The Top-Lit Updraft (TLUD) gasification and combustion process is recognized as the least polluting of all other combustion processes, resulting in a sterile charcoal called biochar, which can be used as an amendment in agricultural soils. The purpose of this research was to determine the influence of excess air in the combustion area compared to the (theoretical) calculated requirement for a TLUD energy module. Most scientific publications on this topic recommend primary/secondary air flow rate ratios of 1/3 or 1/4. In this study, the two recommended ratios were tested, and it was found that better energy results correspond to the ratio of 1/3. For this 1/3 ratio, the investigations continued in order to optimize the combustion process. The results achieved demonstrate that the excess combustion air flow of 30% improves the performance of the energy...

The experimental model uses two renewable energy sources - solar energy and energy generated by burning biomass - to provide thermal energy for an increased duration, regardless of the atmospheric factors. Properly sized, the system can be designed as a series product, in a variety of powers, to be used by heat suppliers, and also by individuals, especially the ones from remote areas, who want to ensure their thermal energy independence by using renewable energy.

This material presents some considerations regarding two types of applications of the hydraulic drive systems dedicated to the wind turbines, respectively: 1) applications meant to replace a gear transmission, from the construction of a wind turbine, with a hydrostatic transmission; 2) applications intended to replace the crane, necessary for the installation and maintenance of a wind turbine, with a hydraulic pole, provided with a removable hydraulic cylinder, powered by a pump assembly with double overcenter valve.

The hydraulic cylinder (8) is designed as a double-acting cylinder with a constant velocity in a guided in a cylinder (7), two cross-sectional same working spaces (11, 12) from one another delimiting piston unit (9). The housing (1) has at least one opening (16) for a mechanical interface to the piston unit (9) of the hydraulic cylinder (8) forming the coupling element (17). The electric motor (21) of the hydraulic unit (22) is designed as a brushless external rotor motor; relative to the axis (X), the hydraulic unit (22) and the hydraulic oil tank (24) next to the hydraulic cylinder (8) are arranged.
