Even before formal cooperative structures came into being through the passing of a law, the practice of the concept of cooperation and cooperative activities were prevalent in several parts of India. Cooperative Credit Societies Act, 1904 was the first Incorporation in India related to the cooperatives. Over the years the cooperatives have grown to a mammoth institution which supports and influences the lives of millions of people in India. The following paper provide an idea about how this grass root movement has evolved over the years.

Cooperatives can act as an effective media for the socioeconomic reconstruction of the country. Kanjirappally Service Cooperative Bank (KSCB) has been serving the society since 1938 and has become a significant institution with near rupees 100 crore deposits and rupees 70 crore loans to the members. Using percentages, Common Size balance Sheet and Ratios the financial statements of the bank are analysed over a 10 year period. The study found that immediate steps are needed to improve the capital base of the bank. The study attempts to investigate whether there exist any relation between the crude oil price fa... more The study attempts to investigate whether there exist any relation between the crude oil price fall and the natural rubber price decline. The study is inspired by the recent and growing debate on the lead lag relationship between the crude oil and natural rubber. Our findings based on past 5 years price of both products and subject to limitations, tend to suggest that the crude oil price and natural rubber price are cointegrated. The simple correlation model is used to indicate it. Pointing towards growing importance for supporting measures for the two prominences.

This mandatory CSR-spend rule has come into existence from fiscal 2014-15 onwards. Those companies that have a turnover of Rs. 1,000 crore or more or net worth of Rs. 500 crore or more or net profit of Rs. 5 crore or more will have to comply. India is the first country which makes CSR as a mandatory requirement for the companies and thus the entire corporate world is looking for clarity in its implementations. This study concentrates on the evaluation of CSR activities of SMR, which handles export of forty per cent of centrifuged latex from India, which is located in Kottayam district, Kerala, India. It examines the methods adopted by the company for exercising the CSR activities, assess the benefits received by the society and looks at the problems faced by the company in delivering CSR.
