The Orangutan conductor from Mary Poppins Returns. One of my favourite characters in the sequence.

So this concludes my Poppins design work. I was the only character desginer on this show, which was a mammoth, crazy achievment that I’ll forever be grateful for, however, the team of 2D animators who handled my work afterwards made the real magic in this production. Love and gratitude to the team and this experience

Our first glimpse inside the Royal Doulton Music Hall sees five flamingos, dancing Rob Marshall choreography in bedazzled tutus. These characters in particular had the most costume variants (half of which wont be posted here) and would be some of the trickiest to design, but some of the most fun I had with a character.
Stunning moment in the sequence animated by Sandro Cluezo -🎀🎀🎀🎀🎀

The boys are back for Mary Poppins Returns! And what an unexpected treat to design the newest versions of these iconic characters -
🐧🐧🐧🐧
Me and James Baxter got to do a little back and forth on these based off of some early Animation tests he produced. Our art team was based in a small corner of a huge, open, corporate floor in the Seven Dwarf building on the main Disney lot. Whilst everyone around us was number punching and shifting money from one production to another, we were getting to design an old school sequence and figuring what animals to put in which costumes. Baxter had an animation desk wheeled in where he would spend about 4 months making Animation tests and going back and forth with me on some model sheets. A total trip.

Our heroes, Shamus and Clyde from Mary Poppins Returns.
I finished on this project in the spring of 2017, and a lot of these drawings have been sitting with me for 2 years. I’m so excited and proud that we get to finally share it with the world! This project will be one of my proudest moments.
