"Ripples"

5 x 7"
oil on masonite
sold

detail

My friends enjoying a cool afternoon in the pool. This was great fun to paint. Not sure if I could pull it off - started at the top, above water, with tiny strokes and details - once I got below water, my brush just followed the ripples and distortion of the figure. Lots of colors, lots of swirls, wonder light - very fun to paint.

"Mellow"

10 x 8"
oil on masonite
sold

I'm gonna tell you, painting this was my moment of Zen. Getting ready for my trip to Seattle this week - framing and packaging and shipping over 15 paintings - finding something to wear that doesn't have paint on it - I was in great need of mellowing out, not even thinking this would be perfect for the letter M in my alphabet series. It's a bit larger than the usual, 8 x 10", I wanted more empty area around her.

An additional note....... the entire body of work, for my show opening this coming Saturday night, can now be viewed on my website and on YouTube. Hope you enjoy them.

"The Color Purple"

8 x 10"

oil on masonite

sold

I'm sorry - I know the title is a bit unoriginal - but really, it's that rich, purple overcoat that is the best feature of this new painting. And you think you know purple until you paint it. The image does not quite capture the vivid colors nor the slight changes from blue-purples to red-purples to brown-purples. I really worked at it. The room is made of shapes and tones that compliment that purple - with less emphasis on the art in the gallery and more on the figure.

"Morning Market"

6 x 6"

oil on masonite

sold

This may be a little odd for me - to leave out surroundings altogether but, visually speaking, the morning green market was filled with bright, blinding light - and that is what made me notice this woman most of all. So I chose to "spotlight" her, in my own way.
