This study sought to develop a new scale of coping strategies with boredom in class (CBCS) and te... more This study sought to develop a new scale of coping strategies with boredom in class (CBCS) and test its reliability and validity across subsamples of undergraduate and graduate students. The entire sample consisted of 1561 students, with more female (N = 967) than male participants (N = 594). When developing the scale, 367 undergraduate students were asked what they did when they were bored in class and whether they made any effort to focus on the lecture. The exploratory (N = 636) and confirmatory factor analyses (N =355) suggested that the CBCS demonstrated a good internal consistency, dimensionality and latent factor structure. The four factors that emerged from the exploratory factor analysis were named Cognitive Approach, Behavioral Avoidance Based on Simple Stimuli, Cognitive Avoidance and Behavioral Avoidance Based on Activating Stimuli. The purpose of this research is to examine the effects of attachment styles and peer pressure on ... more The purpose of this research is to examine the effects of attachment styles and peer pressure on risk taking behaviors in adolescents. The research was carried out within the scope of the screening model, which is one of the descriptive research methods. The universe of the research is students from the High Schools in Istanbul. The sample of the study was consisted of 340 students which were selected by simple random sampling method. 191 of these students were female (56.2%) and 149 were male (43.8%). Relation Scale, Peer Print Scale and Risk Taking Behavior scale were used in the research. The Pearson Moments Multiplication Correlation coefficient was used to see the relationship between attachment styles, peer pressure, and risk taking behaviors in the study. Then, hierarchical regression analysis was used for the related variables. Results showed that, in the first step; peer pressure explains 16% of the risk taking behavior alone, while in the second step; secure attachment style from the attachment styles explains 3% of the risk taking behavior and in the third step; the obsessive attachment style from the attachment styles explains 2% of the risk taking behavior. In the direction of these findings it is seen that, risk taking behavior is more explained by peer pressure variable than by other variables.

The research was conducted to prepare a mindfulness-based psychoeducation program for adolescents... more The research was conducted to prepare a mindfulness-based psychoeducation program for adolescents and to test the effect of the program on character strengths, mindfulness levels, and academic achievement of high school students. The study was designed as mixed-method research, and consisted of two stages. In the first stage, the relationship between mindfulness, character strengths, and academic achievement was investigated. According to the findings, 24.5% of the variance in grade point average was predicted by mindfulness and three character strengths including persistence, prudence, and openness to learning. In the second stage, a mindfulness-based psychoeducation program was developed and its effects on high school students' perseverance, prudence, love of learning character strengths, mindfulness, and academic achievements were examined in a pretestposttest randomized control group design. According to results, the 8-week mindfulness-based psychoeducation program increased the level of mindfulness of participants, while partially increasing their three character strengths, and academic achievement.

The purpose of this study is to examine the mediating effect of social connectedness on the relat... more The purpose of this study is to examine the mediating effect of social connectedness on the relationship between university students' parents acceptance-rejection and loneliness. The research was carried out with the descriptive research method. The universe of the research consists of 6818 students who attend Atatürk Faculty of Education in the 2019-2020 academic year. The sample of the study was determined using the stratified sampling method. The sample of the study consists of 387 university students, 271 of whom are women (70%) and 116 of them are men (30%). The scales used are Adult Parental Acceptance-Rejection Scale-Short Form, Ucla Loneliness Scale and Social Connectedness Scale. In line with the main purpose of the study, the model proposed to explain loneliness theoretically was tested and tested by the Structural Equation Model analysis. Relationship between variables in data analysis were determined by Pearson Correlation Analysis. The findings show that the model has acceptable significance and the model is statistically confirmed. According to the verified model; it is seen that the perception of parents' acceptance/rejection in childhood has an effect on loneliness. When the mediator effect of social connectedness is examined, in the model; it appears that the mediating role of social connectedness is confirmed.

Relational screening model was used in this study. The research universe consisted of 4 th grade students of Marmara University Ataturk Faculty of Education. The study was conducted in the 2011-2012 academic year. The research sample comprised of 9 departments and a total of 328 students from those departments. Research data were collected by means of Schwartz's List of Values, Attitude Scale Concerning Teaching Profession, and Personal Information Form. The coefficients of correlations between the sub-dimensions of the list of values and the attitudes towards teaching profession varied between-0.190 and 0.324. The results of regression analysis demonstrated that the sub-dimensions of security, tradition, and power appearing in the values inventory explained the attitudes towards teaching profession by 0.19.

