José Luis Piñuel Raigada
From 1971 to 1975, José Luis Piñuel-Raigada worked as Editor for Editorial Salvat at Barcelona. In 1975, he was awarded a Postgraduate scholarship from the French government to go to l’Écôle des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris, where he obtained a Maîtrise with a thesis directed by Eliseo Verón and Violette Morin. He then finished his Doctoral studies under the guidance of Abraham Moles in Strasbourg.In 1978, he went back to Spain and since then he teaches Communication Theories and Communication Research Methods and Techniques at Universidad Complutense. He has been a guest lecturer in foreign universities (European and American) including Lyon 3 (Doctorât d’été in 2009), Notthingam, Leuven, Nice, Siena and Autónoma de Barcelona, with which he directed a Master in European Business Communication for two years. Among the American universities that have invited Dr. Piñuel-Raigada, the following can be highlighted: Université de Montréal (Canada), Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí (Mexico), Universidad de Veracruz (Mexico), Universidad Iberoamericana (Mexico), Universidad de la Habana (Cuba), Universidad Javeriana and Universidad del Norte (Colombia), Universidad de la República (Uruguay), Universidad de la Frontera and Universidad Diego Portales in Chile. He has participated as an international expert in different work groups of the European Council between 1987 and 1991. At Universidad Complutense, he directed the Departamental Section of Sociology IV between 1986 and 1990, and in 1991 he joined the team for Research and International Affairs as an Associate Dean to promote Erasmus networks in the Faculty of Informational Sciences. In 2004, Dr. Piñuel founded a research group called Mediación Dialéctica de la Comunicación Social (MDCS, for its acronym in Spanish) registered under the reference code 940057. He has participated as an expert evaluator for ANECA (2010-2011) and a Member of the ANECA Commission for Accreditation of Chairs in the Field of Social Sciences, Economics and Legal Sciences. In 2008, he was appointed Director of the Thematic Section of Theory and Methods of Research of the Spanish Association of Communication Researchers (AE-IC, for its acronym in Spanish), and in 2010 as the Director for their Commission for Scientific Policy. Since 2012 he has co-directed Disertaciones, a peer-reviewed and indexed academic and scientific publication, and has been involved in several scientific committees including the Societé Française des Sciences de l’Information et Communication (SFSIC).
