Background Coronary artery disease (CAD) significantly contributes to morbidity and mortality glo... more Background Coronary artery disease (CAD) significantly contributes to morbidity and mortality globally, particularly in individuals with diabetes mellitus, who are at a heightened risk for cardiovascular complications. The complexity of coronary lesions and diffuse atherosclerosis in diabetic patients presents challenges in their treatment and prognosis. Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) are primary revascularization strategies for managing multi-vessel CAD in diabetic patients. Despite advancements in both techniques, their relative efficacy and safety remain debated, especially in the diabetic population. Objective This multicenter study aims to compare the long-term outcomes of CABG and PCI in diabetic patients with multi-vessel CAD. The primary endpoints include overall survival and the incidence of major adverse cardiac events (MACE). Secondary endpoints encompass revascularization success and procedural complication rates.

Comparison of Bowen’s Technique and Myofascial Release Technique on Pain and Neck Disability in Patients with Trapezitis

Various treatments exist, including Hot pack, Cryotherapy, Objective: This study aimed to assess the short-term effects of the Bowen technique and Myofascial release technique on neck pain, neck disability, cervical range of motions, and scapular motion in trapezitis patients. Methods and Methodology: A randomized clinical trial with 42 participants aged 20-40 at Islamabad Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Centre and Benazir Bhutto Hospital. Group A received Bowen technique, and Group B received Myofascial Release Technique for 20 minutes, along with active neck movements and hot pack for three consecutive days. Assessment included Cervical ROMs, NPRS, NDI, Pain in ISPT, Retraction Hold Time, and Variation in LSST at baseline and after 3 days. Results: Significant differences were observed in Cervical extension, Rotation, Side-bending, Numeric Pain Rating Scale, Neck Disability Index, Retraction Hold Time, and Variation in Lateral Scapular Slide Test between the two groups (p-value < 0.05). No significant difference was found in Cervical flexion and Pain with Isometric Scapular Pinch Test (p-value > 0.05).

The objective of the study was to compare the combined effects of Mulligan’s MWM and Spencer’s MET with MWM, Spencer’s MET and conventional therapy individually. A RCT was conducted for 6 months in THQ hospital Gujar Khan. 44 patients with mean age (55.57±7.422) meeting inclusion criteria were included. Study design: It was an observational study. Place and duration: The duration of study was 6 months and was carried out at Farooq Clinic Khushab. Methodology: An observational study was conducted among medical professionals and was based on a cross-sectional study that was carried out with the help of self-structured questionnaire. Results: 63% of the house officers are well-aware of physical therapy and have sufficient knowledge about it. Some medical professionals including cardiologists and orthopedic surgeons said that physical therapy has now become a very important part of the quality health and well-being of patients. Conclusion: Physical therapy plays a very essential role in enhancing and improving the standards of health. All medical professionals of different fields should have knowledge and awareness about physical therapy for helping people to manage and improve their problems with the help of different therapies.

Background: Patello-femoral pain syndrome, known to be a vast term is used in recognizing the pai... more Background: Patello-femoral pain syndrome, known to be a vast term is used in recognizing the pain in the area of patellar and femoral joint region which can be caused by some of multiple pain issues in knee Objective: To determine effects of blood flow resistance therapy in patellofemoral pain syndrome for quadriceps strength and function among athletes. Methodology: This Randomized control trial was conducted at conducted in Pakistan Sports Board. Male athletes of aged 18 and 40 years with a traumatic onset of anterior knee pain for more than 6 weeks, patients who complained of pain with any two activities were included. Patients were randomized and grouped into two groups. Group A; Treatment group underwent blood flow restriction (BFR) exercise along with strengthening exercises of knee, while group B; controlled group underwent only strengthening exercise of knee. Numeric Pain Rating Scale (NPRS) and Kujala Score along with Thigh Girth measurements were used as outcome measures and were measured at baseline and after two months. Results: Before treatment the mean value of group A was 75.0 ± 2.88 and for group B it was 74.96 ± 2.87 and pvalue was > 0.05. Post treatment value of AKPS showed statistically significant differences between two groups as p-value was 0.03. Patients of Group A improved more significantly as compared to patients of Group B. There was no effect of BFR along with strengthening exercises on muscle girth. Post treatment value of muscle girth showed statistically non-significant difference between two groups as p-value < 0.05 i.e., 0.35 at post treatment levels. Moreover at 12 weeks follow up muscle girth score were 23.26 ± 1.28 for group A and 23.00 ± 1.77 for group B. Conclusion: Blood flow restriction exercises along with strengthening exercises have better effects in reducing knee pain and improving functional status of patients significantly as compared to only strengthening exercises while no effects in increasing tight girt were found.

Background: Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) is an open-heart surgery that involves graftin... more Background: Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) is an open-heart surgery that involves grafting a piece of a blood vessel from the aorta to the coronary artery in order to bypass a blocked section of the coronary artery and enhance blood flow to the heart. CABG surgery is still a high-risk treatment, and many patients experience postoperative chest and pulmonary complications. Objective: To determine the effects of combined stretching technique with deep breathing exercise on O2 saturation, blood pressure and heart rate in post CABG patients. Method: There was a randomized controlled trial. 24 individuals were recruited and assigned to Groups A and B based on sample selection criteria. A pulse oximeter and a manual mercury sphygmomanometer were used to measure oxygen saturation, blood pressure, and heart rate. The approach of non-probability convenient sampling was applied. After the sixth week of treatment, both groups were reviewed. Treatment time was 15-25 minutes. SPSS 25 was used to analyses the data. Results: There was a statistically significant change within both groups in the pulse oximetry, blood pressure and heart rate with p-value of < 0.05. Both were effective but performing stretching technique with deep breathing exercise showed more improvement. Conclusion: Stretching with deep breathing exercises was more effective than baseline treatment in improving oxygen saturation, reducing blood pressure, and increasing heart rate in CABG patients.
