By looking at the different pictures and their corresponding ages, one can clearly notice the ways Anthropologist can identify if a skeleton belongs to an adult or to a sub-adult. A baby's skull has fontanelles which are the fissures in the skull that have not closed yet. The six year old still needs to develop more prominent maxillary and jaw bones. The elder has clearly lost all teeth. 4-month-old Human Child Skull Zbrush Anatomy, Anatomical Art, Skull Anatomy, Bone Collector, Skull Reference, Illustration Reference, Animal Skeletons, Tattoo Reference, Oldest Human

This child skull was cast from an original specimen in a Forensic Osteology teaching collection at a North American medical school. The expertly crafted skull shows features typical of infants. Although no teeth have erupted in either upper or lower jaws, midline elevations in the midline mandibular dental arcade represent the earliest evidence of primary (deciduous) incisor eruption.
