Invitation to share your ideas on Wikimedia’s Innovation Idea Wall

edit

Dear @AbhiSuryawanshi:

Thank you for being part of our, the Innovation team at Wikimedia Deutschland's, journey in developing a new innovation format for the Movement this far (you can read more about it here:Re-imagining_UNLOCK). As we are moving along with our process, we would love to hear your ideas on how to address the challenges that you have helped us identify – challenges that are keeping us from fostering innovation in our communities.

To facilitate collaborative ideation, we have created an Innovation Idea Wall—a virtual space where you can freely scribble down your ideas whenever you find a moment of inspiration. We believe that by putting together the collective wisdom and creativity of Wikimedians like yourself, we can unlock new possibilities for innovation in our Movement.

To access the Innovation Idea Wall, simply follow this link [1]. You will be directed to our concept board, an online whiteboard, where you will find the instructions on how to get started. We assure you that the process is easy to follow along. In brief, we have formulated some questions that we invite you to brainstorm on – any idea is welcome! Your opinions matter greatly to us, as we firmly believe that Wikimedians possess the firsthand knowledge and expertise needed to identify the necessary improvements in our approach to innovation.

We look forward to watching this Idea Wall grow over the coming weeks. The idea wall will be accessible until July 3rd.

Best regards, Sissela Björk (WMDE) (talk) 15:17, 12 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello AbhiSuryawanshi. Your user (sub)page has been deleted according to meta's deletion policy. Please note that Wikimedia is not a webspace provider, and off-topic material is not accepted here. Thanks for your understanding. - Savhñ 15:19, 30 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

User subpage moving

edit

Hello, you moved User:Nitika.t/Pune Students Club to your user subpage, which I reverted. Please do not do this in future without asking the user who created the page. Also this kind of practice is not appreciated. You could copy-paste the content to your user page to work on. Thanks. — Tanvir | Talk ] 07:19, 24 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your translations

edit

Dear AbhiSuryawanshi:

Thank you for helping to translate the WMF Grants program pages on Meta. Thanks to your efforts, these programs will be accessible to more people all over the world. We would like to send you something in appreciation of your work, so please contact us by Email at grants at wikimedia dot org with your name, shirt size (optional), address for delivery (not a PO Box), and telephone number (for delivery).

We would also like to let you know that our programs are growing and we will need to make some significant changes to these program pages in the next few weeks. When this happens, these pages may need to be retranslated, although much of the new text will be identical or similar to the text you've already translated: you've already translated this text, so you'd be able to copy and paste much from your existing translation. Please consider continuing to support the movement's work in this area, and please continue to let your multilingual friends and colleagues know that this support is still needed as our programs grow!

Please also let us know if you have any feedback for us: it's always welcome.

With appreciation,

Wolliff (talk) 18:58, 14 August 2012 (UTC) (on behalf of the Wikimedia Grants Team)Reply

Indic Language Wikipedia Outreach in United States/Workshop Outline

edit

Thank you for this great proposal. The project sounds really interesting and I would be happy to provide on-ground support in Washington (DC) location. Along with the focus on improving the Wikipedia content, I would like to request you to consider focusing the project on female contribution even. I am fairly sure we could get enthusiastic women editors in local Meet-Up groups from DC, including my local Meet-Up group of women. If needed, I can lead the initiative in DC area and help in arranging the venue and conducting the workshop. Please provide feedback and any suggestions for the updated color format for the workshop outline table. श्वेता कोकाटे (talk) 21:50, 21 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Inspire Campaign on content curation & review

edit

I've recently launched an Inspire Campaign to encourage new ideas focusing on content review and curation in Wikimedia projects. Wikimedia volunteers collaboratively manage vast repositories of knowledge, and we’re looking for your ideas about how to manage that knowledge to make it more meaningful and accessible. We invite you to participate and submit ideas, so please get involved today! The campaign runs until March 28th.

All proposals are welcome - research projects, technical solutions, community organizing and outreach initiatives, or something completely new! Funding is available from the Wikimedia Foundation for projects that need financial support. Constructive feedback on ideas is welcome - your skills and experience can help bring someone else’s project to life. Join us at the Inspire Campaign to improve review and curation tasks so that we can make our content more meaningful and accessible! I JethroBT (WMF) 05:38, 29 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Open Call for Individual Engagement Grants

edit

Greetings! The Individual Engagement Grants (IEG) program is accepting proposals until April 12th to fund new tools, research, outreach efforts, and other experiments that enhance the work of Wikimedia volunteers. Whether you need a small or large amount of funds (up to $30,000 USD), IEGs can support you and your team’s project development time in addition to project expenses such as materials, travel, and rental space.

With thanks, I JethroBT (WMF), Community Resources 15:56, 31 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Through June, we’re organizing an Inspire Campaign to encourage and support new ideas focusing on addressing harassment toward Wikimedia contributors. The 2015 Harassment Survey has shown evidence that harassment in various forms - name calling, threats, discrimination, stalking, and impersonation, among others - is pervasive. Available methods and systems to deal with harassment are also considered to be ineffective. These behaviors are clearly harmful, and in addition, many individuals who experience or witness harassment participate less in Wikimedia projects or stop contributing entirely.

