Hello, I am A09, a slwiki admin, checkuser, and global rollbacker.
Although I am not the most prolific editor at GSR, I believe I could be a valued addition to the team. I deal daily with various forms of long-term abuse, cross-wiki spam and sock puppetry, as well as mass machine translation abuse (you can see me daily at SGR). When addressing these problems, I often need to request help from global sysops (I have 500 edits on GSR as of this nomination). I’d be happy to help with the backlog as well as continue doing what I love. Other dear colleagues also expressed their support of running for GS rights. Some voters might remember some cross-wiki block problems, but these were all resolved swiftly, as they were due to misunderstandings. I’d be happy to address any concerns you might have.
I confirm I have read appropriate policies and that my account will be protected with 2FA by the Nov 16th.--A09|(pogovor) 06:37, 2 November 2024 (UTC)
- Support A09's been very helpful with dealing with cross-wiki matters and the >500 GSR requests is a case-in-point. Regarding the block problems, almost all of them bar etwikiquote were due to misunderstandings and even with etwikiquote you can't blame A09 when all they did back then was revert the edits of Risto hot sir from an admin who gave zero respect to A09 – no cross-wiki patroller could have known that's the response that etwq would have given and it would have made zero difference if A09 was a GS or not at the time. --SHB2000 (t • c) 06:41, 2 November 2024 (UTC)
- And I say 500 quite lightly, but 500 is more than what most global sysops have on GSR. --SHB2000 (t • c) 06:47, 2 November 2024 (UTC)
- If SHB2000 supports, I Support too. signed, Aafi (talk) 06:49, 2 November 2024 (UTC)

- Support I looked at the et.wikiquote case, and do not see enough evidence that A09 did anything wrong. But ... as a CheckUser, don't you think you should have 2FA enabled already? Leaderboard (talk) 09:10, 2 November 2024 (UTC)
- We don’t have codified that a slwiki checkuser needs 2FA but I’m planning to change that. That however doesn’t mean I don’t take account security extremely serious. A09|(pogovor) 09:45, 2 November 2024 (UTC)
- I was actually surprised that there is no mention of 2FA required for CheckUsers globally - but I thought this is something you would have enabled irrespective of policy. Leaderboard (talk) 10:06, 2 November 2024 (UTC)
- It surprised me as well – you'd think that the WMF would've gotten to it by now (same for OS), but seems the requirement is still only for IA, GS and stew. --SHB2000 (t • c) 10:14, 2 November 2024 (UTC)
- To clarify, the 2FA requirement is only for roles that can edit site CSS/JS (which thus includes GS) and for CNA. EPIC (talk) 10:20, 2 November 2024 (UTC)
- Oh yes, I stand corrected. Thanks for clarifying, EPIC. --SHB2000 (t • c) 10:23, 2 November 2024 (UTC)
- @SHB2000, what is the most funny is that WMF does not even require 2FA for bureaucrats, even though they can make new IAs (including make themselves an IA). I have been mentioning this to the T&S folks in the steward–T&S calls and elsewhere for many years, but it seems no one really cares about it. --Base (talk) 11:07, 2 November 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah that too – gotta love the irony of not requiring bureaucrats to enable 2FA but requiring IAs to. It's a shame, really – account security isn't exactly a trivial issue either; I guess it is what it is :-(. --SHB2000 (t • c) 11:10, 2 November 2024 (UTC)

Hello, everyone. I’ve been involved with cross-wiki patrolling for a few months (though my activity levels vary significantly) and often find that the global sysop list is quite backlogged; GS will greatly help in assisting me dealing with vandalism, long-term abuse, spam and other maintenance, having made over 600 edits to GSR.
I hold sysop perms on the English Wikivoyage, English Wikibooks and Meta-Wiki, bureaucrat perms on the English Wikivoyage in addition to global rollback. I’ve thoroughly read the policy on global sysops in addition to the three local policies (srwiki, enwikinews and mediawiki.org). I also confirm that I have 2FA enabled.

Dear Wikimedians, after gaining experience with the sysop tools on dewiki and metawiki, I’d like to ask for global sysop permissions. I am very familiar with global anti-vandalism work and especially GSR due to my work as a global rollbacker for over a year. If you give me this opportunity, I would help clean up vandalism and spam according to the policy. As a metawiki sysop, I frequently monitor my meta watchlist, which includes GSR. I have activated 2FA and familiarized myself with the local GS policies listed here.
Now it’s your turn: I look forward to your feedback and hope for your support. Thanks, --TenWhile6 06:05, 13 November 2024 (UTC)

Hello
Currently, I am living in Russia. As you know, Russia has blocked several websites since 2022. These restrictions cause me to often use VPN to access blocked websites. Unfortunately, users cannot either editing or creating a page on Wikipedia with VPN. Although Wikipedia has not been blocked yet, however several important websites that can support me during the editing or creation of an article are blocked such as BBC.com, Archive.org, Rfel.org and others. Apart from that, there are several news that stated Russia wanted to block Wikipedia, although it has not materialized yet. Hence, I am requesting Global IP block exempt so that I can edit or create an article on Wikipedia without having turning off the VPN. Faldi00 (talk) 07:22, 11 September 2024 (UTC)

