Merry Christmas + 200 Posts!!! Oh my!!

Merry Christmas!!!

It's been a busy start to winter for me and there hasn't been nearly enough time spent sewing.  I hope to remedy that in January and do a lot of creating.  Who knows... maybe even finishing some things!!

For the first time in many years, I've gone all out and decorated my home for Christmas and I'm hosting a family dinner today.  I can't wait!

Did you see what was in the title of my post?  TWO HUNDRED BLOG POSTS??!!? What?!? How did that happen?  I'm not always the most consistent blogger, but I absolutely love having a journal of my work and adventures.  And being able to connect with friends, family and other quilters around the world is a wonderful bonus! I started blogging in December of 2007 and quilting in September of 1998.  It's my 20th year of quilting!!! There aren't enough exclamation points to go around!

To celebrate this big event, I'm going to have my first ever giveaway!  Of course I have nothing prepared....that's so me!  After a bit of thought, I've decided that due to my love of scraps and how much I enjoy making zippy pouches, that I will make a zippy pouch and fill it with 2" squares and send it off to the lucky winner.  Please leave a comment.  I would love to hear how you found me and if you have been a reader for a while.  I'll draw a winner on New Year's Day.

Now let's get to the quilty part of my post--  I've been working hard to finish up my Scrap Happy Sampler top.  The wedge border has been a doozy.  Lots of trimming and digging through my scraps to get a wide variety fabrics. It's getting there!! We aren't going to talk about that spinny square block on the left.  Nope.  Not talking about it!! =O  I would be absolutely delighted if I could have this all together by the New Year.  Not a bad goal!

Have a Very Merry Christmas!!

Finish! Rainbow String - Peacock Quilt

Happy finish news to report!  I am done with a long time UFO--Hooray!!!

While working on this quilt, I called it the Rainbow String Blocks.  Even though it isn't really a rainbow, because there are only cool colors in it.  While working on the binding, my friend said, "that looks like a peacock!"  I love it!!!  There is a peacock feel to it.  So, now that it is complete, I'll change the name to the Peacock Quilt.

This was an attempt to use up scraps and really, I didn't make a dent.  If anything, I took on other people's scraps in order to have more variety!! =O

In the beginning:

This quilt was part of my goals for Finish-A-Long Q3 and I made it in before the deadline.  Woo-hoo!

Also, it is the time of the year for the Blogger's Quilt Festival.  I haven't ever participated before, but this year I am!  Visit Amy's Creative Side to find out all the details and view many, many gorgeous quilts.  They are randomly drawing names for prizes (as opposed to having people vote in the past).  I think it is a great idea, because everyone who takes part is on a level field, even if you are a 'small blogger', like me!  ðŸ˜Š

I'll leave you with one more pic of my quilt and my little helper, Fannie.  She was being extra cute while I was taking pictures!  ❤

Fannie's Fleece Jacket

Yesterday I made the cutest little fleece jacket for my furbaby, Fannie.  She has zero need for a jacket.  She loves the snow and doesn't mind the cold at all.  Her favorite thing to do is to make snow angels by rolling around and when she is done with that, she eats the snow.  Kind of crazy!!  We have had another difficult cold snap this week.  The wind chill factors were well below zero for our walks. I'm hoping that spring weather is not too far away!!  But in the meantime, she can look adorable when I take her to daycare! =)

The pattern is from Simplicity.  The title said "It's so easy" and it was!!! I might be tempted to make a few more.

In other sewing news-- I made another zippy pouch.  This one is from Lazy Girl Designs, the Sweetpea Pods.  The pattern was well written, but I'm not totally in love with it.  It's ok.  Maybe I'll keep my clover clips in it?
