This page is for requests to have stewards grant or revoke administrator, bureaucrat, checkuser, and oversight rights on Wikimedia projects which do not have a local permissions procedure. Minimum voting requirement are listed here.

Old sections are archived. The list of archives is below.

  • Requests for bot flags are handled at SRB, and requests for global permissions are handled at SRGP.
  • If you are requesting adminship or bureaucratship, and your wiki has a local bureaucrat, submit your request to that user or to the relevant local request page (index).
  • For urgent requests, such as to combat large-scale vandalism on a small wiki, contact a steward in the #wikimedia-stewardsconnect IRC channel. In emergencies, type !steward in the channel to get the attention of stewards. Otherwise, you can type @steward for non-urgent help.

Other than requests to remove your own access or emergencies, please only make requests here after gaining the on-wiki approval of your local community.

Cross-wiki requests
Meta-Wiki requests

Using this page

1. Place the following code at the bottom of the appropriate section below:

==== Username@xxproject ====
{{sr-request
 |status    = <!-- Don't change this line -->
 |domain    = <!-- Such as en.wikibooks -->
 |user name =
 |discussion=
}}
(your remarks) ~~~~

2. Fill in the values:

  • domain: the wiki's URL domain (like "ex.wikipedia" or "meta.wikimedia").
  • user name: the name of the user whose rights are to be changed (like "Exampleuser"). In case this is for multiple users, leave this field blank and give a list of these users in your remarks.
  • discussion: a link to the local vote or discussion about the rights change (for example, "[[ex:Wikipedia:Requests_for_adminship#ExampleUser]]"). This should normally be for at least one week, but no more than three weeks (if so, you'll need to restart the process).

3. If anything is missing from your request, a steward will request more information.

Confirmation of signing confidentiality agreement

Certain permissions (notably CheckUser and Oversight) additionally require users to sign a confidentiality agreement. Users requesting these permissions must make a request below, and must also sign the confidentiality agreement with the Wikimedia Foundation. The request is placed on hold temporarily, until the receipt has been formally confirmed by the Office.

Requests

COPY THE FOLLOWING CODE to the bottom of the appropriate section below:

 and also mistakes. Thank you.

Administrator access

See Administrator for information about this user group.

  • MediaWiki interface translations are done at translatewiki.net. Please do not request administrator access solely for that purpose; your request will be declined.

  • Stewards: Please use {{Systmp}} for approved temporary requests.

Requests for removal of access should be posted at the section below.

Please start a new discussion about requesting the permission on the local village pump, administrators' noticeboard or a designated page for requesting permissions each time you request or renew adminship.

  • Discussions should be open for seven days. Please request adminship here seven days after discussions started. This page is not the place for any discussions or votes. (For wikis with few active users, it is OK to have no comments.)
  • If you only want adminship for specific tasks, please state for how long and for which tasks you need it. Otherwise stewards will decide whether to assign permanent adminship and the duration of adminship. See Steward requests/Permissions/Minimum voting requirements.

Hello, I would like to extend my administrator rights further. Can I get my admin rights for local WPs permanently. — regards Munkhzaya.E (talk) 05:54, 28 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Your adminship still runs until 3 October. --MF-W 15:42, 30 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, in 4 weeks, but I want to be in advance extend my admin rights. - Munkhzaya.E (talk) 05:12, 31 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Both candidates were approved by the community by 4/0/0.
  • Both recently completed three-month admin terms. However, I believe they can be granted one-year terms this round, for the following reasons:
    • Chabi has experience as a sysop not only here but also on jamwiki and (using the account Katxis) on ladwiki. He was test-sysop on Incubator for both jamwiki and lfnwiki. He knows how to use the tools.
    • Cgboeree has less sysop experience. But he is literally the world's leading expert on this language (having created it). The community respects his opinions and decisions. Moreover, FWIW (and I've looked), I see no evidence whatsoever that lfnwiki (or any other project here) reports on him in any other than a neutral POV. So I see no harm to the project, and plenty of benefit, to allowing him the stability of a full-year term. StevenJ81 (talk) 22:18, 29 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
      • Done Granted for 1 year to expire on 2019-08-30. I daresay I ignored your comments about why these users can be given one-year terms, as stewards should not grant shorter or longer terms depending on what they think of the candidates' merits, but based on whether or not the participation in the RFAs justifies permanent adminship. --MF-W 22:41, 30 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ruthven@napwiki

Temporary adminship's expiring. Can you please grant me adminship for 6-12 months this time? Thanks --Ruthven (msg) 14:17, 19 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

 On hold till 2018-08-28. — regards, Revi 14:20, 19 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Interface administrator access

See Interface admin for information about this user group.