Proposals in any language are welcome during the campaign - research projects, technical solutions, community organizing and outreach initiatives, or something completely new! Funding is available from the Wikimedia Foundation for projects that need financial support. Constructive feedback on ideas is appreciated, and collaboration is encouraged - your skills and experience may help bring someone else’s project to life. Join us at the Inspire Campaign so that we can work together to develop ideas around this important and difficult issue. With thanks,

[Wikipedia & Education User Group] Updates: November 2018

edit

Greetings,

Integrating Wikimedia with education is a powerful strategy for the outreach of Wikimedia projects. Realising this concept, a group of leaders promoted this and formed the Wikipedia Education Collaborative. After some time, this evolved to become a user group, officially recognised by the Affiliations Committee in June 2018. The user group had its first board elections earlier in September. In the process to formalise activities and give a shape the user group for long-term sustainability, we are now revamping our processes. Thanks for supporting us during incubation stages, we are now inviting you to formally join the user group by following the instructions on the members' page. Being a member will allow you to be a part of this wonderful collaboration and also do interesting stuff.

Kind regards

Invitation to affiliate members to complete a survey about WMF wide Universal Code of Conduct

edit

Hello; My name is Mervat, and I am helping the Trust and Safety team to reach out to affiliates in order to discuss the Universal Code of Conduct.

There has been talks about the need for a global set of conduct rules in different communities over time, and finally, Wikimedia Foundation Board announced a Community Culture Statement, enacting new standards to address harassment and promote inclusivity across projects.Since the universal code of conduct that will be a binding minimum set of standards across all Wikimedia projects, will apply to all of us, staff and volunteers alike, all around the globe, and will impact our work as groups, individuals and projects, it’s of great importance that we all participate in expressing our opinions and thoughts about UCoC, its nature, what we think it should cover or include and what it shouldn’t include; how it may develop, drawback or help our groups.   This is the time to talk about it. As you are a valuable contributor to the Wikimedia movement, your voice counts.

Before starting to draft the code of conduct, we would like to hear from you; We invite you to devote some minutes to take this survey; your answers will help us create a safer environment for all on Wikimedia:

(English): https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd36dNdU3C5shXEkKp9itJOhuCTx9hZE5AE-xflkxtfRMnZtg/viewform?usp=pp_url

It’s possible that you are a member of more than one affiliate; hence you may receive this survey more than once, and you may have participated previously in the discussions or filled out a previous survey during the first round of consultations about UCoC which targeted wikipedia/wikimedia communities. We apologize for this; it is really difficult to identify if a wikimedian belongs to multiple groups that work to spread free knowledge.

Looking forward to your thoughts and opinions and hoping that you can respond within the next 2 weeks. If you have any questions about the surveys or difficulties accessing the link, please contact me by email ([email protected]).

Results will be considered during the drafting process for the UCoC.

Thank you for your participation

Hi! I'm contacting you as one of the participants in the Wikimedia Summit 2022, to kindly ask for your feedback through a 5-10 minute survey to evaluate 'Baserow' (note: the survey is on a Google form).

Baserow was a tool through which participants in the Summit co-created a database of Movement Strategy activities. We hope to learn from you how useful it may be to keep using it in the future to help document and connect on Movement Strategy work.

Personal Invitation to the Open Innovation Café of Wikimedia Deutschland

edit

Hello @AbhiSuryawanshi:

This year we are setting out on a journey to build a new format for the Wikimedia Movement, a safe space that will foster innovation and allow members of our community to experiment with and build new ideas for Free Knowledge. This is why we would like to extend a personal invitation to you to join our Open Innovation Café where we want to tell you all about what we are planning and how we would love you to be involved!

We are reaching out to people, affiliate representatives and Wikimedia community members who specifically indicated in some capacity that they are either working on or interested in innovation in the Wikimedia Movement and/or recommendation no. 9 “Innovate in Free Knowledge” of the Movement Strategy 2030. We will be a diverse, international group. The Café will be done in English and will be hosted by us. There is no preparation required, simply drop in as you are.

When and where will the Open Innovation Café take place? We will be running two identical open cafés, so choose the slot and time zone that suits you best:

We look forward to seeing you at the Open Innovation Café and diving deeper into this exciting, pan-Movement endeavor!

--Kannika Thaimai (WMDE) (talk) and Lucia Obst (WMDE) (talk) 14:44, 2 March 2023 (CET). Feel free to reach out to us at [email protected]

Dear @AbhiSuryawanshi:, We saw that you were not able to make it to our Open Innovation Café, but we have set up a page on Meta-Wiki documenting our Re-Imagining UNLOCK journey. So be sure to have a look at what we are planning and join any future discussions! In short: We are setting up a new innovation format for the WIkimedia Movement, but we cannot do this on our own!
How can you get involved? We have created a quick 4-question survey (anonymous) that will help us in better understanding the needs and challenges of our Movement in innovating in Free Knowledge. This will form the basis of any new innovation format to take shape in the future. It would be wonderful if you could give us a few minutes of your time as we are grateful for any response.
Many thanks for being a part of this journey. We are also happy to keep you in the loop of any future developments, outcomes of the survey and the next Open Café! Best wishes,--Lucia Obst (WMDE) (talk) 12:16, 16 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Personal Invitation to the Open Innovation Café volume 2 of Wikimedia Deutschland

Hello @AbhiSuryawanshi:

We asked – you delivered: After asking all our stakeholders for input through our Open Innovation Café volume 1, a survey and interviews, we have collected the research data and compiled some insightful problem statements. These cover the needs and challenges our Movement faces in innovating in Free Knowledge – quite eye-opening!

Join us at our Open Innovation Café volume 2 to hear about what we have found and how we will use these insights in building a new innovation format for the Wikimedia Movement. Maybe some insights will also be helpful in your community work as well?

When and where will the Open Innovation Café take place? We will be running two identical open cafés, so choose the slot and time zone that suits you best:

This will be done in English and is hosted by the Innovation team at Wikimedia Deutschland. There is no requirement for joining, simply drop in as you are. Looking forward to seeing you there! --Lucia Obst (WMDE) (talk) 09:31, 11 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
