In this paper, historical data of inflows from 1986 to 2014 have been used to forecast upcoming inflows at dam. Bayesian predictive distribution is used to predict future inflows. These forecasted inflows were further incorporated into operating policy model to determine the optimal release during the prescribed months. Weather volatility is a major factor causing unstable inflows. High temperature during summer period cause high inflows at dam. Considering weather volatility, this policy model is proposed for the flood season (15th June to 30th September), in which inflows and outflows are higher than rest of the year. This model maximizes the expected profit from hydro power production, minimizes the expected loss from flood damage and updates the proper estimate of current stage of reservoir storage.

The composite formation and structural changes in these composites were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infra red spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). The direct current (DC) electrical conductivity of the order of 0.51 × 10 −2 S cm −1 -0.283 S cm −1 in the temperature range 300 K-473 K indicates semiconducting behavior of the composites. Room temperature AC conductivity and dielectric response of the composites were studied in the frequency range of 10 Hz to 1 MHz. The variation of AC conductivity with frequency obeyed the power law, which decreased with increasing weight percentage (wt %) of Y 2 O 3 . Studies on dielectric properties shows the relaxation contribution coupled by electrode polarization effect. The dielectric constant and dielectric loss in these composites depend on the content of Y 2 O 3 with a percolation threshold at 20 wt % of Y 2 O 3 in PAni. Electromagnetic interference shielding effectiveness (EMI SE) of the composites in the frequency range 100 Hz to 2 GHz was in the practically useful range of -12.2 dB to -17.2 dB. The observed electrical and shielding properties were attributed to the interaction of Y 2 O 3 particles with the PAni molecular chains.

The extraction was carried out in a supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) system in the temperature range of 25 to75 o C and the pressure up to 30 MPa. Different extraction conditions, such as the temperature, pressure, extraction time and modifier were employed to maximize the SFE efficiency. Significant amount of microbial quinones (ubiquinones and menaquinones) could be extracted rapidly with supercritical CO 2 . Results on the value of diversity and dissimilarity suggested that the SFE with supercritical CO 2 extraction was a reliable technique for quinones extraction.

PAnistannous oxide (PAni-SnO), PAni-yttrium oxide (PAni-Y2O3), and PAni-antimony oxide (PAni-Sb2O3) composites are synthesized by in-situ chemical polymerization. The morphological features of the composites are investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The effects of SnO, Y2O3, and Sb2O3 loading in PAni on the electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding and dielectric properties are studied in the frequency range 8-18 GHz (X and Ku bands). In the X-band, the average EMI shielding effectiveness (SE) of PAni-SnO composites is -23.2 dB to -17.9 dB, PAni-Y2O3 composites is -24.2 dB to -20.2 dB, and PAni-Sb2O3 composites is -20.9 dB to -18.0 dB. In the Ku-band, the average EMI SE of PAni-SnO composites is -22.5 dB to -17.3 dB, PAni-Y2O3 composites is -23.6 dB to -19.1 dB, and PAni-Sb2O3 composites is -20.4 dB to -17.4 dB.The ε' and ε'' in the 8-18 GHz are in the range of 77-50.8 and 86.3-61.2 for PAni-SnO composites, 88.2-72.1 and 103.3-92.4 for PAni-Y2O3 composites, 58.4-41.8 and 54.4-33.60 for PAni-Sb2O3 composites, respectively. The effective shielding behavior and better dielectric responseindicate the distribution and morphology of the dispersants used affect significantly the microwave properties of the composites. Most dietary Se is derived from crops. To develop a Se biofortification strategy for wheat, the effect of selenate fertilization and bacterial inoculation on Se uptake and plant growth was investigated. YAM2, a bacterium with 99% similarity to Bacillus pichinotyi, showed many plant growth promoting characteristics. Inoculation with YAM2 enhanced wheat growth, both in the presence and absence of selenate: YAM2-inoculated plants showed significantly higher dry weight, shoot length and spike length compared to un-inoculated plants. Selenate also stimulated wheat growth; Un-inoculated Se-treated plants showed a significantly higher dry weight and shoot length compared to control plants without Se. Bacterial inoculation significantly enhanced Se concentration in wheat kernels (167%) and stems (252%), as well as iron (Fe) levels in kernels (70%) and stems (147%), compared to un-inoculated plants. Inoculated Se-treated plants showed a significant increase in acid phosphatase activity, which may have contributed to the enhanced growth. In conclusion; Inoculation with Bacillus sp. YAM2 is a promising Se biofortification strategy for wheat and potentially other crops.

