Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions: This project has included the following activities;

  1. Advertising Campaign online and offline;
  2. Organizing a series of 3 to 4 edit-a-thons and workshops to familiarize volunteers with the Wikipedia interface, community, uploading photos and how to edit & create new articles;
  3. Monitoring and Reviewing translated articles;
  4. Judging and announcing winners for prizes;
  5. Ending ceremony and community engaging meetups.

1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?

We are willing to do a series of small edit-a-thons that aim to translate articles, focused and related to the SDGs, into Arabic language. The edit-a-thons will take the form of a contest, where participants will be judged and valuable prizes will be awarded to those who made the best contributions.

2. How will you let your community know about the event? Please paste links below to where relevant communities have been notified of your proposal, and to any other relevant community discussions.

We will publicize the contest through Arabc Wikipedia's Central Notice, social media and local meetups as well as edit-a-thons (later on). All contributors will be assigned different tasks according to a list of articles needing translation that will be made in advance. Participants will be also monitored through a time-schedule or the Trello software.

3. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event?

Yes, I have a good experience in different Wikimedia projects and I have already facilitated different Wiki-events. Also, I'm going to receive support from the Egypt Wikimedians User Group.

4. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?

All contributors will have their own laptops or computers. Also, the user group will provide support with the equipment, if needed, during edit-a-thons .

5. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?

There will be a follow up presentation at the ending ceremony that will tell the contributors how they can be engaged in the following Wiki events. Also, we will encourage them to participate in Wikimedia projects

6. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

  • The project has been developed through a thoughtful planning process with Wikipedians as well as with the partner organization. The project is unique to the Arabic language community --Abbad (talk) 07:44, 27 January 2019 (UTC).
  • Kamal exerts a lot of real effort to plan things. We have worked closely together on another contest before and he was such a great partner. I totally trust he will manage this novel-concept contest in a good way.Reem Al-Kashif (talk) 15:56, 17 March 2019 (UTC)
