This paper shows, through simulations using the software Matlab/Simulink and its library Simpower... more This paper shows, through simulations using the software Matlab/Simulink and its library Simpowersystems, how to perform the synchronous generator load rejection tests and how to obtain the values of the synchronous generator electrical operational parameters which are important data to perform generator and electrical power system dynamic studies. The paper discuss the d-axis load rejection test, the q-axis load rejection test, the arbitrary axis load rejection test also shows how to calculate the electrical fundamental parameters which characterizes the synchronous generator.

This paper presents a method for identifying of parameters of synchronous generators using the sy... more This paper presents a method for identifying of parameters of synchronous generators using the synthetic data. In this work, the norm trajectory sensitivity method is proposed to estimate the electrical parameters of different synchronous generators models for different conditions, for steady state, and transient and sub-transient operations. The captured data is used, together with an initial set of machine parameters. In this paper is showing too, the subset selection of parameters. It is shown that attempts to estimate all of the parameters can yield unreliable results. The estimated parameters are compared to available manufacturer data and the accuracy of the method is assessed.

This paper presents the implementation of a distance relay model in a real-time simulation platfo... more This paper presents the implementation of a distance relay model in a real-time simulation platform. The relay is basically used in this work to locate faults in radial homogeneous (i.e., all sections have the same per unit parameters) transmission and distribution systems. The device can also be used to estimate the fault impedance, assuming it is a constant resistance. The document presents a sensitivity study of the fault location algorithm; that is, the paper analyzes the performance of the algorithm for estimating the fault distance and the fault resistance as a function of several parameters involved in the transient simulation; namely, the time-step size, the fault distance and resistance values, as well as the system structure and model. Some important issues for real-time implementation are also discussed.

Resumo—Este trabalho tem por objetivo analisar o comportamento do sistema elétrico de potência de... more Resumo—Este trabalho tem por objetivo analisar o comportamento do sistema elétrico de potência de 14 barras da IEEE ao interagir com um parque eólico composto por aerogeradores que utilizam geradores de indução. Os aerogeradores assíncronos utilizados são o de velocidade variável com gerador de indução duplamente alimentado (Doubly-Fed Induction Generator-DFIG) e o de velocidade fixa com gerador de indução de rotor de gaiola de esquilo (Squirrel Cage Induction Generator-SCIG). O caso de estudo está baseado em um parque eólico com 40 aerogeradores cada um de 2,5 MW, foram realizados comparativos entre a estabilidade e funcionalidade do sistema através de gráficos referentes às velocidades do rotor e ângulo de cada gerador síncrono convencional do sistema variando o tempo de estabilidade, empregando o PSAT/MATLAB para realizar as simulações computacionais para obter o comportamento do sistema elétrico de potência. Posteriormente é apresentado o gerador assíncrono de maior eficiência, mostrando suas vantagens no funcionamento do parque eólico apresentado.