- @Player8635, have you tried local (commons) IP block exempt? As far as I can understand you, you only want to edit the chinese wikipedia and commons. More information: Commons:IP block exemption. TenWhile6 15:19, 9 October 2024 (UTC)
- I did apply for a local IP exemption, but I was blocked by Wikimedia Commons when I was editing a realm, and I can't edit tasks like: "Add an image to an article without an illustration

Global IP Block Exempt for MarkRosenbaum

Per UTRS #95471 --DeltaQuadBot (talk) 13:00, 23 October 2024 (UTC)
- @MarkRosenbaum the IP range you are operating on is globally blocked, but also locally blocked at enwiki. A global IP block exemption only helps agains global blocks, while local exemptions override both local and global blocks (see IP block exempt). If you want to edit at enwiki (which seems to be your main wiki) you will need to ask for a local exemption -> en:WP:IPBE, a global exemption won't help you. - Hi @Johannnes89,
- I was actually looking to edit testwiki when I hit the block, I believe the testwiki block is controlled by the global block as opposed to a local block but I could be wrong. MarkRosenbaum (talk) 11:57, 24 October 2024 (UTC)
- I have attempted to also submit an enwiki exemption request but I get the message "It has been detected that you or someone else may be trying to spam our system with appeals. Please wait until your previous appeal is closed" MarkRosenbaum (talk) 12:26, 24 October 2024 (UTC)

I am a Wikipedian from mainland China. Due to the GFW blockade, I have to use open proxies to access Wikipedia. I have applied for an IP block exemption on the Chinese Wikipedia. In the past, I have participated in editing the Chinese Wikipedia multiple times without any misconduct. I hope to apply for a global IP block exemption to upload images to Wikimedia Commons and edit Wikibooks. Thank you. --HelloMao (talk) 10:56, 28 October 2024 (UTC)

As a Wikipedia editor, I reside in mainland China (PRC) generally, where access to Wikipedia is restricted. This necessitates the use of a proxy server with outside-the-state network to enable my contributions. Using a proxy can occasionally lead to complications with editing permissions due to the IP address associated with the server. Please be assured that this proxy server IP address is used exclusively for my personal using and will not be misused. Thanks. --Hokdung Koo↗️talk 14:28, 2 November 2024 (UTC)

<My name is Humza Khurshid and I'm a Cloud Security Engineer at Netskope, and I'm writing this appeal on behalf of one of our customers: Fox RothsChild LLP. Our customer is getting denied permission to edit on wiktionary.org. The block was made by "AmandaNP" and the reason given is "No open proxies." Start of block is from March 26, 2023 to March 26, 2026. The current IP address of the customer blocked is 163.116.248.34. The block range is 163.116.128.0/17.
This website is crucial for our customer's business, so we want to know what can we do or what information we need to provide that will allow the IP Range that was blocked.
Here's some background information regarding Netskope and our private cloud: Netskope NewEdge is the world’s largest, highest-performing security private cloud and powers the inline security services of the Netskope Security Cloud. NewEdge provides customers with unparalleled service coverage, performance and resilience. Today NewEdge is powered by data centers in 75+ regions with new data centers being added every month.>, thanks, --Hkhurshid397 (talk) 19:30, 7 November 2024 (UTC)

Hello, for my concern and care especially on Indonesian Wikipedia where many user obstacles are affected by the False Positive Filter id:Wikipedia:Filter_penyuntingan/False_positive/Reports which results in many complaints and feels disturbed and complains a lot whether on the page provided or on personal pages and others, I quite often help users who are affected by filters. While the filter administrators are very few or even neglected see this proposal id:Wikipedia:Permohonan pendapat/Pembenahan Filter Penyalahgunaan 2024 therefore I volunteer to help them, and I need that right, I focus for now on Indonesian Wikipedia, I have known and read the policies. such as (only used for non-controversial maintenance, or at the request of the local community) so hopefully I am useful. Thanks --🍃Zulf🍃talk 06:22, 15 November 2024 (UTC)
- Strong oppose, long term hat collector, no abusefilter work elsewhere other than idwiki. ToadetteEdit (talk) 07:09, 15 November 2024 (UTC)
- Also to add to my vote, only has 15 edits to id:Wikipedia:Filter penyuntingan/False positive/Reports and is not a sysop too. Strong oppose for AFH too, due to insufficient work with abuse filters in homewiki. ToadetteEdit (talk) 07:13, 15 November 2024 (UTC)
- Per Abuse filter maintainers „the abuse filter maintainer permission is only assigned to users who have a strong track record in maintaining abuse filters“. You don’t seem to fulfill any of the requirements mentioned in Abuse filter maintainers#Appointment. I also don’t get why you are requesting global AFH/AFM permissions when your concern is about idwiki. Combined with your previous requests for global permissions I don’t have the trust that either AFH or AFM permissions should be granted at the moment. --Johannnes89 (talk) 07:11, 15 November 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose If you need these rights for idwiki, you should request local rights there instead of global rights. --Ameisenigel (talk) 07:32, 15 November 2024 (UTC)
