Due to its relevance and contemporaneity, digital transformation emerges as a topic of great interest, where the academy indicates a lack of comprehensive portrait regarding its requirements and strategic guidelines. In this context, researchers have alerted about the need of building an approach on how to digitally transform business models, and define which facilitators, phases, and instruments can be considered. Based on this, the study aims to elucidate basic dimensions for the application of digital transformation considering a set of technologies adhering to the concept of the Industry 4.0. The methodological approach chosen for undertaking the study was procedural research, subject to its progress method as descriptive and impact research. In addition, the study was elaborated from an exploratory and descriptive research, bibliographical and documental in nature, achieved through literature review. Throughout the research, three drivers and nine dimensions were identified that can serve as the basis for the digital transformation process in an organization. With this framework, it was possible to build a preliminary model that serves as a groundwork for mapping the digital transformation implementation process in future studies and may support organizations to improve their processes and actions towards this innovation era.

The theoretical framework is based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). Although similar studies on this subject have already been conducted, in various contexts and in other countries, this is a pioneer study on this specific topic in the Brazilian context, using the aforementioned model. By means of a descriptive and quantitative approach, data were collected using a questionnaire, in a nonrepresentative sample of 113 potential users. Data analysis was performed using multivariate linear regression. The results indicated that the perception of utility, the perception of satisfaction, the perception of security and privacy, as well as income, positively affect the intention to use the digital bank and are the most significant factors for the studied sample. In addition to the academic contribution to studies focused on the acceptance of banking technologies, the conclusions contribute to enabling digital banks to build strategies that add value to the perception of these factors by potential consumers of banking products.

Questionnaires were sent electronically to the managers of startups in the nine states of Northeast Brazil. A total of 54 managers participated, composing a non-probabilistic sample. The data collected were analyzed by multiple linear regressions.FindingsThe results obtained seek to evidence whether the interaction of startups in Northeast Brazil with the startup ecosystem and the development stage in which these companies are found are associated with OLC. The results confirmed the hypothesis that higher startup development stages are positively associated with higher levels of OLC in the sample. A negative association was identified between the manufacturing startu...

There are few studies that seek to quantitatively verify the effect of implementing an LM system on the operational performance of a company, and that is the main objective of this research. In this casebased study, the LM implementation in the company studied is compared with best practices and reference models, ascertaining the degree of adherence of the company's program. The operational performance, in terms of three key dimensions of cost, quality and lead time, is compared before and after the implementation of the LM program. By comparing the means of quantitative indicators related to the three performance dimensions, evidence was found of significant gains in the operational performance, and it was demonstrated that the company followed many of the best practices of LM implementation found in the literature. This study contributes to managers and to the literature on LM by measuring its apparent impacts on operational performance.

Key performance indicator data were collected from three production lines during periods before and after lean manufacturing implementation. Unstructured interviews were conducted, and the Motivation and Work Meaning Inventory (MWMI) instrument was applied. The motivational factors were then correlated with the performance indicators. The results provide evidence to support the hypothesis, based on the literature, that the motivational factor in work teams in a lean implementation process will affect the degree of success of the process. It was also confirmed that after implementation of the program, there was a significant improvement in the lines’ operational performance.

Using a five workstations line simulation, with different degrees of imbalance and different configurations, we could conclude that there is a relationship between extra capacity added to non-constraints and average WIP level and line throughput. Simulation revealed that, using bowl shape configuration, the higher the imbalance, the higher the throughput, with less WIP. These results allow proposing new studies to create a framework for evaluating the feasibility of investments in extra capacity vis-a-vis those gains in resources efficiency.

This is a qualitative and quantitative empirical study with an explanatory approach. Eighteen project teams, comprising 122 professionals and 71 completed projects, were studied, aiming to correlate the maturity of teams with the accuracy of the performance of delivered projects. Evidence of a positive association between team maturity and the accuracy in achieving deadline and conformity goals was found. The importance of project team maturity as it relates to achieving pre-established performance targets was revealed. In addition to developing an original metric to measure maturity, this study uses the degree of achievement of goals - not simply linear gains in cost, conformity and time - as a project performance metric. Future studies should focus assertively on the goal achievement metric used here rather than on the diffuse search for vague performance maximization.

The objective of this research, based on an exploratory case study, is to propose project management practices applicable to SMEs in the fashion industry, in order to assist in the management of new product development projects. A mapping of best practices was carried out. The project management literature was used to find solutions to the problems that were identified in a clothing company. These interventions are expected to bring gains in terms of cost, quality, development time and flexibility to the company, and serve to advance the use of best practices on project management in product development projects in the fashion industry.

Design/methodology/approach-This was a quantitative study. Questionnaires were sent electronically to the managers of startups in the nine states of Northeast Brazil. A total of 54 managers participated, composing a non-probabilistic sample. The data collected were analyzed by multiple linear regressions. Findings-The results obtained seek to evidence whether the interaction of startups in Northeast Brazil with the startup ecosystem and the development stage in which these companies are found are associated with OLC. The results confirmed the hypothesis that higher startup development stages are positively associated with higher levels of OLC in the sample. A negative association was identified between the manufacturing startup type and the OLC level, and the level of interaction with the innovation environment was still infrequent. Research limitations/implications-This study contributes to the literature on the determinants of organizational learning and to startup managers who wish to more effectively promote this learning. Implications of the findings are discussed. Practical implications-This study contributes to the literature on the determinants of organizational learning and to startup managers who wish to more effectively promote this learning. Implications of the findings are discussed. Originality/value-Studies on Brazilian startups are still relatively scarce, especially studies that focus on learning capacity. No other studies addressing the hypotheses tested here were found.
