Among other things, the Internet of Things as a network of objects connected to each other can bring new capacities in all fields. The aim of the present research is to examine the opportunities and challenges that the Internet of Things can have in relation to the higher education system. For this purpose, the systematic approach and the Chelkland SSM method were used. By refer to several internal and external scientific information databases, 25 related articles were identified. The purpose of this study was to investigate and analyze the content of articles published in the... more The purpose of this study was to investigate and analyze the content of articles published in the Journal of Higher Education. In this research, 282 papers published in 40 issues of the journal from 2008 to 2017 were studied. The method of this research is descriptive and it is a kind of content analysis. To collect data from the checklist and to analyze the data, spss software and descriptive tests, and percent and inferential test were used. The findings of this study indicate that the most thematic tendency discussed in the articles of the Journal of higher education is dedicated to the system of evaluation and quality assurance in higher education; also, according to research findings, most of the research methods used are quantitative and the tools mostly employed for data collection were questionnaires. On the other hand, most research types are independent of researchers??. Regarding the authorship, the status and number of single-compilation papers are low and most of the articles are written in groups. Also, authors who are not members of the editorial board of the quarterly had the largest share in writing the articles; besides, the authors’ highest level of education is PhD and the academic rank of most of them is assistant professorship.
