It ensures the accountability and responsibility of the directors, managers and others who hold key positions of responsibility. It is based on a set of rules and principles, processes and mechanisms by which the affairs of the corporations and firms are directed, managed and controlled. Over the past thirty years the concept of corporate governance has received substantial attention from regulatory bodies, scholars and practitioners worldwide as it has been viewed as one of the most important tools for the progress and prosperity of corporations. However, the concept is still in its infancy in Bangladesh and thus is not as well established and commonplace as it might be elsewhere. The main purpose of this study is to understand the nature of corporate governance, its importance, need and its practices in Bangladesh within the Banking and Finance sector. The study is mainly based on secondary sources of data and information that includes scholarly journal articles, books, the Corporate Governance Act of Bangladesh 2004, and other relevant sources pertaining to the subject. A wide range of factors, including codes of corporate governance, legal and regulatory frameworks, development of the capacity of boards of directors, introduction of good governance and institutional capacity building have been recommended to institutionalize and improve corporate governance in Bangladesh. Issues such as whistleblowing and the efficacy of Bangladesh's Legal system are germane to discussions within the ambit of this research.

Bangladesh is one of the poorest countries in the world with low GDP/capita and minimum purchasing power. There are 3 fundamental reasons which are accountable for permanent economic downturn and tremendous poverty in Bangladesh: (1) the poor people don’t have permanent regular jobs to earn enough money to support their families, (2) they don’t have sufficient investment capital to introduce their own businesses or other income generation activities to change their financial status, and (3) they don’t have proper entrepreneurial and managerial knowledge & experience to introduce &operate their own businesses perfectively. These factors confine them into vicious cycle of poverty from generation to generation and impose tremendous pressure on national economic, infrastructural and economic...

Alternatively revascularization without CPB is not always technically feasible. The on-pump beating technique eliminates global myocardial ischemia and thus reduce the mortality and morbidity in high risk patients. This study evaluates the early surgical outcomes of on-pump beating-heart CABG in comparison to conventional CABG. Methods: In this prospective study 60 high risk patients with EURO-SCORE of 6 and above were prospectively allocated into two groups in non-randomized way. Among them 30 patients underwent on-pump beating-heart CABG and 30 patients underwent conventional CABG. The early surgical clinical outcomes were compared between the groups. Results: On-pump beating heart CABG significantly reduced the duration of operation time, cardiopulmonary bypass time, postoperative ventilation time and i...

The management of combined Coronary Artery Disease and Peripheral Vascular Disease is a challenge... more The management of combined Coronary Artery Disease and Peripheral Vascular Disease is a challenge and brings with it numerous clinical dilemmas. The 56 year old gentleman presented to our department with significant triple vessel disease with occluded lower end of aorta just before bifurcation and occluded bilateral superficial femoral arteries. CABG with aorto-femoral and femoro popliteal bypass was done on the same setting. On 12th postoperative day he was discharged from hospital in good general condition. Follow up after 6 months of operation the patient is doing well and free of chest pain and claudication pain. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3329/cardio.v7i2.22266 Cardiovasc. j. 2015; 7(2): 159-161

Globalization of economic affairs, in this modern global market arena, has rapid increased the exchange of knowledge, trade and capital throughout the world by the advantages of technological innovation. What is globalization? "Globalization" is to mean increase in worldwide trade & exchange beyond the domestic and national market to an increasingly open, integrated and boarder less international economy. The phenomenon of globalization began in a primitive before several hundreds of years since the emergence of trans-national trade and has got momentum only after the WW II when general agreement on Tariffs & Trade as well as World Trade Organization (WTO) came under the framework. During the last couple of decades it has become an international dynamic due to technological advancement. Globalization has both positive and negative aspects. Globalization has spurred tremendous economic growth and alleviated poverty throughout the world through accelerating international trade diversifying economic, creating employments, increasing income. Globalization has stimulated innovation, promoted quality and reduced the cost of the products and services. The volume of world trade increased 27 folds from $29 billion in 1950 to $8 trillion in 2005 and GDP per capita increased from 1.2% to 3.5% in the same time frame (WTO 2007). On the contrary, due to globalization, world economy has been inter-dependable which is venturesome for world economy resulting global depression.

The CSW exciter is small, cost effective and can be easily placed on a power cable compared to conventional monopole type launchers or horn type launchers. Besides cable fault detection, the potential applications of the proposed exciter include broadband power line (BPL) communication and high frequency power transmission.
