Ghosheh Abed Hodtani received the B.Sc. degree in electronics engineering and the M.Sc. degree in communications engineering, both from Isfahan University of Technology, Isfahan, Iran, in 1985, 1987, respectively. He joined Electrical Engineering Dept., at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Mashhad, Iran, in 1987. He decided to pursue his studies in 2005 and received the Ph.D. degree (with excellent grade) from Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran, in 2008

In this paper, we investigate the constructive or destructive effects of fading coefficients correlation of wireless multiple access channels (MAC) on the outage probability (OP) (one of the wireless communications performances). Our desired channel is a wireless Rayleigh fading MAC with three-users, independent sources, and interdependent fading coefficients; we use the Copula theory to model the dependence structure. We obtain a closed-form expression for the channel outage probability using an important family of Copulas named the Farlie-Gumbel-Morgenstern (FGM) Copula. The results show that the negative dependence structure of the channel coefficients has a constructive effect on the outage probability; in other words, it reduces the outage probability values compared to the independent case. in contrast, the positive dependency has a destructive effect on the outage probability. The efficiency of the analytical results is illustrated numerically, and the numerical illustrations confirm our theoretical results.

Manuscript Received 25-June-2013 and Revised on 17-August-2013 ISSN: 2322-4088 Accepted on 15Sept... more Manuscript Received 25-June-2013 and Revised on 17-August-2013 ISSN: 2322-4088 Accepted on 15September-2013 Abstract— In this study, we introduce a new two-way relay channel and obtain an inner bound and an outer bound for the discrete and memoryless multiple access relay channels with receiver-source feedback via two-way relay channel in which end nodes exchange signals by a relay node. And we extend these results to the Gaussian case. By numerical computing, we show that our inner bound is the same with one obtained by Hou-Koetter-Kramer, for the channel with relay-source feedback.

The past decade has seen a rapid application of information theoretic learning (ITL) criteria in ... more The past decade has seen a rapid application of information theoretic learning (ITL) criteria in robust signal processing and machine learning problems. Generally, in ITL's literature, it is seen that, under non-Gaussian assumptions, especially when the data are corrupted by heavy-tailed or multi-modal non-Gaussian distributions, information theoretic criteria [such as minimum error entropy (MEE)] outperform second order statistical ones. The objective of this research is to investigate this better performance of MEE criterion against that of minimum mean square error. Having found similar results for MEE-and MSE-based methods, in the non-Gaussian environment under particular conditions, we need a precise demarcation between this occasional similarity and occasional outperformance. Based on the theoretic findings, we reveal a better touchstone for the outperformance of MEE versus MSE.

Feedback analysis on the rate region of multi-user channels is a problem of great importance in i... more Feedback analysis on the rate region of multi-user channels is a problem of great importance in information and communication theory. In this paper, the Slepian-Wolf multiple access relay channel (SW-MARC) with relay-sources feedback is studied as a more general model of MARC where feedback outputs are taken into consideration. First, an inner bound on the capacity region of the discret alphabet and memoryless (DM) model of this channel (DM-SW-MARC) is obtained using partial decode and forward strategy. Second, an outer bound on the capacity region is derived by applying Fano's inequality. Third, the DM results are extended to the continuous alphabet version, where an inner bound on the capacity region of the Gaussian MARC (GMARC) with relay-sources feedback is derived. Fourth, it is shown that our results include the important previous works on multiple-access channel with feedback (Cover-Leung rate region) and without feedback (Slepian-Wolf (SW) rate region, etc.) as special cases. Finally, we investigate the effect of feedback and show that the presence of feedback enables the sources to understand each other's messages, which in turn allows the sources to cooperate to resolve the residual uncertainty at the receiver in an efficient way and at the same time, independent fresh information from the sources is superimposed upon the resolution information.
