Typical environmental problems associated with the implementation of solar photovoltaic systems f... more Typical environmental problems associated with the implementation of solar photovoltaic systems for the generation of peak electrical energy, on a larger scale, such as on the order of 1 MWp, is in the occupied area, usually more than 3 km 2. This can be minimized by the use of water parks or water dam's reservoir, small and large hydroelectric power plants dams. Both the terrestrial and aquatic systems can impact the site, the first one, for the need to promote earthworks, removal of extensive green areas in the surroundings, installation of new transmission line, among others; and the second, despite the fact that a flat surface is already used and that there is no need for new civil procedures for its installation and can normally take advantage of the existing power transmission line, may cause changes in the biota of the reservoir, depending on the shading areas on the surface of the lake. Due to these facts, this research was proposed to investigate, parameterize and tropicalize an electric power generation system based on floating silicon photovoltaic cell panels installed in the Santa Clara HPP reservoir, in terms of peak power, durability, aspects and environmental impacts, with the study of possible evolutionary improvements of the project such as "tracking" or solar tracking, as well as dynamism of the structure, allowing the shadow area to be shifted over time, minimizing its effects in the local biota.

Fungi of the genus Trichoderma are able to act as agents to control the growth of pathogenic fung... more Fungi of the genus Trichoderma are able to act as agents to control the growth of pathogenic fungi that cause diseases in several cultivated plants. Therefore, this work aimed to select and test Trichodermaisolates capable of inhibiting, in vitro, the mycelial growth of soil pathogens. 50 isolates of Trichoderma spp. were tested against the pathogenic fungi Sclerotiumrolfsii, Rhizoctoniasolani and Fusariumsp. The in vitro culture pairing technique was used, with scores on grades according to the criteria proposed by Bell and percentage of colonization. In the percentage of inhibition of the growth of the pathogen, 23 isolates with more than 60% inhibition were more efficient for S. rolfssi, five with 100% inhibition for R. solani and 32 isolates with more than 70% for Fusariumsp.

Some studies found that its essential oil has properties that could be useful for manufacturing new products. Its quality depends on physicochemical properties, since its degradation, as well as water content and other volatile materials may cause several changes in its features. The differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) was used to determine the water content in the S. guianensis essential oil in order to evaluate its thermal parameters. The method is based on the hypothesis that the desolvation enthalpy (∆Hdesol) needed for removing n water moles from the essential oil is approximately the enthalpy needed for melting the same n water moles (n∆Hf). Thus, the current study considers the dissociation enthalpy (∆Hdiss) to be negligible. A realização de queimas prescritas, com diferentes objetivos de gestão e manejo, vem sendo aplica... more A realização de queimas prescritas, com diferentes objetivos de gestão e manejo, vem sendo aplicada mais frequentemente em áreas protegidas. Com o intuito de compreender o efeito do fogo, o presente trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar a abundância e a diversidade dos microrganismos fúngicos em resposta ao uso do fogo e incêndios florestais. As amostras de solo anterior e após a queimada foram coletadas, sendo os fungos isolados pelo método de plaqueamento, posteriormente quantificados por meio da contagem das unidades formadoras de colônia (UFC g-1) e identificados ao nível de gênero. A média de UFC g-1 não apresentou diferença significativa entre os regimes de fogo avaliados, no entanto houve diferença significativa (p<0,05) para diversidade, tendo os dois anos de incêndios ocasionado menor diversidade de gênero. Fungi and viruses mostly take advantage o f this deficiency, eliminating the plant defense response producing molecules for this purpose; however, the plants employ proteins produced by resistance genes.

Currently one of the main problems faced is the occurrence of diseases, responsible for a worldwide economic loss, equivalent to US $ 9 billion per year. Aiming to increase resistance to diseases, increasing growth rates and food efficiency in intensive crops, some strategies have been developed, one of them is the use of probiotic bacteria. These, when in contact with the digestive tract of the host generates a series of benefits, among them, the modulation of the immune system, developing defense mechanisms and increasing resistance to stress. However, there are few documented reports on the efficiency of probiotics in native species, such as tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum). This species shows some resistance to stress, through physiological mechanisms of adaptation, such as lip expansion when subjected to hypoxia situations, which added to the positive effects of using probiotics would represent an increase in its resistance. The purpose of this work is to review the literature on the use of probiotics in aquaculture in order to provide a comprehensive synthesis of the current knowledge about its use in aquaculture, with emphasis on the intensive cultivation of tambaqui.

