The paper demonstrates the role of the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAP... more The paper demonstrates the role of the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) in increasing official statistics value in Egypt using the two following methods. First, the applied approach to facilitate the use of understood official statistics. It involves enhancing statistics literacy for the public, training the current staff members who produce official statistics and summer training for university graduates. Second, the indicators used to monitor the progress, which provides information on a specific aspect of the value of official statistics. The number of downloads, the number of citations of media, evaluation of training the staff members and university graduates, and user satisfaction are the essential means for evaluation. Media and internet are important means to facilitate statistical literacy in CAPMAS. Training staff members and university graduates enhances their statistical literacy, which raises their performance in the official statistics field. A great effort is still needed to increase the value of official statistics. Collaboration with The International Statistical Literacy Project (ISLP) is important to promote statistical literacy. 2

Applying Statistical Business Process Documentation in Egypt-The Challenges Overcome The Central ... more Applying Statistical Business Process Documentation in Egypt-The Challenges Overcome The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics in Egypt (CAPMAS) went through several phases to find the model that ensures preserving the history of its statistical products and modernize official statistics. The Generic Statistical Business Process Model (GSBPM) is the model, which has chosen and applied since 2013 that includes documentation of all potential statistical operations in a standardized way through eight main phases and more than forty subprocesses for those phases. Despite the continued training, streamlining the documentation measures for the staff members to use the model efficiency and benefits achieved, CAPMAS encounters challenges require additional measures to achieve the high-quality statistical business process. Define the departments to be mapped on the right phases in the model and raising the quality of documentation in each phase is the continued challenges.

A huge amount of important information about statistical products needed to produce modernized statistics was lost. That entailed to rearrange the metadata infrastructure to produce statistics according to fundamental principles of official statistics. Generic Statistical Business Process Model (GSBPM) has applied as an agreed and preferred reference model that has a flexible structure to maintain and document statistical data produced in a standardized way. The paper aims to demonstrate the experience of implementing GSBPM in CAPMAS through displaying the work effort to shift and establish that project with reference to obstacles that encountered implementation and solutions to overcome it, benefits achieved as a result of implementation, future plan, and conclusion.
