This paper presents an electro-thermal behavioral model (ETM) Silicon Carbide (SiC) Power MOSFET ... more This paper presents an electro-thermal behavioral model (ETM) Silicon Carbide (SiC) Power MOSFET developed by SPICE. This model is based on the MOS level 1of SPICE model wherein the phenomena characteristic of the static and dynamic behavior which are dependent on self-heating and junction temperature are included and represented by ABM facilities (Analog Behavioral Models) of Spice. The dynamic behavior of switching device associated with charge / discharge phenomena of the capacitances between its terminals is represented by 4 capacitances and two voltage controlled voltage sources (VCVS). The Cgs, Cgd and Cds capacitances vary according to the voltage to their terminals. And so, a good modeling of these capacitances yields up satisfactory results for the simulation of the switching. Connecting cables with the electricity network, and with the load are the main transmitters of very stringent electromagnetic interference (EMI) generated by the semiconductors used (converter) operating at higher frequencies, we are particularly interested in common mode conducted interferences (CM) that are the most penalizing mode in this kind of system.
The inclusion of the latest generation of semiconductor switches in today’s wind farms allows hig... more The inclusion of the latest generation of semiconductor switches in today’s wind farms allows high-frequency pulse width modulation. When the cable that connects the power inverter to the rotor of a doubly fed induction generator is long, the impedance mismatch between it and the rotor leads to overvoltage spikes at the terminals of this last. Such high voltage would cause the deterioration of the rotor winding or the cable insolation. For this reason, it is mandatory to solve this problem. Active and passive filters are considered as classical solutions for this issue. In this context, this article proposes an “RL” filter dedicated to suppress this overvoltage spikes. The design methodology and system modeling are presented in detail. To show the effectiveness of our proposal, a simulation is performed under ANSYS Simplorer. An accurate time-domain model of the cable is used to check the robustness of the filter. The obtained results validate the proposed filtering solution.

The Kennelly theorem which is widely used in three phase systems allows for the delta-star and st... more The Kennelly theorem which is widely used in three phase systems allows for the delta-star and star-delta conversion and simplification of several electronic circuits. In the present work, we propose a generalization based on the theorem of superposition and some results of linear algebra. Our demonstration is inspired from the proof of the classical Kennelly's theorem. The proposed formulas are very clear and simple. This will make it possible to convert polygon-start and star-polygon if the number of impedances is odd, greater than or equals three. The advantage of our proposal is that it could be understood and programmed easily by undergraduate student when compared to other methods based on the graph theory, which focuses mainly on the mesh-star conversion, which is not possible in all configurations in both ways. This result can be applied to reduce the number of nodes in circuit type models of electrical components and electronic circuits. Thus, the simulation time is reduced.

This paper sets out a behavioral macro-model of a Merged PiN and Schottky (MPS) diode based on si... more This paper sets out a behavioral macro-model of a Merged PiN and Schottky (MPS) diode based on silicon carbide (SiC). This model holds good for both static and dynamic electro-thermal simulations for industrial applications. Its parameters have been worked out from datasheets curves by drawing on the optimization method: Simulated Annealing (SA) for the SiC MPS diodes made available in the industry. The model also adopts the Analog Behavioral Model (ABM) of PSPICE in which it has been implemented. The thermal behavior of the devices was also taken into consideration by making use of Foster' canonical network as figured out from electro-thermal measurement provided by the manufacturer of the device.
