Sport is no longer just about the athletes, but more about the environment and the business opportunities in which the tools of sport are used. Spatial development is increasingly geared towards smart cities, where innovation and startups are becoming more dynamic. Sport, with its multiple functions, fits into the urban development agenda. In this paper, we describe the relationship between startups and sport, the background to their emergence and the directions in which they are developing. We also describe the good practices that drive this development mechanism. The economic dimension of sport is a development pathway, either in the economic development of a territory or in the development of the sports industry, which can take technical, health and social directions.
