In discourse of theological thought, the Matturidite and the Asy’arite popularly known as Ahl al-... more In discourse of theological thought, the Matturidite and the Asy’arite popularly known as Ahl al-Sunnah wal al-Jama’ah , are two schools of Islamic theology that tried to take the middle path between the conservative theological thought and the rational theological thought. However, in its method of theology, the Matturidite put a greater proportion in the use of reason compared to what the Asy’arite had done. As a result, in some of its theological thoughts, the later tended to be close to the Mu’tazilite rational theology. This article deals with both history and transmission process of teaching of the thoriqoh Khalwat... more This article deals with both history and transmission process of teaching of the thoriqoh Khalwatiyah in Tolitoli, Central Sulawesi. This study uses socio-culture historical approach. The result obtained from this study shows that growing thoriqoh khalwatiyah in Tolitoli is thoriqoh Kwalwatiyah Samman. This teaching has been existed in Tolitoli since 1954, was formerly introduced by Ambo Eko, an adherent of Thoriqoh Kwalwatiyah from south sulawesi. The first residential area of Thoriqoh Kwaltiyah adherents was Bankir, a village located in the southern part of Tolitoli. Then, this Thoriqoh significantly spreaded across the district of Galang and lampasio until the 1990s thereafter it declined. The transmission process of the teaching done by those adherents is generally in verbal communication although written communication is also performed. Formal institution of education symbolized as "school" has been criticized by several experts sin... more Formal institution of education symbolized as "school" has been criticized by several experts since the last several decades. In one hand, this institution is judged to fail to do its tasks, both in forming the morality of the students and in transforming knowledge and skill needed by society. In other hand, this institution is judged as only a tool to legitimate class domination over inferior class. There are several solutions offered by experts, but the most realistic one is to do reformation in the side of the system of education focusing on the substance rather than on formality. And the very important thing to do is to change the paradigm of the society towards the school itself.
