To top it off...

I just love to add a little extra something special to cupcakes ...

like a simple "cupcake topper"!

1. punch desired shape using a paper punch
2. draw (or print) your design of choice
3. add a little color with paint (or glitter would be awesome too!)
4. punch another shape from coordinating paper and adhere to first shape

5. place a dab of hot glue to the back of shapes and add stick
6. place another punched shape to the back to cover the glue and stick
(AND because it's always nice to look pretty from behind too :)!)

7. add a little ribbon

8. then place atop your yummy cupcake and enjoy!

 off to Princess #2's class
to help celebrate her 9th birthday today!

Oh happy day indeed!

Many Blessings,
Jill

Don't forget!

just a simple ring I created...
as a pretty little "reminder ring"-
a bit like the classic ribbon tied around the finger to help one remember something!
(or in my case,  remember LOTS of somethings!)

I chose large white vintage buttons from my collection,
and lovely dyed silk ribbon from one of my favorite ribbon sources!-

tied the ribbons in a sweet bow on top
and sealed the ribbon edges with Fray Check...

then simply glued the buttons to a ring base-

and now I'm hoping to remember things just a bit better!-
(if only I don't forget to put on the ring!)

and don't you forget- to have a wonderful weekend!
many blessings!
Jill
p.s. good grief!- I am NOT 110 years old!- even though my hand sure looks it!
evidently I need to "remember" to use my hand lotion a little more often! *smile!*

A pocket full of posies...

quite literally!
A simple little spring surprise I created for Princess #2...

beginning with a t-shirt I found with a tiny pocket...
(from Walmart for $4.50!- they have other colors too!)

then using one of my all-time favorite creative supplies:
fabric scraps!
do you save all your scraps too?
sometimes just seeing them all together makes me smile!- so bright & cheerful!

I simply cut my designs from chosen scraps,
layered circles and strips for the stems,
and stitched them to the shirt!
(I did use heat-n-bond first for durability, I also chose to stitch
a bit away from the edges to allow a little fraying- which I love!)

but my favorite part of this little project was how excited Princess #2 was
with her new "spring surprise"!-
and then finding she had prepared her little outfit for the day...

complete with her precious accessories!
just melts my heart!!

all from a simple "pocket full of posies"!

Happy weekend! &
Many Blessings!

a little inspiration {board}...

just a lovely little spot for current inspirations...
so simple to create...

1. select a frame
2. using cork tiles, cut cork to frame opening size
3. adhere cork to inside frame ( I used hot glue)
4. embellish thumb tacks,
using fabrics (I chose raw silks)
cut in petal shapes,
then stitch together and add sequins or beads for flower centers,
to finish, simply hot glue flowers to thumb tack tops

now fill with your current inspirations...

and enjoy!

Have a wonderful weekend!
Many Blessings!

Just stepped out...

we packed-up our "perfect happy little summer shoes" last week,
and headed out for a little summer holiday...
we're enjoying lots of special celebrations and sweet times
with our family and friends!
I just popped-in to share *again*(by an overwhelming amount of requests!)
the tutorial for the "perfect happy little shoes for summer" ...

1. begin with a plain pair of flip-flops
2. cut a butterfly shape from your choice of fabric
(I chose two for extra stability)
3. stitch the two fabrics together using embroidery floss
4. cut a slightly larger butterfly shape from another fabric
and loosely stitch a gather in the center

5. cut a fourth piece of fabric in a strip and stitch down the center and ruffle,
then stitch all pieces together down the center
6. cut a long narrow strip of fabric and tie around the butterfly body,
knotting at the top, trim ends to form "antennas"
7. sew a vintage bead or stone for the butterfly head
8. simply attach the butterflies to the flip-flops using hot glue
(and I added a few stitches using an upholstery needle too)
and now try on your new perfect happy little summer shoes!

and enjoy!

Have a wonderful week!!
Many Blessings!

"...with a cherry on top!"

a really cute,
little,
happy,
hand-created
cherry on top!

1. gather a few favorite fabrics in "cheery cherry colors" of your choice and
cut circles large enough to wrap and cover wooden beads.
2. apply Mod Podge to fabric and wooden bead, wrap fabric around bead, gathering at the bead top.
3. use thin wire to form cherry "stem", wrap in floral tape, trim and shape as desired.
4. stick finished "stem" through top bead hole.

repeat until desired amount of happy little cherries have been created!

after all...
life is just a bit sweeter when enjoyed with a "cherry on top!"

and speaking of sweet...
be sure and stop by my precious friend Heather's this week!
She is hosting an AMAZING week filled with lots of fun and special guests!
(I'll be joining her this Friday! and I can hardly wait!)

Happy Monday!
Many Blessings!

{family} bracelets...

similar to a friendship bracelet...
a family bracelet
because,
"families are forever!" (and extra special too!)

to create ours,
we each chose three different fabrics,
then simply tore them into strips and braided them...

for the ends we knotted and shredded them a bit to form
a messy pom-pom...

I like to wear mine with other bracelets too...
a sweet *fun* reminder of my precious family!

"A cord of three strands is not quickly broken."
Ecclesiastes 4:12

Hope ya'll have a wonderful holiday weekend!
We're off to celebrate with our family! "See" you Tuesday!
Many Blessings!

Just what the Dr. ordered!

After a looong few weeks spent caring for very sick little ones...
(which just breaks my heart when all the cuddles and
mommy kisses in the world can't make it all better!)
a nice dose of crafty "medicine" was in order for this momma!

torn strips of fabric- ready and waiting to become shabby chic
little necklaces- using the basics from one of my favorite tutorials...

one down!
four more "doses" to go!

ahhh... feeling better already!
(and the little ones are on the mend too!)

Have a wonderful weekend!
Many Blessings!

Happy Tails!...a tutorial

How about a simple little "happy" you can create in just a few minutes?

guaranteed to make one happy ponytail!

or a happy wrist- since that's wear Princess #1 seems
to always wear her ponytail holders!

you begin by cutting fabric a bit larger
than a covered button form-I chose the 2 inch size for
a larger surface to embellish...

following the directions that come with your covered buttons...
layer fabric, metal dome part of the button, wrap edges,
top with button back and crimp to seal...

pop your finished button out...
now the fun begins!
cut various shapes or designs from other fabrics to create
your desired button top...

adhere designs to the button top using Mod Podge...
once dry- apply a top coat to the entire button surface-
this protects the fabrics from dirt and stains...

and also provides a nice finish!

turn button over-
loop a thin ponytail through the button hole-

and pull through the loop to secure-

I like to make a little card to attach them for gift-giving...

I have given these SO many times!
and they always seem to be a big hit- with little girls AND big girls-
even mommies too!

I just package them in a little cello-bag tied with a ribbon
and some tulle...

and try to always keep some extra ones on hand!
they make great party favors, little happies-just because,
and birthday gifts!
(when I give them as a birthday gift, I make a whole little collection of them)

"Happy 'tails' to you! until we meet again..."

Have a wonderful weekend!
Many Blessings!
