Last Event at Ragley Gallery "Small Objects Of Desire"

I just wanted to let you know that sadly Ragley Gallery and Studios is closing at the end of this year.
Ragley Hall have other plans for the stables and Dawn Harris is hoping that she will be able to find new premises.
I am very upset for all the artists at Ragley Gallery as it was a wonderful place to work, exhibit and learn.
I'm in the process of organising a new studio space, which I hope to share with you soon.
Our last event details are below and we are having a great range of talented artists exhibiting together for a final show.

The little something that shows you care, the one that’s different, special, unique (but not going to break the bank)?

A Mural For Kenilworth

In the Summer I spent time painting a mural for Clinton Primary school in Kenilworth.
This large area is their new art zone with several music rooms leading from it. I wanted to paint the landscapes that inspire me, the ones from my own childhood memories, the landscapes in Warwickshire and the changing seasons.
I hope these murals will inspire the children in art, music, dance and poetry.

Still Stitching

I am still here!
My blog has been neglected due to many hours of stitching on small and very large works.
So much has happened in the last few weeks, my sisters wedding in the most beautiful location of Ravello in Italy!
If I can get myself organised I will share a few of the many photos I took around the mountains and my visits to Pompeii and Herculaneum.
Before my trip I visited Solihull Embroiderers Guild to give a workshop, everyone was very welcoming and enthusiastic, which made it a very enjoyable day.
On Saturday I will be travelling to Northampton Embroiderers Guild to give a talk on my textiles and paintings, looking forward to meeting everyone there.

At the moment I'm busy preparing for the annual Warwickshire Open Studios which opens on the 28th June.
I  will be working from my studio which is situated in the beautiful grounds of Ragley Hall, it is here you will see my passion for threads! I will have my large textiles on display with my paintings, drawings and tree brooches.
We have at least ten other artists exhibiting together, you can find full details here http://ragleygallery.co.uk/exhibitions/warwickshire-open-studios-2014/
It will make a lovely day out where you can chat with the artists, enjoy the large variety of artwork on show, and perhaps partake in a gentle stroll through the woodland walk after tea and cake.

Spring Poem

Hello,

This week Spring arrived through mists and fog, every where I looked bursts of colour became visible in the gardens at Ragley.

I thought I would share with you a poem I wrote inspired by the changing seasons.

The Woods

The woods are sleeping a restless sleep.
Huge hands reach up and claw a polished sky.
Golden gowns lay rotted, devoured by the earth.
Trembling in icy winds they whisper in their creaks and cracks.
Exposed, raw wounds.
Listening for the bird song, inviting them to dance.
When heavens chorus begins the virgin buds will bloom.
Spring takes Winter and leads him back to bed.
The trees uplift their heavy sleepy heads.

Next week ( on Saturday) I am running a sketch and stitch workshop at Ragley Hall.
I'm hoping the weather will stay fair so we can make the most of the stunning landscapes, fingers crossed!

Garden Walks & The Studio at Ragley

Hello,

We packed up the exhibition on Friday which was so quick compared to putting it all up and arranging everything!
I always feel slightly sad about packing everything away, sorting out where some work will now journey to other places and find new homes.
This time though instead of cramming my house with my art work I am now able to have a selection of my work on permanent display at the Gallery and studios at Ragley Hall.
This week the first signs of Spring were evident at Ragley with an abundance of snowdrops, carpeting the woodlands surrounding the gallery.
Ragley gardens will be open on select days throughout the year giving garden lovers the opportunity to marvel at the changing seasons on days when they are usually closed to the public.
Next week they will be open on the 26th & 27th February for the Snowdrop & Winter garden walk.
Do check out all the details here.
The gallery will also be open on those days and also the Terrace café will be open for refreshments.
I will be there on the Thursday the 27th, so if you do visit, come and say hello at the gallery and studios!
You will find a great selection of different art works on show as we now have five studio artists based at the gallery.

Now that the exhibition is finished I have started another set of work, developing more of my sketches and continuing to translate them into threads.
The drawings are visual poems, a series of studies, which link together and those images contain narratives, a landscape can hold many stories.

Exhibition "Powerful Forces"

Hello,

The exhibition at The Michael Heseltine Gallery has been open for three weeks and we have now have just two weeks until it closes on Thursday 13th of February.
I thought I would share some of my images of the exhibition which I have shown on my  facebook
page.
I will be there the next two Sundays with the sculptor George Wagstaffe ( we are open 10.00am until 4.00pm)
The exhibition is open Monday to Friday 9.00am until 5.00pm.
I managed just about to get through the opening despite a heavy cold, I think the adrenaline got me through it!

Just to let you know I will not be exhibiting at the NEC this year despite one of my stitched pieces featuring on the front of The Fashion Embroidery Stitch leaflets!!
They took the image when I was at the show last year.
I decided I wanted to spend more time on my work so I had something new to show another year and also I had other commitments.
