Motivation

Notified participants of WikiProject Video games

A controlled vocabulary (Q1469824) for computer game platforms (interestingly, a concept we do not appear to have ; superclass of video game console (Q8076), arcade video game machine (Q192851) and operating system (Q9135) ; subclass of computing platform (Q241317)?), described in Implementing Controlled Vocabularies for Computer Game Platforms and Media Formats in SKOS (Q39771738).

This was brought up by @Sadads: a couple of months ago on Wikidata_talk:WikiProject_Video_games. After having read Get your vocabularies in Wikidata... and following the example of Property:P3763, I think a property makes sense. I will make a Mix’n’match catalogue for it.

See also Wikidata:Property proposal/GAMECIP media format ID.

The alignment with this ontology may also help with the modelling around the platform property.
