Telephone Greetings

Good morning, all!  I have my first of two posts today.  This is my entry for the CASE Study challenge and the Create colour challenge.  The Create colours worked perfectly with this week's CASE Study challenge - a gorgeous Maile Belles special!  Maile is a one-layer master.  I pretty much want to Pin everything she makes.  :D

Unfortunately my Calypso Coral is looking a little orange in this photo but it is coral!  The Paper Smooches telephone is previously uninked so I'm happy to give it a moment in the spotlight and the Hero Arts sentiment is well loved and often inked - I love it's perfect simplicity!  See you back in a few hours for CASology!

Stamps:  (Telephone from Vogue Abode) Paper Smooches, (Sentiment from Just Saying Hi) Hero Arts

Happy Accident

Hello, Friday!  How good of you to come around so quickly!  :)  I've really had some awesome cardmaking time this week and have been enjoying catching up with challenges. Today I've got a three for one challenge deal.  I've used the sketch from RetroSketches, the colours from the Create Blog challenge and the inspiration picture from Paper Smooches Sparks.  The happy accident I mentioned in the title of this post is the background stamping.  As you can see, I managed to get the VersaMark ink all over the place leaving lots of little splotches on the background panel.  I was going to make another card base and try again but I decided I actually like how it looks.  Kind of distressed almost.  Tim Holtz I'm not but it works for me!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (Lucky Limeade, Tempting Turquoise, Basic Grey) Stampin' Up

Hexagonal Hello

Luis has been busy earning his son-in-law points this weekend by painting my mom's kitchen and living room.  I offered to help but Luis has no faith in my painting skills so I didn't argue when he said no thanks and scooted into the Craft Cave instead!  :)  I made this card for two challenges:  The Colour Throwdown and Paige's quilt-inspired card challenge over at the Create blog.  This is another one of those Unity stamps that I'd been admiring in my collection for ages but hadn't yet managed to ink up.  One day (like in a hundred years) I may have actually inked up every one of my stamps.  Uh huh...

After yesterday being 75 and so humid that the paper in my printer was soggy, today is cold and windy!  I really wish this weather would make up it's mind.  It's been such a strange winter.  Going to have to bundle up when we walk the hounds later and then we'll be hunkering down for the Oscars.  At least I will - Luis will spend the evening changing the channel every time he thinks I'm not paying attention!

Ribbon Tree

I finally had a day at home today after spending the last couple of days at my friend's house looking after Franklin.  I had hoped to spend all day in the Craft Cave but between workers being at the house (replacing our balcony which was on the verge of collapse) and Luis being at home this week with strained muscles in his back, I didn't get that much done. Luis has been home all week and is bored to tears and so, of course, is driving me mad!  I love him dearly but sick/injured men are really almost too much to handle!
Anyway I did manage to get a card made for the Create challenge to incorporate wood on your card.  I got a little casurina twig from outside, tied several green ribbon and fibre scraps to it and viola - a Christmas tree!  It's kind of a Charlie Brown scrawny type of tree but I like it.  :)

Autumn Beauty & RAK

I really don't know what possesses me to decide to fussy cut and paper piece such tiny designs but here I've done it again!  I cut lots of little leaves, popped them up on Pop Dots and added Glossy Accents to them.  The colours I used are from this week's ColourQ challenge and I'm also going to enter this over at Unity's monthly challenge (Autumn Harvest), Picture Perfect Creations (Fall/Halloween Specialty Challenge) and Create's Fall challenge.

I had a lovely surprise arrive in the mail yesterday.  Awhile back Amy Tsuruta had asked for some crafty storage ideas and I linked her up to my Craft Cave pictures.  As a thank you she sent out a little care package with stamps, notepaper, buttons and, of course, a fabulous card!  I was so excited although I'm not happy with Bermuda Customs.  They opened the package to "inspect" it and clearly just crammed everything back in and bent the card.  :( Typical.  I still love it though - especially the delicate stitching!
I also realised that I never posted a picture of the fabulous card Lynn Mangan sent when I won some blog candy from her.  Love all the layers and PTI goodness!

