I am very pleased to share with you my very first

pattern that I have produced!

"Goodnight, Darlene!"

If you like using up your strings in

2 contrasting colors, this is the pattern for you!
I was excited to be able to share this pattern

with some quilters at The Quilted Fox
 for my very first

workshop with this particular quilt.

And if there is any interest, I would 

potentially be open to selling this pattern?

I would like to see if there is

any interest, before I went into

a larger amount of copies.

knowledge of the pattern writing process,

We had so much fun playing in our strings with this

workshop!

Quilters, with machines humming.

Sewing strings up into beautiful things!

This group of quilters were so wonderful to 

work with.  Each of them understanding

this was the first time out of the gate

working with this pattern.

I so appreciated their patience

and forgiveness for minor hiccups.

Each of the quilters were working with

a different color palette.

It was a joy experiencing them create!

Each of them mastering the various units

needed to complete this design.

Did I tell you how much FUN  this was????

What a great day we had!

Scrap Club hosted by Kevin the Quilter

met for the first time this year.

Our Spring 2019 Session revolves

around getting our scraps and stash

organized!

We are also making a project inspired by

Trees.  Each project must include a tree,

either pieced or appliqued within it.

Look at this beautiful quilt made by Barb!

She won the Scrap Block lotto for the month of

September.

She beyond surprised me by telling me, she made

this quilt for me!

HOLY! COW!

What a beautiful and cherished quilt this is for me!

Snow Day, Sew Day...........

Hey Scrappy Quilters!

We all KNOW that a snow day, is a SEW DAY!  

YAY!

Come along with me on a pictorial adventure during the recent 
snowstorm in my neck of the woods!

"Good Fortune" Mystery

The Quiltville Mystery is a completed top

thanks to the weather this past weekend.

Ta-Dah!!!!!!

I love the Halloween-esque colors I went with.

If you can't see this as a Halloween looking quilt

I am not sure what to tell you?

Frankenstein greens and pumpkin oranges,

combined with the night colors of purple and black.

Yep......pretty much Halloween looking to me?

I thought this was kind of a cool shot
in the snow?

Thanks to Bonnie's concise instructions on the construction

of this quilt, it sewed up beautifully.

Her seam guide ruler truly is my best friend!

How much snow did I get here.......

Well, it was 11 inches at this point......

all in all I got 13 inches!

I'm getting every last cent out of that quilt ruler!

LOLOLOL

It kept snowing............

and snowing...........

and snowing........

until the cedar trees were so weighed down

with snow, you couldn't even see

the Quilt Cave!

I truly haven't seen this much snow in this area

in many, MANY years!

You want me to do WHAT out there in the snow?!?!?!?

Ummmm........we DON'T think so!

LOLOLOLOL

So, what else do you do on a snow day

besides sew?????

Make snow cream!

This was the perfect snow to do this with!

Just add sugar to taste, vanilla, and some evaporated milk

and stir!

Put together a quilt puzzle.

Isn't this a cool one?

Watch the neighbor children up the road build

a 10 foot 9 inch snow man!

WOW!!!!!

And......

be very thankful to a nice 

neighbor that owns a tractor!

I would have never been able to get out had my

neighbor Mike not plowed my drive for me!

Did you know that turkeys don't 

mind the snow that much?

Of course I don't let them stay out in it for very long.

The chickens?  Well, they would rather stay in the coop

on a snow day!

New Year.......New Beginnings..........

Happy 2019 Quilters!!!!!

I have hit the ground running, as they say!
2019 is a year full of quiltiness.
I will be teaching, lecturing, and sharing my life
more than I ever have with all of you!  It will be a make it or break it year for me.
I will hopefully be able to answer several questions for my future as to whether I can pursue this passion in my life called quilting, and make do with less flying.

New Year's Day sewing......and eating!

Gotta have them black-eyed peas on the first day

of the new year!

Now, if the other 364 days could be just like this

with good food, and good sewing!

was completed on New Year's Day!

I was then off to Rockford, Illinois

to share with the

Sinnissippi Quilters.

It was a very nice drive.....and I kept on seeing

FLYING GEESE!

In the air, and on bridges!!!!

I had 2 trunkshows/lectures with this guild, one during

the day, and one at night.

I think that is so nice that they offer 2

different meetings for those who work

and can't make it to the day time session.

Huffman's Hotties made an appearance!

These gals were a hoot!

My most sincere apologies to the Hotties

during the evening trunk show.....no pic!!!!

I was greeted by this sweet quilter, Sue who blogs at

Blessings of Thread.

We have chatted back and forth via emails, 

and it was so nice to finally meet her!

Thanks for coming and supporting me Sue!

The t-shirt I am wearing was a gift from

my sister for Christmas!

And, this is Susan, who also came to see me.

I love meeting those of you who enjoy reading the ole'blog!

In between lectures I was able to chat with one of the 

many talented quilters that belong to this group.

This is Robin Gausebeck who I had the pleasure of meeting.

I knew who she was immediately when I saw her.

Stockholm Inn.

Who knew Rockford, Illinois was so

Swedish inspired???

We had an amazing dinner, and wonderful conversation!

I wanted authentic Swedish food since I have never had

any to my knowledge?

I ordered the Kroppkakor.

Interesting....

I absolutely loved the cardamon roll and

lingonberry coffee!

And look whose portrait was on the wall

staring at me???

And who knew Sock Monkeys were created in

Rockford, Illinois???

The next day it was time to

RISE & SHINE

Quilting time!

I LOVE this shirt my sister

got me for Christmas!

She did really good this year! LOLOL

We had to rise and shine for a "String Star" workshop

held at the Swedish American Hospital in Rockford.

We had a nice work area where machines were

humming, and strings were flying.

Truth be told, these quilters were very

experienced, and didn't need much help from me.

But, we all had a lot of fun!

Marge was my contact for this guild, and 

here she is very pleased with her first

string pieced diamond.

Crisp neutral diamond sections waiting to be pressed.

We were visited by Dee who brought in some fun

antique quilts to examine.

Look at this.....I love it.....crumb/string piecing

made into columns.

This quilt was amazing!

Each block has 100 triangles in it.....

do you see the quarter to gauge the size?

I suggested it be a Leader/Ender project for Bonnie Hunter! 

LOL

Before long, stars were coming together!

Talking design decisions with quilters is so much fun!

We had a very successful class!

I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Rockford!

While I was travelling, the final reveal

of "Good Fortune" came out!

I couldn't wait to start assembling my

I have a feeling I may be snowed in this weekend....
