Previous researches on manufacturing strategies and competitive strategies to measure firm performance guided the manufacturers towards further developments. To emphasize these developments, this study continued after the development of strategic fit models by generalizing these models through linear structural relations (LISREL) analysis. Results from hypotheses tests and LISREL analysis found manufacturing metrics are directly linked to firm's performance. This article found strong relation of availability of materials (AM) to order variation handling (OVH) & order fill rate (OF); OVH, problem handling (PH), & OF to shipment time (ST); and ST to strategic fitness (SF).

For having a wide range of risks, Ready Made Garments (RMG) sector faces different difficulties in accomplishing their missions and goals. This paper has identified different risks associated with internal supply chain of the RMG sector. To achieve the expected outcome from this study, a renowned apparel factory named TALISMAN (BD), a branch of FCI GROUP, has been visited. 58 risks in 11 different departments have been identified by discussing about the process with the experts and experienced personnel of those departments along with the previous historical data of that factory. Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) has been used to identify the most severe risk of each department. Some corrective actions have also been suggested to eliminate the most severe risks of all department to enhance the overall efficiency of the supply chain.

The aim of this research is to reduce aluminum casting defects by optimizing proportion of water and bentonite added to a recycled sand mold. Aluminum 356 alloy was preferred for this research based on the traditional method of trial and error twelve castings were performed with the different proportion of sand, bentonite, and water. A five scale rating method has been applied to rate the casted product upon number of defects. This research has been carried out by analyzing the variance (ANOVA) by using Minitab 17.0 software and finally concludes with the optimum level of composition for casting Al with the result of 90% sand, 5% bentonite, and 5% water.

Habitation system, imbalance diet and tight economy condition make them compel to lead a hazardous life even to the way of death. The causes of the health hazards including the industrials production, dyeing, washing and others sectors that involved the effect of cotton dust, chemical reagents, poor ergo-nomic design and others are integrated in this paper. This paper also shows the severity of cotton dust on the human body and a survey on the worker's health hazards in percentage of the different problems and diseases. In addition, they are renewable as well as biodegradable, and indeed wide varieties of fibers are locally available. In this study, glass–jute fiber reinforced polymer composite is fabricated, and the mechanical properties such as tensile , flexural and impact behavior are investigated. The materials selected for the studies were jute fiber and glass fiber as the reinforcement and epoxy resin as the matrix. The hand layout technique was used to fabricate these composites. Fractured surface were comprehensively examined in scanning electron microscope (SEM) to determine the microscopic fracture mode. A numerical procedure based on the finite element method was then applied to evaluate the overall behavior of this composite using the experimentally applied load. Results showed that by incorporating the optimum amount of jute fibers, the overall strength of glass fiber reinforced composite can be increased and cost saving of more than 30% can be achieved. It can thus be inferred that jute fiber can be a very potential candidate in making of composites, especially for partial replacement of high-cost glass fibers for low load bearing applications.

Products need to be classified appropriately for inventory classification, optimization and inventory forecasting. In this paper, the authors propose an integrated FAHP (fuzzy analytic hierarchy process) for multiple criteria ABC inventory classification. The analytical comparison of AHP and FAHP are also discussed. A case study was made in Unilever Brothers Ltd. Khulna, Bangladesh to observe the effects of fuzzy analytical hierarchy process. The proposed FAHP methodology is used to determine the weights of criteria which represents the ratio of how much more important one criterion is than another. The main objective of this paper is to implement the FAHP in the warehouse of Bangladesh.

Since a qualified supplier is a vital element for a buyer in reducing such costs, evaluation and selection of the potential suppliers has become an important component of supply chain management. Most supplier selection models consider various tangible and intangible characteristics of suppliers. AHP, FAHP, FUZZY TOPSIS, DEA, ANP, ANN, FIS, GA etc. are the supplier selection and evaluation approaches that have different process to select and evaluate a supplier that has been focused in this paper and also classified individually and combined based on the previous researches. To analysis the cost the MOLP method and the Multi Criteria Decision making tools (MCDM) have been included in this paper to take the decision and to select the suppliers more accurately and makes a reflection on the effective suppliers selection criteria like supplier reliability, product quality and supplier experience etc. and also suggests on the most quantitative results on cost effective methods and supplier selection approaches.

Because of their high strength-to-weight and stiffness-to-weight ratios, they are extensively used for a wide variety of structural applications as in aerospace, automotive, medical science and marine industries. In this paper the mechanical behavior of jute fiber-aluminum (Al) powder polymer composite has been investigated experimentally. The materials selected for the studies were jute fibres and aluminum powder as the reinforcement and epoxy resin as the matrix. The hand layout technique was used to fabricate these composites. Composite plates were prepared by incorporating jute fiber and aluminum powder at 8 and 16 volume percent in epoxy matrix. Results showed that the overall tensile strength, impact property, hardness, Young modulus and comparison of strength of hybrid composites (reinforced by both powder and fiber) is higher than other single reinforced composites. By incorporation of natural fibers and metal powder into the polymer, the mechanical properties almost enhanced to greater extent. It can thus be inferred that jute fiber and Al powder can be a very potential candidate in making of composites for low load bearing applications.