The Sky is the Limit

Ta dah!  Within 10 minutes of receiving my Market Street Stamps order I inked up the Bit of Burlap stamp and used it to give some funky texture to my sky.  That is a new record for me which makes it the second record of the day - the first being that my MSS and Twinery orders arrived exactly one week after I ordered them.  Pretty incredible for Bermuda!  The bright and bold colours on this card come from Kathy's Lily Pad Palette Challenge over at Lily Pad Cards.  And, although it may be a bit of a stretch, I'm going to enter this over at the Create Chevron Challenge.  Those stripes on the balloon sure look like chevrons to me!  :)

Boo!

***This is my 2nd post of the day.  Please scroll down for my Use It Tuesday post or click here!***

I love the funky colours at The Play Date Cafe challenge this week as well as the fun names they gave them - Slime Green, Frightful Fuscia, Putrid Purple and Black As Night.  They definitely put me in the Halloween mood so I pulled out this Purple Onion ghost stamp and got to work punching and layering circles and ghosts.  If you have a ghost you must have some "Boo" so I took some black letter stickers and sparkled them up a bit with some Gunmetal Stickles (which is also on the ghosts' eyes).  Wee Memories and Create are both having challenges for Halloween cards this week so I'm going to enter this card with them as well.

Surprise Package!

I got a phone call from my local shipping company this morning to say that a package had arrived for me.  A package?  Today?  I had no idea the place was even open on Saturdays!  Sweet!  So the puppies and I hopped into the car and tootled off to town to pick it up.  It was an order from Stampin' Up which included the new In Colour cardstock and ink pads -  just in time for this week's ColourQ challenge.  :)  Unfortunately I don't have any Bermuda Bay paper or ink (seems wrong doesn't it?) so I had to find a sub but I think it looks pretty close.  I decided to make a Back to School card using Papertrey Ink's School Time stamps.  I'm also going to enter this in A Passion for Papertrey's masculine challenge (because I think the colours would work for a little guy) and in the Create Back to School challenge

Supplies Used:
Cardstock: (White) Gina K, (Soft Suede, Lucky Limeade, Ialand Indigo) Stampin' Up, (Turquoise) Paperbilities
Stamps: (School Time) Papertrey Ink

Crafty Chick Birthday

Some cute little birdies came along this week with a sweet colour combination at 4 Crafty Chicks!  I used some Hero Arts stamps and a PTI sentiment to make a birthday card which I'm also going to enter over at this week's Create challenge.  Lots of fussy cutting here and more background stamping.  I love the subtle effect of stamping with Versamark.  I'm also loving my Doodlebug gems lately.  Each colour comes in 4 different sizes which is so handy. Gonna have to place an order for some more soon.  *Sigh*  A crafter's shopping is never complete!  :)
Supplies: CS: Bazzill, SU; Stamps: Hero Arts, PTI; Inks: VersaMark, VersaFine; Gems: Doodlebug
The cleaning frenzy is still ongoing.  We worked on the kitchen yesterday.  Pulled everything out of every cupboard - cleaned all the cupboards, weeded out stuff we don't need.  It's scary how fast things accumulate and how quickly you forget it's even there. We've got a ton of stuff put aside to take to The Barn (our local charity shop) and a few things for the dump and I'm feeling good about streamlining.  Luis keeps asking when I'm going to have a clear out in the Craft Cave!  Ha!  Silly boy...

Rainbows and Denim

***2nd post of the day!  Scroll down for CAS-ual Fridays and Lawnscaping***

So clearly I'm playing catch up after two weeks away as I have another card today for 2 more challenges - the JUGS rainbow challenge and the Create denim challenge.
And what better way to combine them than to have a rainbow of stars shooting across a denim sky!
I cut the denim patch from a skirt that, as cute as it is, will never fit over my hips again.  So instead of pitching it I thought I'd let it have a second life on this card.  The stars are from my trusty fun foam collection which I haven't dipped into in a while but I always have fun with it when I do.  Off to play some ball with the hounds!  Later, gators!
