For such, we have made use of three exhaustion runs (3 X 250-meter runs in official 400-meter-long tracks, with active recovery 150-meter-long breaks). Five students (3 men and 2 women average age 21±2 years old) have participated in the test. Our objective was to propose a non-habitual strenuous physical activity so as to increase the concentration of lactate to induce a certain level of muscle discomfort. 3mL of blood were collected before the physical activity (control value-CO), immediately afterwards (T0h), two hours later (T2h) and four hours later (T4h), so as to obtain the amounts of lactate (in whole blood) and of creatine kinase (in plasma). The analysis of the concentration of lactate was conducted using the device Accutrend Lactate and the levels of CK in plasma measured through the reactive method CK NAC-Kinetic Method, Laborlab making use of a spectophotometer. There was a significant increase of lactate levels in the blood immediately after the physical effort. Nevertheless, after T2h and T4h, these levels decreased back to the same levels measured before the exercise, evidencing a natural strategic elimination of this lactate. An identical increase of the plasmatic concentration of CK could also be observed in all 5 individuals 4 hours after the physical exercise, with a significant increase in T4h when compared to the CO. The concentration of lactate in plasma goes back to the pre-exercise levels 2 hours after the intensive physical activity, long before the first symptoms of DOMS. It can be said, thus, that the significant increase of CK in the plasma 4 hours after the exercise leads us to conclude that an increase of permeability or stronger perturbation of the sarcolema constitutes a primary event in the development of the DOMS.

This complexity significantly increases when company team member are working in an offshore environment. The need for a set of processes increases after every project, including those to organize the development strategy. Reference models, maturity models and frameworks can be found in literature trying to solve this problem. However, few comparative analysis have been done in order to validate the appropriate solution. The objective of this paper is to elaborate and define a set of criteria to perform a comparative analysis of the main global software development reference models, focusing the offshore development, having as basis an extensive literature review and a case study in industry. The case study was conducted in two different sites in Brazil.

This complexity significantly increases when a global software development environment exists. Reference development offshore models can be found in literature trying to solve this problem. However, few comparative analyses have been done in order to validate the best solution. The objective of this paper is to present a criteria definition, based upon practical studies, and elaborate a set of analysis of the main software development offshore reference models, having as basis an extensive literature review and a case study in industry. The case study was conducted in two global organizations that work in a global software development environment. duas organizações que estruturam seus processos em ambientes de desenvolvimento global de software.

In global environments, the software configuration becomes critical due to the characteristics of the distributed development (physical distance, cultural differences, trust, communication and other factors). The objective of this paper is to analyze the software configuration management in a global software development environment, identifying the main challenges. The results are based on a case study carried on at a multinational organization that has offshore software development centers in Brazil, India and Russia, and was recently recognized in the CMM Model level 2 in the Brazilian unit. The results suggest the necessity to adapt and implement some activities in the software configuration management process addressing the main existing challenges. These activities were identified as lessons learned, collected at the end of each project. The problems and the solutions adopted are presented, aiming to relate these solutions to the organization distribution level, considering the project team, users and customers.

Because of this, companies are extending their operation to offshore development centers. These centers attend needs of the company using its own resources, located in a different country. In order to explore these organizations' current activities and to seek insights to guide future development, this paper describes the results of a case study conducted in four global development centers located in Latin America and Asia. From this study, lessons learned were compiled as an approach to be followed in projects with similar environments.

With the fast development of this area, it is also necessary to better prepare software development professionals to develop software when located in distributed settings. In this paper, we present an experience of corporate training initiatives related to distributed development in a multinational company with global operations. We have interviewed and collected qualitative data from 39 employees aiming at the identification of challenges and ...

Professors from the US and Brazil at both the graduate and undergraduate level were involved. Courses ranging from IS Strategy and Introduction to ...