Organic acids such as acetic, formic, propionic, succinic and lactic acids were obtained in significant amounts. At 623 K (16.5 MPa), acetic acid of about 26 mg/g-dry waste fish entrails was obtained. This increased to 42 mg/gdry waste fish entrails in the presence of H2O2. Experiments on glucose to represent cellulosic wastes were also carried out, getting acetic acid of about 29 mg/g-glucose. The study was extended to terephthalic acid and glyceraldehyde, reaction intermediates of hydrothermal treatment of PET plastic wastes and glucose, respectively. Studies on temperature dependence of formation of organic acids showed thermal stability of acetic acid, whereas, formic acid decomposed readily under hydrothermal conditions. In general, results demonstrated that the presence of oxidants favored formation of organic acids with acetic acid being the major product.

Overall, the chromate salt severely affected various growth, yield and biochemical parameters of the chickpea plants. In general, bacterial inoculations enhanced various growth and biochemical parameters by alleviating the toxic effects of chromate salt. A reduction of 43% in seedling length was recorded when the plants were supplemented with 300 μg ml −1 of K 2 CrO 4 in comparison to the chromium-free control. The toxicity of chromate salt was also obvious on the fresh biomass (40%), dry weight (116%), and auxin content (143%). Higher concentrations of chromium contents were detected in root (1.912 mg Cr g −1 dry weight) and smaller quantities were transferred into shoots (0.086 mg Cr g −1 dry weight) and leaves (0.074 mg Cr g −1 dry weight).

Interpolation of elevation at any location in Pakistan may be useful for predicting environmental parameters such as precipitation, temperature, humidity and wind speed. Present study interpolates the amount of elevation at unobserved locations using: 1) model based ordinary kriging, 2) model based Bayesian kriging with constant trend, 3) model based Bayesian Kriging with varying trend,4) %spatial Gaussian process with andwithout trend and 5) spatial artificial neural network. Prediction maps of elevation for complete domain are estimated along with prediction standard deviation. The results of suggested methods are compared with means of leave one take others cross validation method. It is observed from cross validation method that model based Bayesian kriging with constant trend performs better than the other methods of predicting the amount of elevation in Pakistan.
Modeling the spatio-temporal distribution and characteristics of particulate matter remains a foc... more Modeling the spatio-temporal distribution and characteristics of particulate matter remains a focal point of research. In the present study we model the spatio-temporal structure of 10 PM with and without a spatial trend made of environmental covariates. (i) Spatio-temporal interpolation without accounting for covariates is done by using ordinary space-time kriging. (i) To include covariates into the model we propose the following methodology, a combination of methods that has not been investigated before: generalized additive regression is employed to capture the effects of the covariates by partitioning the output into a trend and a residual component. Furthermore, the unknown trend components at ungauged locations are estimated by spatial artificial neural networks and the corresponding residual components are predicted by means of ordinary space-time kriging based on a nested spatio-temporal covariance function that is optimized by a particle swarm algorithm. The results of both methods (i and ii) are compared by means of cross validation and it is found that the new methodology which takes the covariates into account performs significantly better, in particular, it yields a smaller mean squared error.

Strains used exhibited very high-level resistance to chromate (up to 50 mg ml 1 on nutrient agar and 1-2 mg m1-1 in minimal medium). Application of Cr(VI) salt adversely affected the seed germination, root and shoot length, and fresh weight of seedlings. Bacterial inoculations improved the growth parameters. The effects of Cr(VI) on the different biochemical parameters were also very severe but seedlings inoculated with bacteria showed much improvements as compared to non-inoculated controls. Uptake of Cr(VI) was higher than Cr(lll) by the seedlings. Inoculated seedlings contained less chromium than non-inoculated seedlings. Much improvement in the internal region of root and shoot was observed in inoculated plants especially in guard cells. These strains were isolated and purified at 1000 pg ml -~ of potassium chromate supplemented medium. Strains were stored at 4~
