In battle
If held by a Banette, allows it to Mega Evolve into Mega Banette if its Trainer has a Key Stone. Each Trainer can only Mega Evolve one Pokémon per battle.
Unaffected by item negating effects (such as Embargo and Klutz). Item manipulating effects (such as Trick and Fling) cannot give Banette a Banettite or remove a Banettite from Banette.
Outside of battle
If held by a Banette, allows it to Mega Evolve into Mega Banette when it performs a Spectacular Talent during a Pokémon Contest Spectacular while its Trainer has a Key Stone. Banette will remain a Mega Banette until the Talent Round ends.

Pokémon Shuffle
In Pokémon Shuffle, the Banettite allows the player to Mega Evolve Banette.
The player can obtain the Banettite by completing the competitive stage available in Week 1 of the event rotation.
The Banettite was also available as a prize during the Mega Banette competitive stage. This competitive stage ran on the Nintendo 3DS version from April 30 to May 6, 2015; October 19 to 26, 2015; October 25 to November 1, 2016; and October 24 to 31, 2017. It ran on the Pokémon Shuffle Mobile from January 5 to 12, 2016; October 25 to November 1, 2016, and October 24 to 31, 2017.
