Monday Making

This week I managed to finish this toddler sized sweater.
Weaving the ends in
and putting all the parts together took some DOING!

and deleted the pockets.

This week I hope to add some buttons.
I dream of BROWN buttons...
but....
Wouldn't you know I have every OTHER color???
:)
(the buttons shown are just laying on top there for the photo shoot)

What are YOU making this week???

Three

Knitting little hats is sort of addicting!

You finish one...
You want to make another.
Yarn is so FUN!
and...
Hats are easy.

I can no longer watch a movie
without knitting needles in my hands!

Typically I'm working on more than ONE thing!

This weekend I had THREE finishes.
Two little.

and...
a BIG one!

Sweaters are NOT addicting.
They go ON and ON...
and you wonder if you're going to enjoy wearing
the item you are laboring OVER!!!

Instead of button holes...
(I'm a beginner)
I crocheted some loops.

It fits.
That's a relief!
After ALL those HOURS!!!
But.....
There's a little bit of cruelty to the knitting bug.
When you're old enough to have TIME to knit something warm....
You're body is telling you IT's TOO. TOO. HOT!!!
Some of you ladies will understand.
;)

Pink please

Here's A teeny tiny sweater knit up during the last few days as I sat with company.
It was nice to have handwork as we visited together.
The sleeves are short mainly because I had only a partial skein of pretty soft pink yarn!
I like the short sleeves. :)
Don't you?

Pattern for this was based on the 5 hour baby sweater free pattern on ravelry.
No. I could not finish in 5 hours.
Nothing close to that !

Soft and Warm and Done

Admire...please.
That's ALL we can do right now.
There are no grandbabies the right size for this....
My VERY first REAL knitting project.

Help me admire.
Then...
I'll put it in a SAFE place and WAIT.

There will be a baby someday.
A baby that fits this sweater perfectly.
It doesn't have to be today.

NO...
I really don't mind  holding on to this one just a BIT longer.
;)

*************
Note:
This sweater would not be complete if I didn't have knitting friends.
EXPERT knitters.
Thankfully they came on a retreat with me last weekend.
Thankfully they let me PESTER them all weekend
as I finished up this sweater.
Yes....I pestered them 24/7.
;/
Thankfully....they haven't told me to STOP asking questions!!!

When they do..
I might have to use Youtube for instructions!!!
I will if I HAVE TO.

Thankful for my friends today.

random stuff on friday

TODAY:
I created this...
with some fabric scraps....

Out of this.
It IS the same sweatshirt.
What a difference lighting makes, huh?

I'm not a fancy dresser.
I like warm and comfortable....
and this sweatshirt (found at the thrift store)
is....
WARM.
COMFORTABLE.
And now...
Long enough to SUIT me.

If I had purchased it NEW.....
I would have been too afraid to cut into it!!
Wouldn't you??
When it only cost a couple of dollars...
I didn't worry.
I chalked up my purchase to:
Entertainment!!!!

TODAY:
My table looked normal again.

TODAY:
I gave some cookies to a neighbor
Inspired by this post and ARTICLE!!!

soup and sweater weather!

This fall season gives us all a chance to be creative.....
Don't you think?
We aren't cleaning because the kids are in school.
We aren't cooking because the crockpot does all the work.
Does this sound like a dream?
Yes, I suppose it does.
I made this simple soup yesterday and it was a big hit.
These are my ingredients.
Of course, those vegetables were chopped up a bit. :)

I poured it all in here and turned it on!
It cooked all afternoon and by dinner it was nice and smooth.

I also added a bunch of these spices.
I LOVE Mrs. Dash seasonings.
We try not to use salt at our house and these have saved my
"cooking" life.
I especially like to add a little of that Curry in this soup.
It gives it a punch!
I do not measure spices. I just sprinkle it on.
Since there's no salt...it sure won't be too salty. :)

Before serving...add a little milk.
YUM!

While that is cooking...SEW!
Here is a fun project I worked on today.
It took NO TIME at all to change this
BLAH sweater into this..

Sweater.

I Love doing this kind of thing.
I found the sweater at the thrift store.
It is SOOO soft....but those sleeves were way too long.

I cut 'em off!
Trimmed them with some of my left over binding.

Added a little piece of fabric and buttons at the top.

I like it!

And those sleeves are now the right size for me.
I don't like long sleeves and these are now perfect.

I'm so glad some of my favorite binding matched my
NEW SWEATER!
