The present thesis aims to analyse the manner in which the ethnically and culturally diverse environment of Eastern Anatolia during the Hellenistic era has influenced the royal houses of the Mithradatids, Ariarathids, Ariobarzanids and Commagenian Orontids. The focus of analysis will be represented by the contact and osmosis between two of the major cultural influences present in the area, namely the Iranian (more often than not Achaemenid Persian) and Greco-Macedonian, and the way in which they were engaged by the ruling houses, in their attempt to establish, preserve and legitimise their rule. This will be followed in a number of fields: dynastic policies and legitimacy conceptions, religion, army and administration. In each of these fields, discrete elements betraying the direct influence of one or the other cultural traditions will be followed and examined, both in isolation and in interaction with other elements, together with which they form a diverse, but nevertheless coherent whole. The eventual result of this analysis will be to demonstrate how the intersection of cultures and the willing appropriation by the ruling houses of what we might call, using a modern term, ‘multiculturalism’ has created a new, interesting and robust tradition, whose influence would endure well into the Roman era.

The current article tries to explain the origins of Mussolini's Fascism and his foreign policy doctrine, by examining the political and ideological contexts of pre-Fascist Italy. This approach offers a wider analysis of the general conditions which enabled the surge of Mussolini's Far-right movement, such as the political instability, the fear of Communism

Integrarea europeana propriu-zisa a fost lansata în practica prin Planul Schuman (9 mai 1950) care chema la reconcilierea franco-germana, la constituirea Comunitatii Europene a Carbunelui si Otel 949r1720j ului si la înfiintarea unui organism supranational: Înalta Autoritate CECO. Prin Tratatul de la Paris (1951) s-a înfiintat prima comunitate economica europeana CECO, formata din 6 state (Luxemburg) -Europa celor 6 (azi 25). Punând în comun, sub conducerea unei autoritati supranationale, industria Carbunelui si Otel 949r1720j ului a Frantei si Germaniei a devenit imposibil un razboi între cele 2 state. Cele 2 natiuni erau despartite de o rivalitate multiseculara care a generat razboaie pustiitoare: Razboiul de 30 ani (sec.XVII), Razboiul de 7 ani (sec.XVIII), Razboaiele napoleo-niene(1800-1815), Razboiul franco-prusac (1870), Primul Razboi Mondial, Al Doilea Razboi Mondial, Parisul a fost ocupat de 2 ori: în1870 si 1940. si iata ca la exact 5 ani de la ziua victoriei împotriva lui Hitler (9mai 1950) a demarat procesul reconcilierii istorice franco-germane care a devenit o realitate efectiva, cu forta paradigmatica. De-a lungul ultimelor decenii, un câmp de bataie a fost transformat într-una din cele mai prospere zone economice ale lumii, iar cuplul Franta-Germania a devenit motorul integrarii europene. Evident, este un bun model pentru o reconciliere între România si Ungaria. Franta si Germania au înteles ca au mult mai mult de câstigat prin reconciliere decât prin conflict, si ca în acest fel îsi servesc mai bine interesul national.

In this chapter the authors tackle the analysis and characterization of the artistic animated movies in view of constituting an automatic content-based retrieval system. First, they deal with temporal segmentation, and propose cut, fade and dissolve detection methods adapted to the constraints of this domain. Further, they discuss a fuzzy linguistic approach for automatic symbolic/semantic content annotation in terms of color techniques and action content and we test its potential in automatic video classification. The browsing issue is dealt by providing methods for both, static and dynamic video abstraction. For a quick browse of the movie’s visual content the authors create a storyboard-like summary, while for a “sneak peak” of the movie’s exciting action content they propose a trailer-like video skim. Finally, the authors discuss the architecture of a prototype client-server 3D virtual environment for interactive video retrieval. Several experimental results are presented.

The objective of this paper was to prepare and characterize alumina coatings developed on AISI 316L stainless steel by aluminizing treatment using micro-arc plasma oxidation in an aqueous solution containing 0.1 M NaAlO2 and 0.05 M NaOH. The obtained films were characterized by SEM microscopy and EDS analysis as well as by Tafel polarization curves and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Comparative results for steel samples subjected previously to two different surface pre-treatments (oxidation either by cyclic voltammetry in 0.1 M NaOH or in an autoclave with deionised water) were discussed.

Cardiovascular diseases are the most distributed cause of death worldwide. Stenting of arteries as a percutaneous transluminal angioplasty procedure became a promising minimally invasive therapy based on re-opening narrowed arteries by stent insertion. In order to improve and optimize this method, many research groups are focusing on designing new or improving existent stents. Since the beginning of the stent development in 1986, starting with bare-metal stents (BMS), these devices have been continuously enhanced by applying new materials, developing stent coatings based on inorganic and organic compounds including drugs, nanoparticles or biological components such as genes and cells, as well as adapting stent designs with different fabrication technologies.
