The Accord is signed not only by the global clothing brands and national garment unions but also by international trade union organizations, which is a new development. This raises a question: could this agreement set a new international negotiating precedence in industrial relations between transnational corporations and international trade union organizations? In Bangladesh, globalization has played an important role for booming garment industries. Yet, lack of workers’ rights, weak safety situations, and poor working conditions have continuously been reported. Local and international solidarity movements and garment workers’ welfare associations have been emphasizing workers’ rights and better and safer working environments in workplaces since the beginning of the 1990s. However, their voice...

Resource integrators as actors (customers, suppliers, intermediaries) are at the helm of every value co-creation process, nesting it in the social context. Thus, the value emerging from co-creation is social in nature. The purpose of our study is to define how stakeholders are creating social value in co-creation for themselves and other customers. Considering the case study of Rastriya Swasthya Bima Yojna (RSBY), we would be discussing how the engagement of various stakeholders led to the evolution of social value for all the stakeholders involved in value co-creation. The study primarily focuses on social value through co-creation. Thus, other outcomes have been purposely left out which is a major limitation of this study.

Design/methodology/approach – A descriptive research design with survey approach is used to develop and test a conceptual model of adoption for all three self-service banking technologies (SSBTs). Findings – The results of the comparative analysis showed that antecedent beliefs affecting adopters’ attitude vary across different SSBTs. It extends and tests the technology acceptance model (TAM) by including two additional antecedents from the theories of adoption behavior. Research limitations/implications – All three SSBTs included in the paper are from the banking industry, which limits the generalizability of the findings to other industries. Many other limitations were also reported. Practical implications – The findings reveal why and how customers decide to adopt different SSB...

As the Indian customer becomes more and more brand savvy – largely owing to the globalization and advertising boom, quality consciousness is doomed to increase and if quality issues in the Indian industry are not addressed in time, competition might lead to its elimination.Design/methodology/approachThis paper explains TQM philosophy on the basis of principles of top management commitment, customer centric advancements of processes, benchmarking for problem solving, relentless improvement and strengthening the employee base. Data were collected through a questionnaire‐based survey of managers. Results were interpreted by multivariate analysis of qualitative responses.FindingsThe paper argues that TQM and IS can be quite fruitful in improving the quality of products and...

Its early management can prevent complication after injury and can improve neurological function. The treatment plan of unstable fracture is controversial. Methods: The study was carried out at the department of neurosurgery, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University from June 2010 to July 2011 among the patients admitted with thoraco-lumbar spine fracture. Results: A total number of 15 patients with thoracolumbar spine fracture were included in the study. Among the 15 patients, 13(86.66%) were male. The highest number of patients were in age group of 1-20(40%) and 21-40(40%) years. The commonest cause of Thoraco-lumbar spine injuries were fall from height which was 8(53.33%) in number. The commonest site of injury was L1 fracture in 4(60%) patients. It was documented that bladder dysfunction and lower limb weakness were the commonest sign. It was evident that, 10(66.70%) and...

Process has been largely studied from the viewpoint of value creating framework between firm and customer. Value co-creation is divided into three phases i.e., pre, during and post value co-creation phase to make an elaborated inquiry of process aspect. Interaction implicit in co-creation is deemed to be the source of value for customers. The result provides fresh perspective on process dimension along with its significance as a value proposition for both firm and customer.

Therefore, for sustainable competitive advantage, a firm should be able to create and retain customers. One of the necessary conditions for this is that a firm's offerings must be able to meet customers' needs and wants. For product planning and development, a firm needs to know what customers want from a product. The objective of this paper is to analyze the notion of customer satisfaction and to discuss the viability of quality as a source of sustainable competitive advantage. Further, how a well‐known quality technique can be adopted for use in service environment and for development of customer focused service is also demonstrated.

In this context, first mover advantages in an emerging economy constitute an important topic of research in management because the order of entry of a firm to a new market influences its ability to create and capture value. Performances of the firms in an emerging economy like India suggest that a first moving firm enjoys several differential advantages. However there are certain market imperatives that the firm must address to derive sustainable competitive advantage.