The method of the research is a predictive relationship (correlational) research model. The study group consists of 198 students from 8 different departments of Marmara University Ataturk Faculty of Education. 105 of these students are female and 93 are male. While collecting the datas; the Level of Religious Belief Scale , the Cognitive Flexibility Scale and the Subjective Well-Being Scale were used. The analysis of the datas were found by the multiple regression analysis in order to examine the effects of the effective variables on the subjective well-being.The level of religious beliefs and cognitive flexibility found to be significant effectives of subjective well-being. The effectiveness of these two variables on subjective well-being were found as 60% . Subjective well-being does not differ by gender, but there are significant differences by the perceived economic level

The general purpose of this research is to develop a scale in order to determine the bullying ten... more The general purpose of this research is to develop a scale in order to determine the bullying tendency of secondary school students and to realize validity and reliability study through this purpose. In this research, Bullying Behavior Tendency Scale (BBTS) is used. One hundred and fifty two students attending at 6 th , 7 th and 8 th grades form the study group in scope of validity and reliability analysis. The scale’s internal consistency coefficient, item total correlation coefficient, test repeat test reliability, material reliability, scope, known group comparison and structure and criterion validities have been calculated. In reliability study, test repeat test results are found as .903. The highest reliability of internal consistency coefficient which was calculated for the general total reliability of Bullying Behavior Tendency Scale is found out to be Cronbach Alpha (.9545). Since Kaiser Meyer-Olkin value (.835) is bigger than .50, it is understood that example size is appropriate to make factor analyses. The measured feature is accepted to be coming from a multidimensional variable in universe parameter because Barlett test result is found meaningful, too. In the result of factor analyses made with Varimax rotated method, it is found that eigenvalue of first sub-dimension is 7.707, eigenvalue of second sub-dimension is 7.197, eigenvalue of third sub-dimension is 5.912 and eigenvalue of last sub-dimension is 5.404. The study group consists of 105 students in 11 th and 12 th grade at 2 secondary schools located in the Istanbul Tuzla District. 45 of these students are girls (49.19%) and 60 are boys (50.81%). Peer pressure (Kıran 2002) and Internet addiction measurements (Young, 1996) were used in this study. A simple linear regression analysis was used to find out how much the peer pressure variable predicts Internet addiction points. The study group consists of 198 students from 8 different departments of Marmara University Ataturk Faculty of Education. 105 of these students are female and 93 are male. While collecting the datas; the Level of Religious Belief Scale , the Cognitive Flexibility Scale and the Subjective Well-Being Scale were used. The analysis of the datas were found by the multiple regression analysis in order to examine the effects of the effective variables on the subjective well-being.The level of religious beliefs and cognitive flexibility found to be significant effectives of subjective well-being. The effectiveness of these two variables on subjective well-being were found as 60% . Subjective well-being does not differ by gender, but there are significant differences by the perceived economic level

The general purpose of this research is to develop a scale in order to determine the bullying ten... more The general purpose of this research is to develop a scale in order to determine the bullying tendency of secondary school students and to realize validity and reliability study through this purpose. In this research, Bullying Behavior Tendency Scale (BBTS) is used. One hundred and fifty two students attending at 6 th , 7 th and 8 th grades form the study group in scope of validity and reliability analysis. The scale’s internal consistency coefficient, item total correlation coefficient, test repeat test reliability, material reliability, scope, known group comparison and structure and criterion validities have been calculated. In reliability study, test repeat test results are found as .903. The highest reliability of internal consistency coefficient which was calculated for the general total reliability of Bullying Behavior Tendency Scale is found out to be Cronbach Alpha (.9545). Since Kaiser Meyer-Olkin value (.835) is bigger than .50, it is understood that example size is appropriate to make factor analyses. The measured feature is accepted to be coming from a multidimensional variable in universe parameter because Barlett test result is found meaningful, too. In the result of factor analyses made with Varimax rotated method, it is found that eigenvalue of first sub-dimension is 7.707, eigenvalue of second sub-dimension is 7.197, eigenvalue of third sub-dimension is 5.912 and eigenvalue of last sub-dimension is 5.404. The study group consists of 105 students in 11 th and 12 th grade at 2 secondary schools located in the Istanbul Tuzla District. 45 of these students are girls (49.19%) and 60 are boys (50.81%). Peer pressure (Kıran 2002) and Internet addiction measurements (Young, 1996) were used in this study. A simple linear regression analysis was used to find out how much the peer pressure variable predicts Internet addiction points. Kruskal Wallis H Test And MannWhitney U Test was used to analyze the internet addiction, the relationship between sex and the duration of the internet.According to the findings of the study, peer pressure accounts for 32.5% of Internet addiction. This study sought to develop a new scale of coping strategies with boredom in class (CBCS) and te... more This study sought to develop a new scale of coping strategies with boredom in class (CBCS) and test its reliability and validity across subsamples of undergraduate and graduate students. The entire sample consisted of 1561 students, with more female (N = 967) than male participants (N = 594). When developing the scale, 367 undergraduate students were asked what they did when they were bored in class and whether they made any effort to focus on the lecture. The exploratory (N = 636) and confirmatory factor analyses (N =355) suggested that the CBCS demonstrated a good internal consistency, dimensionality and latent factor structure. The four factors that emerged from the exploratory factor analysis were named Cognitive Approach, Behavioral Avoidance Based on Simple Stimuli, Cognitive Avoidance and Behavioral Avoidance Based on Activating Stimuli. The CBCS also demonstrated significant convergent validity with related scales used in the literature. The CBCS is shown to be a promising measure of coping strategies with boredom in class.
