To sketch this research, inquiries were held on books, specialized magazines and scientific articles available in reliable databases on the Internet such as: Scielo, Google Scholar and repositories of academic works from universities. The analysis made was based on a multiple case study in search of evidence about the phenomena that occurred in the comparison of three academic management systems in order to determine which presents the best possibilities and resources for educational management in three Higher Education Institutions (HEI) located in the Vale do Paraíba region in the State of São Paulo, among them: a Confessional Faculty, a Public University belonging to the group of São Paulo State Universities and a University Center of Salesian Networks. It is noticed that not only academic management systems, but also virtual learning environments may assist and contribute effectively to resolve the needs of users. However, it is recommended that such systems are very complete, integrated and receive constant updates to bring continuous benefits up to educational management.
