As I'm sue you know, tpt is having a little sale...
YIPPEE!!
Because Lord knows I don't have enough resources and clipart! ha! I have so much goodness from my friends at TpT, I don't even know what I have anymore!
But that has never stopped me before!

Here's a few March-y things I'll be using!

I love a graphic organizer, Yes I do! I bet you would love this pack of them too!

Tons of silly activities and centers for your special stories!

We started our weather unit this week!

If you loved my Saint Valentine unit, this one is just like it! LOVE these little holiday history lessons!

We'll be getting our Mush on the second week of March! I have these centers for your littles (1st and 2nd grade).

and here's a collection of my most favorite activities with the Iditarod in mind! It also comes with a big freebie tucked away inside! At least until March 7!

Christmas in July BOGO deal days

So I am trying something a little different! It may work great; it may not...live and learn!
I have matched up some products that I feel go hand in hand-like they're best friends!
If you have never followed the Iditarod dog sled race with your class-you NEED to!! Seriously amazing! and those doggies!
I included everything you need to follow and learn about the "Last Great Race" held each March in Alaska.
So how today works is you purchase the class activities OR the centers and get my brand new product for FREE! I won't be posting this until the fall! and how cute would these little huskies be hanging in your hallway!?!?!

here's the deals for the rest of the week! You can go ahead because I set them all up already!! Each freebie is INCLUDED in the purchase! But be sure to download, because they will be gone next week!

Yes, please leave feedback! I appreciate it and it earns YOU free credits!
this sign is a little old (hence the check out tomorrow reference from the Black Friday sale...) but Feedback still works the same!! I immediately leave feedback after opening the product! then I won't forget!

five for friday

it's five for friday time! I have come to look quite forward to it!

this week was just as crazy as the last, but we still gotta learn so here goes! I cannot even fathom that it's march!

I finally got around to verbs! I still they don't think have the hang of nouns and adjectives, but I know I retaught all the parts of speech in 4th grade too! I'll do whatever I can make them remember and be able to use them properly, so why not use sharks! We've been in the midst of Dental Health this month and our Scholastic News was about animal teeth with a big ol' shark on the cover! That definitely got their attention! Kids love sharks!
I used Amy Lemon's shark acrostic freebie and had them list verbs for sharks rather than adjectives. We'll also be using all these freebies too!

flashback 80s! This is pretty random, but this is where my kiddos who come in for breakfast hang their id badges since the room is locked up. The letters are removable stickers from Walmart's dollar section.

teenage humor...oldest Lamb has become a little obsessed with the periodic table lately. This is technically a picture from last week, but I forgot to share it. After he's comeback of "potassium" to my "k" please insert an eye roll.

don't all teeth need a bowtie? and she's also taken to putting her age on all her work...future mommy I believe
this is an awesome labeling craft from Sarah Cooley's Super Tooth adventures.

and we are also reading lots about these folks from A Year of Many First's amazing pack! Here are a few that actually finished their work! imagine that! See that gorgeous chevron-wrapping paper! I've been hitting up TJ's!

and I could not be more proud this this paper! This child, oh! No words. But he wrote something that I can 1. READ and 2. Makes sense! wooo-hoooo!

We mushed it up all day today since the Iditarod sled dog race starts tomorrow and we will be all seuss-ified next week. I could not be more thrilled with their interest, my new pack, and the books I found at the book fair like Mush and Balto! I have sure missed teaching with the Iditarod!
these are the ones we read today-
this one was just a skimming book-great text features!

they are mesmerized by this dog! but I'll be sure they learn about the other heroes too!

The kids chose their mushers to follow, we read about the history of the race and all about Balto. Of course, they think the race honors just him, but we'll keep learning more and more throughout next week! I'll be sharing more later on!
Almost time to announce the winner of the 1000 follower giveaway! there's still time!

get your mush on! following the iditarod sled dog race

have you ever followed the Iditarod sled dog race?
have you ever even heard of it?
I hadn't until I began teaching and our school's IT gal introduced me and I was hooked!
My fourth graders and I followed each year, but after I was moved to second grade, I put it on hold until I got situated.
Well, I am ready again!

So here's what we do. I will try not to get wordy!
1. Make a class map of Alaska and the route. Here's an example of one class's map

2. then we choose a musher {person in the race} to follow.
I had each of my students choose their own, but with my younger students I will have each table choose one. We made little trading cards. Back in the day, my fourth graders teamed up with a younger class. They used our cards to choose their own musher.

3. The race traditionally starts on the first Saturday in March and the "official" start is the first Sunday. There is a reason behind that madness. But anywho, as we check our stats each morning of the race {this consists of students going to the computer and seeing what place their musher is in}, we do reading, math, science, and SS activities related the race and Alaska. I typically did a lesson related to the race each day for two weeks. Of course, you could also use the theme throughout the day, but I've never been a theme teaching teacher. We will be starting our weather unit this week, so it happens to work out perfectly this year.

4. there are so many great ideas and lessons I have used, want to use, and I just couldn't fit it all, ever. But, what I DID do is included in my pack. My favorite resources are the Idita-dictionary for students to fill out and illustrate, the musher journal which will really push their thinking, and the Iditaread Challenge. This was the kiddos fav. Their challenge was to read as many many as the race is miles. This year the race is 998 miles, so we have lots of reading to do! I have done individual challenges and class challenges, but as a class it took maybe 3 days!

Something new I added for second grade was themed centers for math and ELA. I am quite smitten with the result. You know what I mean! I love the graphics, color scheme, and how all the centers came out!
I aligned these with 1-2 grade Common Core Standards so the little ones could join in on the fun!

both files are 15% off today {Sunday night thru Monday}! Mush on! I hope this introduces you to a brand new sport and more March fun! {cause Seuss, Easter, and St. patty's Day just isn't enough!}

and don't forget my mega huge 1000 follower giveaway! Win $25 TpT gift certificate PLUS items from 15 different stores!

silly skills sans seuss! {win it!}

I sure love alliteration!
for the past year or so, I've had my Seuss-y literacy packs "inactive" on TpT for obvious reasons. Even though I had removed all the old Cat with a Hat graphics from Scrappin' Doodles {sad face}, it was still packed to the brim with Seuss characters, words, and book titles.
So I spent a little time yesterday revamping them just in time for Read Across America Week!
This year the Iditarod Sled Dog race and Seuss's birthday fall on the same weekend, which equals craziness!
So we will begin prepping our Iditarod things and centers the week before the race and spend a few days gettin' Seussy during actual Read Across America week!
If you have already purchased either the Seuss reading response pack or the Seuss literacy centers, they have been reformatted. You can go and redownload them and have both options!
If you haven't-what are you waiting for!?
I will be adding math and and working on the format of the literacy centers over the next week to make them more kid-friendly for my little ones, but they are up now and you'll get the updated one when it's done, too!

And since they are up and running again-it is time for a giveaway!
