Eventually, he became sick with the plague & isolated himself. A hunting dog befriended him, brought him food every day, and licked his wounds. Saint Roch ended up imprisoned the rest of his life when he was mistaken as a spy. It is said that an angel appeared in his cell after he died revealing who he was.
