The ARDL technique was employed to analyze the long and short-term relationships among the variables. Results reveal a long-term relationship between carbon emissions, energy consumption, and economic growth in Morocco. Additionally, economic growth was found to have a positive and significant impact on carbon emissions both in the short and long term, supporting the Environmental Kuznets Curve hypothesis. Policymakers and governments must prioritize investments in energy efficiency improvements and carbon emissions reductions through effective environmental policies and infrastructure investments while emphasizing alternative and renewable energy sources.

The ARDL bounds tests and Johansen cointegration tests found long-run relationships among the variables. In the long-run, total energy consumption and primary coal consumption produce statistically significant positive relationships with carbon emissions. However, petroleum consumption demonstrates a statistically significant negative association with carbon emissions. The results show the validity of the EKC in total energy and primary coal consumption in the long-run but are invalid for petroleum consumption. In the short run, the findings reveal that total energy, primary coal and petroleum consumption have statistically significant positive relationships with carbon emissions. Furthermore, in the short run, the EKC is evident in petroleum consumption but invalid in both total energy and primary coal consumption. The short-and long-run Granger causality tests results based on the VECM are also discussed. The article concludes that, if carbon emissions are to be reduced in developing economies, alternative energy sources in the form of green technologies should be adopted as substitutes for coal and petroleum.

Energy efficiency is particularly important in energy-intensive sectors such as the industrial sector. However, EEMs within the industrial firms are hindered by several internal barriers such as competing interests within firms, the lack of information regarding energy efficiency opportunities, and the low technical competence. In this regard, energy audit aims to improve energy efficiency in facilities and to tackle internal barriers to energy efficiency. We construct a model which aims to explore the importance of energy audit in implementing EEMs and reducing the intensity of internal barriers to energy efficiency. Our research model was empirically tested through survey data gathered from 193 industrial firms in Morocco. Results show that competing interests, the lack of information and the low technical competence ...

Energy efficiency is pivotal to combat climate change, it is the most affordable and readily accessible resource, and the most profitable path to sustainability. Manufacturing companies are increasingly adopting energy efficiency practices (EEP) as they become more knowledgeable about the central role energy efficiency plays in their companies’ competitiveness and the planet’s sustainability. However, the severity of climate change requires the adoption of “optimal” EEP rather than “fairly good” ones. Companies’ satisficing behavior occurs when they do not operate as profit-maximisers, but as satisfactory solutions-seekers. This study explores avenues to address companies’ satisficing behavior regarding EEP. Our research model was empirically tested through survey d...

Despite the global recognition of the compelling benefits of energy efficiency, there is still a gap between the theoretical potential and the current level of energy efficiency. Agents' irrational hesitation to invest in energy efficiency explains a significant proportion of the energy efficiency gap. Behavioral barriers have caused policymakers to question the relevance of traditional information-based instruments. To address behavioral obstacles, a reconsideration of traditional policies appears to be necessary. We examine the key barriers related to agents' behavior and how they reinforce each other. Then we suggest that policies should consider nudging strategies, which offer valuable insights regarding the human decision-making, and which represent a pivotal way to close the energy efficiency gap.

In order to determine which of the asset pricing models is the best to explain portfolio returns on the Moroccan share market, these two models are indeed evaluated in the Moroccan market. Additionally, it is worth mentioning that five years of monthly data from the firms that listed on the Casablanca Stock Exchange are used in this research, as well over the period of nine years. The results of this inquiry show that these models barely have a partial hold on the Casablanca Stock Exchange (CSE), which limits their ability to predict the cross-sections of returns. In accordance with this, the C4F model has somewhat greater explanatory power than the FF3F Model. Moreover, our research adds to the body of knowledge by inserting two learned material asset pricing theories to the proof in the market, which is still evolving, and where distinctive an...
The Moroccan manufacturing sector consumes 24% of the country’s total energy production. Morocco ... more The Moroccan manufacturing sector consumes 24% of the country’s total energy production. Morocco is dealing with energy challenges related to its growing energy consumption, which has made energy efficiency a national priority. In this study, we construct a model that includes mimetic pressure and financial slack as drivers to reduce the intensity of risk aversion regarding electrical energy efficiency practices within companies. Our research model was empirically examined using survey data gathered from 193 manufacturing companies located in four Moroccan regions. Results show that risk aversion is negatively related to energy efficiency practices. Both mimetic pressure and financial slack are positively related to energy efficiency practices. Both mimetic pressure and financial slack reduce risk aversion. Mimetic pressure dampens the negative relationship between risk aversion and energy efficiency practices, while financial slack does not dampen the negative relationship between ...

Discuss the differential diagnosis of pediatric acute pharyngitis and the epidemiology and transmission of group A Streptococcus (GAS) pharyngitis. 2. Delineate the rationale for and the treatment regimens of GAS pharyngitis as well as the complications of GAS pharyngitis. 3. Know the carrier state of GAS. 4. Describe the clinical criteria for rheumatic fever and streptococcal toxic shock syndrome. Group A Streptococcus (GAS) causes the widest range of syndromes of any bacterium, including simple skin infections and pharyngitis, severe suppurative infections, the toxin-mediated streptococcal toxic shock syndrome (STSS), and immune-mediated illnesses such as acute rheumatic fever and acute glomerulonephritis. Specific manifestations of GAS infections represent the complex interplay of bacterial virulence factors and host immunogenetic factors. GAS accounts for about 15% to 30% of acute pharyngitis cases in children. Children ages 5 to 11 years have the highest incidence of GAS pharyngitis, although it occurs among all age groups. The major rationale for accurate diagnosis and treatment of GAS pharyngitis is the prevention of acute rheumatic fever (ARF) and rheumatic heart disease (RHD). In temperate climates, GAS pharyngitis is more common during the winter and early spring months. The incubation period for streptococcal pharyngitis is short (2 to 5 days). Transmission occurs with close contact via inhalation of organisms in large droplets or by direct contact with respiratory secretions. GAS is only one of the causes of acute pharyngitis; others are listed in Table 1. One of the most crucial decisions in evaluating a patient who has pharyngitis is whether to perform a rapid antigen test or bacterial culture of the throat for GAS. The clinician must keep in mind three important principles. First, accurate detection and treatment of GAS pharyngitis are needed to prevent ARF and other complications. Second, unnecessarily performing these …

The purpose of this paper is to study the shocks transmission of exchange rates variations to prices index known as exchange rate pass-through. The empirical results of the quarterly data between 2000 and 2018 revealed that the pass-through of the exchange rate in Morocco is quite important, but incomplete and delayed in three categories of price index: consumer price index, Imports price Index and Industrial production price Index.
