Listening is a complex process in which learners must do analysis to accurately interpret. In listening learners need to interpret with a speaker to construct meaning. This study tries to find out whether listening strategies are effective to influence listening comprehension and the major goal of the study is to reveal whether pre-listening, while- listening and post-listening activities are the most important to decipher the main idea of a listening text. It has been found that while-listening questions play the major role in comprehension of listening materials.

However, if learners fail to understand in the target language, they cannot learn effectively; therefore, the use of first language (L1) in language classes should not be prohibited. Learning occurs in the target language (TL) in the language classroom based on the fact that learners understand activities. Thus, L1 has a facilitating factor in the language learning process. This study aims to put forth the benefits of using L1 in second language (L2) learning.

Doing large amounts of extensive reading at suitable levels of understanding is a productive tool... more Doing large amounts of extensive reading at suitable levels of understanding is a productive tool to increase reading rate, vocabulary, motivation, attitude and general language proficiency. The amount of vocabulary and grammar learners has determines their language proficiency. Extensive reading enables learners to attain competencies in language skills. Graded readers are essential materials for doing extensive reading. They are particularly designed to enable learners practice reading skills and provide an opportunity to reinforce known vocabulary. Through multiple exposures learners become familiar with grammatical structures and vocabulary. Moreover, learners experience how they function in texts and they are motivated to use the vocabulary and structures they have learnt in their communication. Graded readers motivate learners, help them gain reading fluency, enhance their vocabulary and grammar knowledge development. This article defines extensive reading, emphasizes its contributions to language proficiency development and finally stresses out the role of grader readers in language learning.

Grammar allows language learners to shape the order and organization of knowledge they acquire in the learning process. Learners become aware of functions of language through grammar knowledge, thus to progress effectively in the target language, grammar is essential. When learners understand the language concepts such as adjectives, adverbs, nouns, verbs, etc. they stand a better chance of using the language with great capability. Grammar teaching is drawing the attention of learners through using instructional techniques to some specific grammatical structures to help them understand and process it. The better learners understand the use of grammatical structures, the more competence they have for using the language skills. This article compares five instructional methods in language teaching in terms of grammar teaching.

The legends which are one of the examples of the oral narrative traditions of Turkmen literature,... more The legends which are one of the examples of the oral narrative traditions of Turkmen literature, are the narrative stories that include the people related to the public beliefs, places and the events and that are believed to be the true by the audience. In the Turkmen literature, there are legends in different types not only talking about the persons, places (castles) and etc. but also telling of the stories of the historical personalities. The legends about the famous Turkmen poet Maghtumguly are one of those types. There are different studies conducted on the legends that are public narratives. One of these is typology studies, as well. In the literary texts, there are two main contrary types. Non-existence of one of those will make the existence of the other meaningless. One is the hero that is positive type (protagonist) and the other is negative enemy type (antagonist). In the literary works, there certainly exist one negative enemy type against the positive hero. These types can be classified as the hostile leading types, women types, deceitful types, close relatives and friend types. Analyzing the types in the literary works, it is provided to reveal out the cultural richness. In this context, it is analyzed the enemy types by examining the available legend texts about the famous Turkmen poet Maghtumguly.

Teachers while working abroad experience new teaching styles, curriculum, lesson plans, and lesson materials. Upon return home they implement them into their circumstances. This study investigates the role of overseas experience in professional development of teachers. 55 teachers who had at least a five-year international experience had a questionnaire and it was found that overseas experience deeply influences professional development of teachers.

Drawing objects on the board is very exciting for learners in that it allows students to easily acquaint themselves with new vocabulary and quick memorization. It would be most appropriate if the words were to be nouns, as it would allow demonstrating or drawing on the board. It is not required for a teacher to be knowledgeable in art, yet a simple drawing can have a strong effect in enabling students to store vocabulary in their minds upon sight of the picturization (visualization) of words. By asking students to comment and discuss the drawings creates an avenue of reciprocal discussion and this further pivots discourse amongst the students increasing overall classroom collaboration

This study investigated the role of listening comprehension in development of communicative competence and found that learners developed high communicative competence by language input provided by listening to language materials.

This case is also valid for educators. On one side, everything is changing very fast; on the other side, they are supposed to adopt themselves these rapid changes. Such an adaptation requires some certain commitment, motivation and planning concerning themselves and their students. In this sense, being just a good teacher will not be enogh. Teachers should be open-minded people, especially concerning innovations and internal or external (self) evaluations. For the instituions; they are supposed to set necessary settings with short and long-term goals in terms of career development of their educators. In this way, the process of education turns into a win-win situation for teachers, learners and schools.

So to speak, there is inheritance amongst the literary texts all over the world literature. Thinking of the global changes and technological development, it is quite easy to see the issue of interaction between the nations which is called "intertextuality". This concept appears in a literary work within different interactions. Especially the religions, trade, wars, social and or economic movement, internet and technology have significant roles in this because this interaction is provided through these factors in the society. Now that, the society is mirrored up in the literature, these affects necessarily will be seen in the literature and the scholars deal with finding formic, contently and stylistic resemblances among the cultures and literary areas in a literary work. In this study, two aspects of these interactions in the literature will be handled as theme-based and form-based. The stylistic resemblances will be treated under the form-based part.
