John E Parks
For thirty years, John Parks has worked to design and implement marine resource management solutions that strengthen the environmental sustainability and human security of coastal communities around the world. John currently serves as a Senior Associate for International Development Services at Tetra Tech. Previously, he served as and as Chief of Party of the USAID-funded Sustainable Fish Asia Technical Support Activity and Oceans and Fisheries Partnership, working across Southeast Asia to combat illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing, promote sustainable fisheries, and enhance marine biodiversity conservation. Prior to Tetra Tech, John has served as a federal officer with the United States National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and as senior staff with The Nature Conservancy, the World Resources Institute, and World Wildlife Fund. John earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science at the University of Miami, with a dual focus on behavioral science and tropical marine ecology. He is a member of the IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas, and has been a contributing or lead author on numerous books, journal articles, and other publications.