  • If you are requesting adminship and the interface admin at the same time, you can file one request in administrator section and state you want interface adminship as well.
  • MediaWiki interface translations are done at translatewiki.net. Please do not request interface administrator access solely for that purpose; your request will be declined.
  • Since the end of 2018, all interface administrators are required to have two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled. Please, enable it before posting your request here.

  • Stewards: Please use {{Systmp}} for approved temporary requests.

Requests for removal of access should be posted at the section below.

Please start a new discussion about requesting the permission on the local village pump, administrators' noticeboard or a designated page for requesting permissions each time you request or renew interface adminship.

  • Discussions should be open for seven days. Please request interface adminship here seven days after discussions started. This page is not the place for any discussions or votes. (For wikis with few active users, it is OK to have no comments.)
  • If you only want interface adminship for specific tasks, please state for how long and for which tasks you need it. Otherwise stewards will decide whether to assign permanent interface adminship and the duration of interface adminship. See Steward requests/Permissions/Minimum voting requirements.

Jawikiversity

By 2 pros and no cons in our village-pump discussion, we have a consensus that both of our active custodians should have interface-admin access. Thank you. --Kanjy (talk) 10:01, 25 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Do you really need it? You have never edited any js/css pages. アルトクール has edited them a couple of times. Ruslik (talk) 19:52, 25 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Ping @Kanjy: --Alaa :)..! 09:45, 26 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I would like to edit CSS/JS on ja.wikiversity, as well as I did on ja.wiktionary and ja.wikibooks. Recently I feel that we need several input-aiding gadgets and related styles for some kind of educational materials, such as for math equations. I speak JS (of versions defined as ES5.1 -- ES2017 only) and CSS (up to level 3).
Of course such a small wiki as ours need not edit CSS/JS pages very often. However, as the meta page “Interface administrators” writes, we discussed that we should have at least two interface-admins. Thank you. --Kanjy (talk) 11:14, 26 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Please grant the access to them. Kanjy is an experienced user and a former global sysop. --rxy (talk) 11:22, 26 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for clarifying. Done for both. Stryn (talk) 11:59, 26 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Trusted, active user with a vast technical knowledge (interface-admin on plwiki and pl.wikinews, mediawikiwiki admin). So, despite the small number of voters (project is basically dead), please grant these rights permamently, or for at least a couple of years. Granting these rights for just a couple of months is utterly pointless, because you may not even use them once. Someone with the ability (and knowledge) to edit sitewide css and js is always needed, even if it's just in case. FYI: @Wargo:. tufor (talk) 18:16, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Wouldn't the same argument apply to "normal" admins? --MF-W 22:43, 30 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I think it would. Now, as we have this question answered, can I have one of the stewards to honor my request? I'd really really appreciate it. Truly yours, tufor (talk) 15:14, 31 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Request for temporary interface-adminship. The RFA request have been opened 3 weeks and notice on Village pump, and receive no objection. Xiplus (talk) 06:05, 2 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Request for permanent interface-adminship. I've been administrator of Lezgi Wikipedia for more than six years. In fact, only I make edits in the MediaWiki space (more than 330 edits, including about 200 edits in .js and .css). The link to the community decision is above. All users entitled to vote, already voted. Also I already have the status of interface administrator in the Bashkir Wikipedia.--Soul Train (talk) 20:13, 2 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Bureaucrat access

See Bureaucrat for information about this user group.
  • In principle, requests for temporary bureaucrat access are not granted.
  • A small project does not need bureaucrats. Currently whether a promotion is valid or not is decided by stewards. See here for a guideline.

Requests for removal of access should be posted at the section below.

CheckUser access

See CheckUser policy for information about this user group and the policy governing the use of this tool.
  • To request CheckUser information, see Steward requests/Checkuser. This is the place to request CheckUser access.
  • One-time CheckUser access is not permitted and temporary access is only used by Stewards or when the mandate of the CUs has an expiry date specified in local policies.

Oversight access

See Oversight policy for information about this user group and the policy governing the use of this tool.
  • To request to have content oversighted, ask for a steward in #wikimedia-stewardsconnect and contact a steward privately. This section is for requesting access to the Oversight tool.
  • For contact details about oversighters across the wikis, refer to this page.
  • Note that temporary Oversight access is not permitted and temporary status is only used by Stewards .

  • When a new user is assigned to this group, please add them to this list.

