This study evaluated the cytotoxic effect, anti-cancer properties of beetles derived chitosan. The study conducted using lung (A549) and colorectal (HCT-116) cancer cell lines to identify the anti-cancer effect. Cytotoxicity was evaluated by describing and measuring recoding morphological changes. The viability and related IC 50 were cell type and concentration dependent. Also, related cell apoptosis was monitored using PI stain where early and late apoptosis of treated A549 cells was significantly elevated than in case of HCT-116 cell line (P<0.05) than control. In the meantime, the necrotic % of treated cells didn't perform any changes between the two cell lines but significantly elevated than that of cell control (P<0.05). Apoptotic profile was examined and showed up regulation of both proapoptotic genes (P53 and Bax) accompanied with down regulation of BCL-2 in both cell lines.

Every station is a standalone self-powered system working as an element in a huge network which is responsible for controlling the traffic on the road and improve the quality of road service. It is supposed to turn its lights on only whenever vehicles or pedestrians are existed to save power; warn the speedy vehicles by placing various smart road tools to limit their speeds; monitor the road status, recognize the accidents and call for emergency police; send the whole situation to the city central control office; help in keeping roads pollution-free, help older-aged people and do many other magnificent functions. Our proposed system consists of 5 main subsystems; First, Smart lighting system; Second, Road monitoring and Speed measurement system; Third, Speed Control system (Smart speed bump); Fourth, Emergency USB charger, and Fifth, Off-grid Solar power System.

To solve these problems, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) are investigated. One of the important ITS applications is vehicle platooning, which is contemplated to enhance road organization and reduce the overall fuel consumption. In this study a cooperative optimal algorithm is adopted to coordinate several vehicles to form platoons that minimize the total fuel cost by maximizing distance vehicles are in platoon, through the adjustment of the vehicles’ speeds. The algorithm is based on pairwise coordination by which the coordination decision is made between each two vehicles or sub-platoons to form a platoon based on fuel-saving potential. The optimization problem outputs the desired optimal speed profiles for each vehicle offline. These speed profiles are then sent to a cruise controller to control each vehicle’s dynamics to reach the desired optimal speeds. A nonlinear vehicle dynamic model including the powertrain dynamics is investigated. A hierarchical speed control approach is used, having an optimal Model predictive Control (MPC) as the upper level controller and a linear Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) as the lower level control approach used to manage the vehicles’ velocities. The coordination algorithm and the controller are tested on a scenario of four scattered vehicles moving on a flat road, having same destination point. The simulation scenario is conducted to test the coordination algorithm and demonstrate the performance of the controller in terms of velocity tracking, realistic control effort and reduced fuel consumption. Results show that the optimization and control objectives are achieved successfully.

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an occasion that the body begins a fight against its own cells and organs. There are different types of autoantibodies that have been identified in recent years. The most familiar is anti-nuclear antibodies (ANA). They are created against cell nuclei, and one of the methods used for its detection and its pattern determination is indirect immunofluorescence test (IIF). IIF was used for that purpose in our study, and concluded that ANA positivity rate was higher in female patients than the male ones, where ANA was positive in 36.1% of the male patients and 48.2% of female patients. Also, the most frequent ANA patterns in SLE patients were speckled pattern, where 21.6% & 41.3% of male and female patients, respectively, have speckled pattern of ANA.

Thus, in this study, we evaluate the cytotoxic effect, anti-cancer and anti-bacterial properties of beetles derived chitosan. This study evaluated the toxicity effect of LD50 of native Echis coloratus venom and the LD50 of dry venom irradiated with different doses of gamma radiation (2, 5 & 10 KGy) on Swiss albino mice. Measurement of some biochemical parameters and histological alterations in liver and kidney was investigated. The biochemical parameters showed highly significant increase (P< 0.001) in levels of ALT, AST, urea and CK in all groups compared to control group. Levels of serum creatinine showed highly significant increase (P< 0.001) in groups treated with LD50 of crude venom and 5 times LD50 of irradiated venom at 2 and 10 KGy, But, showed significant (P< 0.05) with groups treated with 5 times LD50 of irradiated venom at 5KGy & LD50 of irradiated venomat 10 KGy showed non-significant in group treated with LD50 of 5KGy & 2KGy compared to control group. Histological examination showed alterations in liver, kidney...

The flow obeys Herschel Bulkley model through a non-Darcy porous medium under the effects of mixed convection and thermal diffusion. Moreover, the effects of thermal radiation, heat generation, Ohmic dissipation, chemical reaction and uniform external magnetic field are investigated. The derived equations that describe the velocity, temperature and nanoparticles concentration are simplified under the assumptions of long wave length and low Reynolds number. These equations have been solved by using a numerical technique with the help of shooting method. The obtained solutions are functions of the physical parameters entering the problem. The effects of these parameters and the obtained solutions are explained and discussed through a set of graphs. It is found that the increment in Prandtl number or Thermophoresis parameter reduces the spread of ...

In a randomized controlled trial at a university teaching hospital, 90 patients indicated for ICSI and having unilateral single endometrioma of less than 5 cm in diameter were randomized into 2 groups. Group A (45 patients) received the standard long protocol; whereas group B (45 patients) received 3 consecutive Intramuscular (IM) injections of triptorelin 3.75 mg 28 days apart followed by the standard long protocol 28 days after the last injection. There were no significant differences in the clinical and hormonal characteristics between the 2 groups. All ICSI cycle characteristics including number of retrieved oocytes, fertilized oocytes, and transferred embryos were also not significantly different. However, patients who received prolonged GnRH agonist thera...

Coagulation factors might be compromised during leucoreduction because of exposure of plasma to a variety of filter materials. The aim of the current study was to assess the effect of different methods of prestorage leucofiltration (apheresis and whole blood filters) on prothrombin time, international normalized ratio, partial thromboplastin time and factors V and VIII. There was a significant prolongation of prothrombin time as well as elevation of international normalized ratio in plasma after leucoreduction (14.5 W 0.7 s vs. 13.9 W 0.7 s, P U 0.008 and 1.14 W 0.07 vs. 1.09 W 0.07, P U 0.005, respectively). Also, there was a statistically significant prolongation of activated partial thromboplastin time in nonleucoreduced plasma (55.6 W 9.9 s vs. 43.2 W 12.8 s, P U 0.001). There was no significant filtration effect on factors V and VIII levels. Furthermore, there was no significant difference in factors V and VIII levels between plasma filtered by inline whole blood filters and apheresis machine. Leucodepleted plasma originating from both inline whole blood filter and apheresis machine maintained satisfactory levels of factors V and VIII.
