I'm sorry for sacrificing your mech in the final battle, Baba...

I definitely prefer the old rumors spread by actual people over the false information regurgitated by SEO-optimized websites today

Really cute game! Also, sorry teachers and flowers, I had to prioritize keeping the umbrella up

The wrath of dough...

Twine/Sugarcube

Congrats!

This is really good! I'm glad I took the time to complete the spellbook!

Thank you for the moral support, Frederick

On the first day of my attempt to escape what the remnants of the UN were apparently referring to as the "North American Nuclear Exclusion Zone," my scooter broke down near a rusty abandoned trailer where a bunch of racoons had just eaten all of the food inside. The racoons fled through the broken windows as soon as I entered. After thoroughly searching the entire trailer, the only thing I could find was a Cirno Nendoroid.

10/10 would slowly die of radiation poisoning while having lively hardtack tea parties with Cirno again

The candy was delicious

Happy Mid-Autumn Festival! I really enjoyed your modern take on this legend!

Henrietta is named Henrietta because she's a hen

The worldbuilding is great for such a short game! I highly recommend that everyone purchase this limited edition WANrobo unit

Really impressive orchestration!

A pleasant and atmospheric soundtrack

I did mainly start with the bass lines, so I'm glad you thought they worked well with everything else!

Yeah, I intentionally leaned more into the "road trip" aspect than the "nuclear winter" when it came to the overall tone of the soundtrack since I'm a fan of post-apocalyptic series that are oddly upbeat (like Girls' Last Tour, Humanity Has Declined, etc.), and the main character Kat isn't taking things as seriously as she probably should be. The musical style is still supposed to give a rough idea of the level of technology that was reached before nuclear war broke out though.

Thanks! I tried my best to make it sound as videogamey as I could

Glad you like it! I guess it should ideally be enjoyable since you'd be hearing it a lot in an actual game haha

As you said for my submission, this also really sounds like a thematically cohesive soundtrack suitable for a video game, and the instrumentation is great!

Each song has a unique feeling and is nicely produced

Glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, this isn't an official KAIMA game or anything, just something I made for fun to try out PuzzleScript

This game is very cute and also very relatable, especially navigating the family group chat in Chinese haha

This is really good! The soundtrack is especially fitting!

Thanks, kc! I do want to expand on this world some more, but I'm not sure what the best platform would be yet. For now, just assume it was pretty much a mutually assured destruction situation in the far future lol

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks

Thanks! Yeah, I figured having a harsh penalty would be okay in this case since the game is pretty short and the player should fail at least a few times before figuring out what works best for them.

Thanks! I was considering adding something like that, but PICO-8 has pretty strict limits on a lot of things, including numbers, which wrap around at 32767. I'd have to change a lot of the code that handles distance to create a workaround (Internally, the distance is higher than what you see on screen). Maybe in the future though, if I feel like revisiting this game.

Thanks, Nami!

Oh, nice! Most of the people who've given me feedback said the game was too hard, but you did it!

This is really cool! The world is fun to explore, and I especially like the music. It is kind of confusing to navigate, but that's part of the charm of Yume Nikki-style games

Hm, I did sort of get a Madoka vibe from the characters when I was writing theme songs for them, but I didn't really think about it actively either. It is one of my favorite anime though, and I probably have been influenced by how Yuki Kajiura composes character themes! Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed the game!

Here's my bandcamp: https://lydianchord.bandcamp.com

I recently wrote the soundtrack for Her Tears Were My Light by NomnomNami, which is a great short visual novel to check out if you have about an hour to spare!

Hi, I'm the composer! I'm a huge fan of Nami's games, and I'm open to collaborating with her again in the future, so hopefully you'll get to hear similar music in another game!
