Since AI is successfully helping to optimize human processes or tasks in several sectors. In this study, we present a scientometric analysis to answer the question, what is the academic overview of the application of artificial intelligence in agriculture? We use references indexed in the Scopus, a scientometric methodology and software tools to perform the research. We identify that the countries with the highest number of publications are China, the United States, India, and Australia through document analysis. The United States is a country with more authors and institutions collaboration. The institution with the highest published number of papers was China Agricultural University, and also that Gerrit Hoogenboom, from the University of Florida, has leadership in publications. Finally, we identified that precision agriculture, smart farming, and smart sustainable agriculture refers to apply artificial intelligence and information technologies in agriculture. Also, we identify that the Internet of Things (IoT) is an emergent topic and that decision support systems and machine learning are the transversal topics.

This algorithm has been proven to detect potential right turns of vehicles by estimating the probability of a driver to turn right, and we propose to use it for reducing the number of cycling deaths at an intersection. We extend this algorithm following the IoT design principles and thus, with this approach, cyclists' safety no longer depends only on actions taken inside the vehicles, but also can use additional safety solutions based on standards and available information shared about the vehicles and drivers in vehicular networks. Our approach proposes to process the inference algorithm outside the vehicle, considering cloud and edge computing. We use predicting models for identifying driver's intention of turning right at intersections and the use of edge connected devices running our algorithm for alerting cyclists of possible collisions, thus preventing as many collisions as possible in intersections.

Since the problem is NP hard, we focus on suboptimal scheduling solutions. We concentrate on a complex multistage, multiproduct, multimachine, and batch production environment considering completion time and energy consumption optimization criteria. The production of wheat-based and corn-based tortillas of different styles is considered. The proposed bi-objective algorithm is based on the known Nondominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm II (NSGA-II). To tune it up, we apply statistical analysis of multifactorial variance. A branch and bound algorithm is used to assert obtained performance. We show that the proposed algorithms can be efficiently used in a real production environment. The mono-objective and bi-objective analyses provide a good compromise between saving energy and efficiency. To demonstrate the practical relevance of the results, we examine our solution on real data. We find that it can save 48% of production time and 47% of electricity consumption over the actual production.

Thus, the aim is to identify new solutions with the purpose of improving sustainability and livability. Mobile and participatory sensing systems play a big role. Using smartphones as a tool for social impact, it is possible to take advantage of their sensing and communication capabilities to monitor the environment. Even though this kind of system seems to be "centralized", the data acquisition by mobile devices, the analysis in data centers and the user centered results produce a system that is, in essence, a distributed system. In this article we present our participatory sensing system: BeCity. BeCity takes advantage of the collective knowledge of transportation cyclists to improve the quality of city cycling. It provides refined (and up-to-date) city usage information for cycling associations and government entities. Moreover, the distilled information is returned to the users, by recommending bike-friendly route planning. Our contribution is twofold. First, the distributed system by itself. Second, the algorithm to suggest bike routes which considers both the shortest and the most popular route. In many cases, the recommendation algorithm performs better suggestions than the one used by Google Maps.

One of the highest densities commercially available SNPchips for cattle is the Affymetrix axiom genome-wide Bos 1, which assays 648,315 informative SNPs across the whole bovine genome. Here, we describe the microarray data, quality controls and validation implemented in a study published in Genetics and Molecular Research Journal in 2015 [1]. The microarray raw data has been deposited into Gene Expression Omnibus under accession #GSE54813.

Compared to SNP, a CNV can cover a wider chromosome region, which may potentially incur substantial sequence changes and induce more significant effects on phenotypes. CNV has been becoming an alternative promising genetic marker in the field of genetic analyses. Here we firstly report an account of CNV regions in the cattle genome in Chinese Holstein population. The Illumina Bovine SNP50K Beadchips were used for screening 2047 Holstein individuals. Three different programes (PennCNV, cnvPartition and GADA) were implemented to detect potential CNVs. After a strict CNV calling pipeline, a total of 99 CNV regions were identified in cattle genome. These CNV regions cover 23.24 Mb in total with an average size of 151.69 Kb. 52 out of these CNV regions have frequencies of above 1%. 51 out of these CNV regions completely or partially overlap with 138 cattle genes, which are significantly enriched for specific biological functions, such as signaling pathway, sensory perception response and cellular processes. The results provide valuable information for constructing a more comprehensive CNV map in the cattle genome and offer an important resource for investigation of genome structure and genomic variation underlying traits of interest in cattle.

Due to their genome-wide abundance, it has increased its use for genetic studies in genomes of animals and plants. They have been used in the germplasm of the date palm to identify genetic diversity, sex determination and gene characterization. RAPD, RFLP, AFLP, ISSR and SSR are DNA based molecular markers that have been used to perform genetic diversity analyses. Advantages and disadvantages have been judged based on the level of polymorphism they capture, the quality of template DNA needed, the development cost, the reliability and the level of skill required. Simple sequence repeats (SSR) are DNA based molecular markers that have been used to perform genetic diversity analyses, sex determination and gene characterization in date palm. The SSR markers satisfy most requirements for accurate analysis of genetic diversity. The current study assess the performance of 255 SSR microsatellites that were...

Some accidents, come from the inability of car drivers to detect cyclists in the cycle-way. This study presents a method for cyclists to prevent collisions using a early warning system with a right turn prediction algorithm for vehicles that can raise an alarm to cyclists of potential collisions in case of a right turn of a car. The goal is to give enough time to the cyclist to stop or maneuver to avoid potential collisions.