Please, attribute to me oversight permission for one year, according votation on this page. Teles, Defender and RadiX can confirm, if necessary. Thanks! Stanglavine (talk) 16:47, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Done. @RadiX: please add Stanglavine to mail:oversight-wp-pt. Trijnsteltalk 19:28, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Trijnstel: Done as well. RadiX 02:22, 28 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of access

  • If you're requesting the removal of your own permissions, make sure you're logged in to your account. If you have multiple flags, specify which you want removed. Stewards may delay your request a short time to ensure you have time to rethink your request (see previous discussion on 24 hour delays); the rights will not be restored by stewards once they are removed.
  • To request the removal of another user's permissions, you must gain consensus on the local wiki first. When there is community consensus that the user's access should be removed, provide a link to the discussion, with a brief explanation of the reason for the request, and summarize the results of discussion. However, as bureaucrats of some wikis may remove users from the administrator or bureaucrat group, please see also a separate list of these specific wikis.
  • To request the removal of another user's permissions for inactivity, link to your local inactivity policy. If your site does not have inactivity policy, the global policy Admin activity review applies.
  • See the instructions above for adding new requests. Please post new requests at the bottom of the section.

Please remove my sysop rights on nl.wikipedia. Thank you. MoiraMoira (talk) 16:44, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please put this request on hold for 24 hours, as it was made under emotional circumstances in the midst of a desysopping process. ErikvanB (talk) 18:20, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
A desysop which is not succesfull. If you, MoiraMoira, will keep this, much more work will go to other mods. Much of your work is unfamilliar to others, you'll create a huge (knowledge)gap. I can only see lots of trouble if you stick to your request. Dqfn13 (talk) 18:46, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
This desysop is still running. A still running desysop is not "not succesfull". The Banner (talk) 18:58, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
And given the current voting ratio and the amount of time left to vote, it's unlikely it won't be "succesfull". Jeroen N (talk) 19:17, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
No reason to explain the desysop vote here, so please refrain from further comments. This request will be on hold until at least 22:00 (UTC). Trijnsteltalk 19:34, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Actually it should be held for 24 hours per the usual practices. — regards, Revi 19:43, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Doesn't the 24 hour period only apply to self-requests? The community has now voted to revoke MoiraMoira's sysop rights (see [1] – according to our policy, a sysop needs to have the trust of at least 75% of the community, whereas MoiraMoira has 72,5%). Jeroen N (talk) 22:46, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Please don't make a big fuzz out of this. It's not like there is a huge urgency with this implementation. Leave it to the stewards. Effeietsanders (talk) 00:27, 28 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • This page is not intended to host discussions surrounding local conflicts. Please refrain from further comments. I will keep her request  On hold until 22:00, 28 August 2018 (UTC). Thanks, RadiX 03:21, 28 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Communicity consensus: https://nl.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Afzetting_moderatoren Where does the policy say that a user that has its rights removed by the community can keep her rights for 24 hours by stewards decission? 62.140.137.83 04:53, 28 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
If there is local consensus to demote, someone from nlwiki (preferably locally trusted) should make a new section with the link to the desysop request. Until then this is treated as self-removal request. — regards, Revi 07:19, 28 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

As per the results of this desysop and the remark of Revi above, I ask the stewards to fulfil the expressed will of the Dutch community. Thanks for doing so, RonnieV (talk) 08:42, 28 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, according to local policy on ckb, if an administrator had less than a hundred edits in a year, the administrator rights should be revoked from them. This user had less than the required edits during 14 months, and he doesn’t look like he needs the admin right now anyway (he elected himself back when no other user was ready to take upon the admin responsibilities when the main active administrator was away and it was supposed to be temporary as he says in his election page.) The user has been thanked for their contributions.--▸ ‎épine talk 20:50, 3 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Miscellaneous requests

Requests for permissions that don't fit in other sections belong here. Importer rights can be granted on most wikis by stewards only. Please gain local community consensus before posting a new section here.

Note that the following types of permissions requests belong on separate pages:

  • SRB — Local or global bot status
  • SRGP — Global permissions

Leaderboard@enwikibooks

As a sysop, I already have the standard import interface (transwiki import) where I can import from other en wikis. However, I need the importupload permission as well. This is because I often need to import from non-English projects (such as fr.wikibooks, for which the standard import option isn't available), and occasionally handle complex import cases for which the standard import facility does not suffice. Please let me know if this isn't possible. Thanks. Leaderboard (talk) 13:51, 3 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Have you considered adding projects such as frwikibooks to your wiki's import sources (requires a short community discussion + request at phabricator)? In any case, you will need to provide a link to a community discussion prior to being granted any further user rights by stewards. Kind regards, --Vogone (talk) 14:00, 3 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Vogone: No; in any case, it's difficult to predict from which languages import may be required from. As for the community discussion, while I can certainly do it, is it really required? Considering that I'm already a sysop and have the general import permission... Leaderboard (talk) 14:18, 3 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
