Finally got around to running this for a group of grade 6 kids at the TTRPG club I run at the school. The perfect system for a larger group with a short amount of time in which to play.  The kids are hooked and it’s such a lovely system to introduce RPGs to new players. It’s awesome to have creative ideas rewarded with an open and flexible system rather than punished by rules written in dense, prescriptive legalise.

Quick question, some of the kids really want to have a copy of the games but don’t really have the money, is there any way I can make a donation or repurchase on their some copies on their behalf? Let me know if there is an email or better avenue to talk about this

Thanks for your awesome work!

Hi  there! This looks great. Just a quick question, when the rules say +1 or -1, is it modifying the result of the roll, or the level of the die? For instance if you have +1 on a roll and roll a 4 on a d6, it the result 5? Or are you rolling a d8 and the +1 represents going up a die level? Thanks!

Hi there, regarding “Doing” and “step 1: Their player asks a question that can only be answered with yes or no”… why not just let them state what they want to do? Is Ian example as simple as them saying “Can I swing at the locked chest with my hammer?” I’m just confused as to the gameplay reason for needing the player’s action to be framed as a yes/no question.

Thank you :)

Hi there! Thanks for the recommendations. I’m a big Sly Flourish fan myself, at least 2-3 of the 8 steps make it into my prep every game I play, no matter what the system. I do always like having a one page dungeon or two up my sleeve to throw into a sandbox as an option, though.

After reading a lot of Jason’s blog, I checked out Vaults of Vaarn (https://itch.io/c/1583822/vaults-of-vaarn) and OH MY GOODNESS the “Creating a Region” tables in Vaarn #3 fit Exiles like a glove. It’s a science fantasy sandbox dream for anyone looking to generate content for their table. Don’t know when I’ll fit it in with life but I’m so excited to run a Vaarn-influenced Exiles/Xot/Zone mash up

Thank you for this! You have no idea of the rush I got reading these modules and having them tick so many of my boxes as a parent/GM: free form/narrative combat,  stat-less threats, partial success/failure mechanisms, little to no front end burden on new players. It’s an absolute dream for my sleep deprived mind. Thank you

Hi everyone,

The fiction shall set you free! Converting is a dream in 24XX. But this also leaves me with a a bit of “choice paralysis” as suddenly every adventure on the entire internet is a viable option for play.

What are your go-to modules for your 2400 games? I personally love the Xot/Zone/Exiles vibe of weird fiction/science fantasy and think some of the Into the Odd adventures would fit nicely (for example, the Positronic Library, or even aspects of the Iron Coral from Into the Odd.)

Bonus points for brevity and conciseness  as I’ve got an 11 month old and, boy oh boy, prep time is a thing of the past!

Got it, thank you! After reading a bunch of the 2400 games I am starting to get a feel for the writing style and format. I was subconsciously filling a lot of gaps with my own RPG baggage.

By the way, I love the spell dice system in MAGE, I will like,y include something like it in any fantasy/weird fiction 1400 or 2400 game I play. Can’t wait to run it

Just clarifying: in ‘Quest’ if you take damage you likely gain an Injury, if you take more damage while injured you likely die. However, in Below there are three levels of Harm, and if you take damage when all three levels are filled by Injury, then you die.

Am I getting that roughly right? Obviously it is what the fiction dictates, but the implication seems to be in Quest it’s Injury > death, but in Below it’s Mild > Moderate > Major > Death
