This is a participatory process focused on changing community norms, patterns of social interaction, values, customs and institutions in ways that will significantly improve the quality of life in a community for all of its members 5. This is a natural by-product of efforts that attempt to address issues such as family dynamics, relationships, poverty, racism and/or ending sexual violence. Building a healthy, safe community is everyone's job 6 .

Cet article a pour objectif de décrire comment l’organisation Femmes et Villes International (FEV... more Cet article a pour objectif de décrire comment l’organisation Femmes et Villes International (FEVI) s’est structurée, s’est façonnée et s’est développée en fonction de deux pôles: le local et le mondial. L’argument central de l’article consiste à démontrer la créativité de ces interrelations mais également les tensions qui existent entre les opportunités internationales et locales ainsi que les conséquences de ces opportunités pour l’organisation. Un deuxième objectif poursuivi est de décrire comment des facteurs pragmatiques et théoriques s’entrecroisent, se renforcent et parfois se contredisent dans la réponse de FEVI aux occasions qui s’offrent à elle. À titre d’exemple, le financement par projet impose une sorte de rigidité dans le fonctionnement multi-niveau. Or, celui-ci, avec une forme de financement différente, pourrait acquérir une fluidité finalement plus enrichissante pour la création des villes inclusives et sécuritaires pour les femmes et les filles dans toute leur dive...