O delineamento em blocos casualizados (DBC) é uma técnica utilizada para analisar experimentos com um conjunto de fatores não análogas em uma determinada localidade e seu impacto no experimento. Os tratamentos são ao acaso sobre as unidades experimentais dentro de cada bloco, com isso, esse método é usado para verificar se há interferência entre os tratamentos e entre os blocos. Nesse sentindo o objetivo desse trabalho foi avaliar procedimento e metodologia para a delimitação de áreas queimadas através do processamento de imagens Landsat 8-TM, no período de maior ocorrência de focos de calor em três áreas, sendo estas localizadas nas regiões Leste, Sul e Norte do estado do Tocantins. Para a obtenção das áreas queimadas foram realizados procedimentos de classificação das imagens objetivando a classe de interesse (área queimada). RESUMO: O fogo é um elemento da mudança global que pode influenciar as comunidades fúngicas, com ... more RESUMO: O fogo é um elemento da mudança global que pode influenciar as comunidades fúngicas, com intuito de compreender como o fogo influência essas comunidades, foi realizado uma revisão sistemática com meta-análise de 30 estudos que abordassem o tema respostas fúngicas ao fogo. Dos estudos avaliados 56,67% obtiveram resultados positivos para o uso do fogo em função da comunidade fúngica e 43,33% apresentaram efeitos negativos, 56,66% das análises dos microrganismos fúngicos foram realizadas através da coleta do solo. As respostas dos microrganismos fúngicos ao fogo diferiram significativamente entre os tipos de vegetação, a biomassa fúngica aumentou após incêndios em Florestas boreais, mas não após incêndios em Florestas temperadas e tropicais, a Floresta tropical não apresentou diferenças entre os incêndios florestais e queima prescrita. Foi verificado nesta meta-análise que os incêndios florestais levam a uma maior redução da comunidade fúngica do que as queimadas prescritas. Os mecanismos ou processos responsáveis pela diversidade de espécies de fungos após o uso do fogo tanto para incêndios como queima prescrita permanecem desconhecidos. Desta forma a padronização das metodologias é necessária para que se possa realizar comparações entre os estudos da mesma tipologia de vegetação. Meta-analysis of studies on the effect of fire on forest biomes in relation to fungal microorganisms ABSTRACT: Fire is an element of global change that can influence fungal communities, thus participating in the dynamics of ecosystems. In order to understand how fire influences these communities, a meta-analysis of 30 fungal responses published to fire was carried out. From the studied studies 56,67% obtained positive results for the use of fire as a function of the fungal community and 43,33% presented negative effects, 56,66% of the analysis of the fungal microorganisms was done through the collection of the soil. The responses of fungal microorganisms to fire differed significantly between vegetation types and fungal biomass increased after fires in boreal forests, but not after fires in temperate and tropical forests, the tropical forest did not present differences between forest fires and prescribed burning. It was verified in this meta-analysis that the forest fires lead to a greater reduction of the fungal community than the prescribed fires. The mechanisms or processes responsible for the diversity of fungal species after the use of fire for both fire and prescribed burning remain unknown. In this way the standardization of methodologies is necessary so that comparisons can be made between the studies of the same typology of vegetation.

Thus, it is of utmost importance to the observation of the effects of the variables and the interaction between them in a given system, and the multivariate optimization systems, based on factorial design of experiments, a useful and simple alternative, given the need to assess simultaneously the effect of a large number of variables and their interaction between them from a small number of trials. In this paper, we present concepts related to optimization of multivariate procedures with emphasis on experimental design systems experiments and their application in studies of various areas of knowledge, proving its efficiency in the analysis of multivariate systems. Inclusion criteria for articles were: original articles and research on factorial experimental design in common use in laboratories in different fields of research, including studies and pre-installation already installed and in Portuguese, English and Spanish.

A atividade antimicrobiana de uma cultura comercial probiótica deLactobacillus sakei (ATCC 15... more A atividade antimicrobiana de uma cultura comercial probiótica deLactobacillus sakei (ATCC 1521) foi avaliada em termos de concentração celular (30, 42, 60, 78 e 90 mcg / ml, 105 - 107UFC/mL), temperatura de incubação (4, 10, 20, 30, 37 ° C) e pH inicial do meio de cultura (3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0 e 5.5) contra três patógenos alimentares, Escherichia coli, Listeria monocytogenes e Staphylococcus aureus. O efeito antagônico da cultura probiótica in vitro foi realizada através da aplicação de método quantitativo espectrofotométrico. Os resultados indicaram que uma substância inibitória presente em caldo de cultura de 24 horas poderia ser vantajoso quando mantendo a cultura dominante durante fermentações mais prolongadas. Para a maior produção de ácido láctico (1,04%v/v), o período de incubação da bactéria em caldo MRS foi de 24 horas em condições aeróbicas e a 37 ºC, com um valor de pH mínimo do sobrenadante (3,5). Moreover, phytase decreases the amounts of phytic acid and phosphate excreted in feces. Bioinformatics approaches can contribute to the understanding of the catalytic structure of phytase. Analysis of the catalytic structure can reveal enzymatic stability and the polarization and hydrophobicity of amino acids. One important aspect of this type of analysis is the estimation of the number of -sheets and -helices in the enzymatic structure. Fermentative processes or genetic engineering methods are employed for phytase production in transgenic plants or microorganisms. To this end, phytase genes are inserted in transgenic crops to improve the bioavailability of phosphorus. This promising technology aims to improve agricultural efficiency and productivity. ...

Prospecting of new isolates producers of pectinolitic enzymes were performed with cultivation of ... more Prospecting of new isolates producers of pectinolitic enzymes were performed with cultivation of substrates of rice, soybean and corn bran. Pectinolitic enzymes were observed in cultures of the isolates NFC 1, NFC 2, NFC 4, NFC 5 and NFC 6 identified as belonging to the genus Aspergillus sp. Isolates NFR 1, NFR 2 and NFS1 were identified as belonging to the genus Rhizopus and NFC 3 belonging to the genus Cladosporium; however, pectinolitic enzymes production was not observed. The polygalacturonase (PG) production in submerged fermentation of Aspergillus NFC 2 in culture medium proposed (SM) at 28 and 37°C was quantified by agar diffusion and spectrophotometric methods. The highest PG production was obtained at 28°C by greater formation of halo degradation pectin and the activity measured by spectrophotometric methods. The activity of PG obtained was 7 U.mL-1 with volumetric productivity greater in the first 24 h of fermentation both at 28 and 37°C. A decrease in PG synthesis occurred after 48 to 120 h. The study allowed, by means of rapid microbiological tests, the selection of new isolates fungi for PG production and the definition of crucial stages for cultivation in liquid medium.
