Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and Professor of Higher Education, Professor Kerri-Lee Krause is an experienced university executive who is recognised nationally and internationally for her contributions to higher education policy, research and practice.
Current national leadership roles include: Deputy Chair, Higher Education Standards Panel; Chair, Universities Australia Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) Committee. Recent leadership roles include Chair, Ministerial Implementation Working Group for the Transparency of Higher Education Admissions and Co-chair, Universities Australia Executive Women’s Committee. Current Board Directorships include: Non-Executive Director, Education Services Australia; Non-Executive Director, Higher Education Services; Non-Executive Director Edugrowth - Edtech Innovation Ecosystem. Professor Krause has a track record of leading university-wide strategic change and organisational renewal. Experience includes: outcomes driven strategy development and execution; academic workforce strategy refresh to achieve research and academic priorities; academic program renewal; faculty engagement and policy alignment; and systemic improvement of the student experience and outcomes.
International leadership in higher education quality enhancement has been recognised through such appointments as international reviewer for the Scottish Quality Assurance Agency. She is internationally recognised for research on the contemporary undergraduate student experience and implications for quality and standards in institutional settings. Professor Krause is a lifetime fellow of the international Society for Research in Higher Education (SRHE) and has published widely in the field of higher education policy and practice.

I conclude with three propositions about the importance of 'value anchors' in a sea of change and transformation:
1. Quality in Australian higher education is and will continue to be more important than ever. We are operating in a context where the fundamental question is: what’s higher and enduring about higher education? what can be trusted in HE these days and how do we know?
2. Familiar concepts such as that of a university ‘student’, a university ‘experience’ and a university ‘degree’ are and will continue to be challenged. Our threshold concepts in this regard are being disrupted by such developments as microcredentials, nano offerings and the unbundling and rebundling of credentials.
3. In order to be part of shaping the future of Australian and indeed global higher education, an ecosystemic perspective will be essential. We need to develop a mindset that is characterised by Ron Barnett’s ‘ecological’ approach.
