Susan Powers on Instagram: "👌Using *This or That* exit slips transforms the way we quickly assess our students conceptual understanding and supports agency.

✏️ Why?** They spark critical & creative thinking by requiring students to choose and justify their answers.

✏️What?** These slips are a quick, reflective tool to gauge conceptual understanding and misconceptions.

✏️How?** At the end of a lesson, inquiry, group work etc. students choose between two concepts or ideas, explaining their reasoning—empowering them to articulate their learning while providing YOU with insightful INFORMATION to guide future instruction. 👌

In 2nd grade, students start to measure with standard units such as inches, feet, yards, centimeters, and meters. I lay out how I teach this measurement unit in my second grade classroom. There are lesson ideas, great read alouds for literacy connects, as well as a project based learning activity that I did to assess my students transfer of their conceptual understanding of measurement. These ideas could be adapted for 1st grade, or 3rd grade as well. #length #lessonplans #commoncore #2nd Centimeters And Meters, Data Activities, Teacher Collaboration, Teaching Measurement, Project Based Learning Math, Second Grade Classroom, Conceptual Learning, Three Digit Numbers, Measurement Activities
