Game Description
Your neighbor needs help! But everything is not as it seems... Or is it???
How does your game tie into the theme?
The people of this neighborhood "haunt" the local Halloween store by loitering aggressively. And they may be undead?

this game has a fun, nostalgic vibe with its retro style and old-school mechanics, giving it a unique feel. someone mentioned MK-style sprites and they were spot on, that came to mind immediately! the ending was really funny as well. controls are a bit challenging but add to the charm, though a bit more combat variety would be nice. overall, it’s a creative and memorable experience that stands out. great work!
Really unique game!! Felt very old school or even like the "Only Up" style of games! I think you could've leaned into that concept more with the hard controls. I wish I could've joined in the ending (like pressing WASD each will have a different dance pose)
Some feedback:
The audio is really loud. Especially since there isn't any audio settings, I think you need to set the BGM to a lower amount because I was not expecting it to start blasting.
As others have mentioned, I was waiting on the start screen for a while, thought it was loading or even broken haha. Definitely needed some guidance there.
Attacking I think should've been a projectile. Spawning only in front of you felt tough when you had to jump to the next platform and there was an enemy just guarding the ledge
Not really sure how the "Through the teeth" wildcard was added
Otherwise, very well done and you had really great ideas!
Really like the creative / old-school approach to creating the sprites. Felt like a nostalgic arcade game. By the same token the old-school controls were pretty tough for me but I appreciate you doing something unique!
As an obnoxious Castlevania fan (old school included), I liked the retro no control jumping. All things considered, the style was special and unique. The throwback to Mortal Kombat sprites was great and I loved the ending. I think a little more combat variety could have been nice (unless I missed something), but it worked.
Great job :)
Cool vibes, I half expected to dance-off with the undead. What technique did you use to create and animate the player and the undead?
Aside from the issues pointed out by the others, I found controls a little rough, when I was standing on a one-block space with an obstacle to my right (see "x" on the below illustration), it was really hard to go to the right while jumping.

Hi! I actually just filmed myself and then cut out frames of the video to make the sprites.
As for the jumping thing that's probably because you can't redirect your movement while in the air. You gotta back up a bit!
Interesting idea! As others said, at first I thought the game wasn't loading, didn't realize I had to press space. It seemed like my attack should have been shot since it looked like an orb, and the range was a bit short (especially with the charge up and moving enemies).
I liked the sound effects!
Ah, yeah maybe I should have made a different sort of sprite for the attack. Thanks for playing, and also your game was really interesting!
It took me a few minutes to realize you have to hit space at the start to progress the dialogue (this is probably on me tbh)
Honestly I feel like an art style of sprites made from pictures like that could be really fun. Game mechanics worked well and I didn’t encounter any bugs. I would have loved to see a little but more control of the player when mid air, and a bit more variety in the gameplay, but still had fun and was able to get through it. Nice work!
music was a banger too
