In cinema, space serves to establish historical context, deepen character development and add psychological and cultural layers to the story. The relationship between architecture and cinema is symbiotic; cinema provides an experimental platform for architecture, while architecture determines the direction of cinema. Both disciplines are initially imagined in the mind, go through planning and produce products with similar production techniques. Known for his meticulous attention to detail, Wes Anderson became a master of both disciplines by overseeing every aspect of film productions. The aim of this study is to reveal the design approach of Wes Anderson, who has brought new life to the intersection of architecture and cinema with the cinematic spaces he created with the combination of pastel colors and natural light, and to discuss whether he thinks like an architect. This study focuses on five of Anderson's films - The Royal Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Isle of Dogs and The French Dispatch - and analyzes how space is used in each film. In Anderson's cinema, space is not only a backdrop but also a character that influences the narrative and reinforces the mood and characteristics of the protagonists. The study aims to discuss whether Wes Anderson whom has a deliberate approach to design with diverse cinematic spaces can be recognized as an honorary architect or not.

In this study, auteur director Wes Anderson, who has become independent by dominating every phase in the production of his films, is examined. The aim of this study is to discuss whether Wes Anderson who has brought a new breath to the architecture-cinema intersection with his cinematic spaces created by the combination of pastel colors with natural light, is thinking just like an architect or not by revealing his design approach. Each film of Wes Anderson has been overviewed as an architect within the scope of the architectural parameters obtained from research made and The Royal Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Isle of Dogs and The French Dispatch films were selected to be analyzed. As a result of the study, it has been determined that it is correct to evaluate director Wes Anderson as an architect at the same time because of his creation of cinematic spaces and conscious design attitude.

structure. It is one of the places that hosts different ethnicities and crowds.
The aim of this paper is to show how the structures in Galata Harbor and its surroundings should be used
in line with the principles for the public good and how to create an organic unity with the environment
that should be an Urban Site.
Galataport Project which has been planned for the innovation of Galata Region and Cruise Port layout will
be discussed by evaluating the analysis of published reports, academic publications and legal regulations
and the data will be evaluated by observing in Galata region. This study will compare the Galataport
project (which has been shared with the public) with similar examples from the world and will examine
the possibility of destroying the urban texture with the reason of its proximity to the historical peninsula.
It is so important to create a square in such big public areas in urban planning and it must be considered
as if Karakoy coastline is the right location or not to built a harbour for cruise ships to transport. The
possibility of accumulation of thousands of people to Karakoy, one of the central districts of Istanbul will
create difficulty for the daily traffic and access to the area.
The area which should be open to the public in the Galataport project is under construction so the small
shopkeepers who continues to struggle for years in that area will have to leave the region due to the new
circumstances of this annuity cost focused spaces and building a line /set between the sea and the city for
a 1,2 km must be considered for the interaction and more.
The traces of our memory about Istanbul city express its identity and soul; so every project to be made in
this city whom is one of the most unique and cultural centers of the world should be planned with a
sensitive care and well prepared architecture.
Whatever the identity of a city is; natural and historical identity should be valid. This work is prepared
with the aim of producing a solution with a critical approach to one of the most iconic projects of Istanbul;
Galataport.

CONTRAST AESTHETICS IN ARCHITECTURE
An Evaluation on Contrast Aesthetics in Re-Use of Historical Buildings
The aim of this study is to examine the architectural contrast which is formed by the different methods of the re-use of historical buildings in the context of aesthetics and function.
Some of the historical public spaces such as landmarks of the cities have become unfunctional in terms of todays circumstances or fall into disuse because of the fires, earthquakes or other reasons such as the bombings during wars.
In this study, four different renovation methods which are re-use, renovation, adaptive reuse and partial protection are defined and analysed by the examples from around Turkey and the world. These new approaches whom combine the popular architectural elements with historical buildings are criticized a lot becasue it is difficult to create new images of the historical buildings in the cognitive memory of the city and society.
Renovation projects must be suitable for the norms of contemporary architecture and also should not disrupt the urban silhouette of the city. In this sense, “context” should be handled in a way to understand and research the geography and the architectural culture of the historical area. The “renovated / transformed historical buildings”, should not disturb the surrounding structures and not corrupt the natural atmosphere of the city indeed they need to
catch the harmony in disparity and reflect the formal aesthetics of contrast if there is one.
State Theatres of Uskudar Tekel Stages, Beyazıt State Library of Istanbul, The Union of Romanian Architects Building and Novotel of Bucharest are the structures which have been analysed in detail in this study. Accordingly, after the examination of various architectural charters; these renovated buildings are examined through questions such as whether they ignore the historical values and the memory of the cultural past or not, whether the new volumes designed for the new functions are sufficient and functional enough or not and is there a contrast aesthetics between the old and the new building…The answers provide us to criticize the harmony of the re-used / renovated historical buildings in the context of aesthetics.

The sketches of Babina subsumes iconic characters, famous musicians, artists, directors, movies, architects or more by portraying and identifying them with architectural spaces and structures from another point of view. How would a house reminding Andy Warhol's art be? What type of a building would you draw for Le Corbusier to live in? What would Marilyn Monroe's place look like if she was alive nowadays? These questions are answered by Babina's series of work which are named archist, archidesign, archilife and more. In this project; he brings out the data of his unique perception about these icons which he collected in his cognitive map and commits them into paper then translates to a piece of art. The aim of this paper is to resolve whether the popular symbols and icons in peoples brains are coded similar or not by analysing how Federico Babina's sketches of famous artists or art objects turn into spatial and architectural places. The works of Babina show us that the relation of art and architecture is a matter of fact which may be formalized any time and different diciplines can be visualised by interpenetration so we can express the perception of our own easily. To be able to solve the keywords of his perception will prove that if we are looking at the icons we created as a society, from the same perspective or not.
